The staff at Tesoro are definitely what made our vacation! We booked a garden view room but were upgraded to a 6th floor ocean view room at check in. Everyone we came in contact with from housekeeping to batenders to wait staff went out of their way to help us with anything we might need. We both highly recommend the facials and massage at the spa! Special shout out to Dennis (bellman) who greeted us with a smile and helped us in so many ways because of his excellent English. It is clear that he really cares about his job and guests.
The all inclusive food options at the resort were okay. Not great but we always found something we liked.
Because we came in July, the resort was packed full of families with LOTS of kids. If you want a peaceful pool experience, don't come here during the summer.
Overall, this resort was a good value and again...the staff is amazing!!
UPDATE - 1 week into our stay
May 23, 2022
They did move us from the crappy room on the first floor to a room with a beautiful view on the 7th floor in our 2nd day here.
So many amazing employees. From Susie in the spa to Guadalupe in the dining area to several amazing bellboys. Dennis is a HUGE asset to this resort. His English and commitment to customers is above and beyond. Our housekeeper did an amazing job. Everyone worked so hard and took pride in their jobs.
All inclusive but this doesn’t include what they consider to be top shelf alcohol (this was a first for me). The drinks we did have were pretty watered down. Irish Cream isn’t usually considered top shelf!
The food is not the best, they have a lot to work on at the buffet and the poolside snack bar. A lot of the food is cold or warm. Poolside you can’t get a hot meal, in the buffet you can only get hot food at the grill. In the restaurant the food is better but not a lot of choices (an English version of the menu would be helpful). Having to make a reservation for the restaurant daily is difficult if you have plans outside the resort.
All in all, Ixtapa and Zihua are beautiful towns. The waves were huge outside the resort (from what we heard this was because of the full moon and we are approaching rainy season). It was awesome to watch. Location is great.
This was our first trip this far south and we learned that Pesos are a must (unlike PV, Mazatlan and Cabo). Not sure that Tesoro is the resort for us in the future.
