Beautiful beach but run down resort

Just returned from staying two weeks in this hotel. Although the staff are very friendly and try their best to give good service it’s difficult since the resort is old and in disrepair. Our room was kept clean by the maid on a daily basis, although it appeared that the walls around the mirror the doors etc. have not been cleaned in a long time. The high touch areas such as elevator buttons and the elevators themselves were dirty and sticky. One of the two main elevators was broken the whole two weeks we were there. One morning we woke to no water in our room and had to take the elevator down nine stories in order to go to the bathroom on the main floor. When we inquired at the front desk about it we could not get a straight answer of when it would come back on. It finally was fixed a couple hours later. We were limited to two bottles of water in our room daily or else we would have to pay for more. There is no coffee or tea provided in the room. There were not even cups or glasses to use in the room. The food was not good and we saw staff handling our cooked food with bare hands and no gloves. They didn’t wash or use sanitizer between touching other surfaces. My husband got diarrhea and vomiting for several days after eating here. We than stopped eating at the resort and bought our own drinks and went to restaurants outside to eat. Since we paid for all inclusive it was extra cost but he then started feeling better. There’s Only one à la carte restaurant and the menu is the same all the time. You also have to line up every day in order to book if you can’t book in advance. The pool area and the grounds your are kept fairly neat and clean. The resort was quiet during the week but on Fridays and Saturdays it was very crowded and noisy. One week and they had two weddings and took most of the chairs off the beach so you couldn’t sit there but they didn’t increase the seats around the pool. So if you weren’t down with your towel to save a spot by 7:30 in the morning you were out of luck. Although it stop is a beautiful area with the beach in the water I wouldn’t recommend staying at this resort.
Good mid-scale family friendly all inclusive.

Just arrived back from a week holiday from this hotel. It’s about a 20-30min drive back from the airport. We got a taxi from the airport for $580 Mexican pesos using the airport taxi desk. To point out the hotel is VERY strict with check in and check out times. We arrived earlier than the check in time but was kindly allowed to use the facilities but the room keys were only provided at 3pm. The hotel honoured my IHG membership and upgraded the room without having to ask. The hotel overall caters for mainly the Mexican family groups. Don’t let this put you off. We found everyone really welcoming. So yes there will be kids around, there isn’t an adults only area of any part of the hotel just to prepare you. Food was plentiful and changed daily with some Mexican side dishes which were repeated daily. Drinks were all included from the various outlets. There is no premium dining at the hotel. During the day there was various games/ events run by the entertainment team. The evening entertainment was in Spanish so was different to watch. The pools were clean but sun beds were difficult to find at times, due to families reserving them rather than actually being used! The staff definitely make this place. Everyone was friendly and so hard working. You didn’t see staff stop, constantly working. Everyone who we meet had a really good grasp of English. Check out again our flight was later in the evening, we had to return our room keys by 12pm but as they advised due to my IHG membership we could continue using our wristbands until 2pm. When it was time to leave the bell boys kindly called us a taxi and it cost us $400 Mexican pesos back to the airport. The one thing I would recommend to the hotel management is to enforce their rule about reserving sun beds, which shouldn’t done! We found other guests did like to reserve their sun beds early in the morning. One morning a family left their towels on beds opposite us at 9am but they didn’t return until 4pm! Rather pointless. So would I recommend, yes I would! But if you are looking for more upmarket and quiet then maybe not the place for you.
