Located between the resort areas of Kaanapali Beach and Kapalua Bay on Maui, the Royal Kahana Maui by Outrigger offers air-conditioned condominium units in an ocean front high rise setting at Kahana. The majority of units have spectacular ocean views, with the islands of Molokai and Lanai in the distance.
Our travel agency unfortunately booked us for 5 days at the Royal Kahana by Outrigger. Well, nothing 'royal' about it, that's for sure.
Kitchen was actually nice and clean, but the carpet in the rooms dirty (why even have a carpet, it's bound to get dirty.) A fortune for final cleaning fee (no room cleaning during stay) and expensive parking doesn't help either. The building itself looks like a mixture of the old Eastern Europe and a prison (as our son rightly commented) sorry.. and unfortunately our view was as much in the direction of an ugly building as of the beautiful ocean. Why the pool is around 38 degrees celcius is a mystery. Ping pong table situated in the basement unfortunately whith garbage smell.
The location is not great: no good restaurants nearby and a shame one has to drive for eating out. However, the little beach and sea water -especially if you walk a little to the left- is very nice.
Maui was great, this hotel wasn't.
Dirty Dated Condo, find a better place
Jul 19, 2022
Sticky floors welcomed us in this dirty, dated condo. The unit's 1970s decor needs attention. Looks great on paper, but not at all what we expected. Clearly the owner's profit motive outstrips any concern for his guests. We ended up spending $4600 to move to the Westin for our remaining stay and refused to stay here. We have yet to receive even an apology, and the owner has definitely not returned any of our money, despite us notifying him why we were leaving. The only reason I am giving 1 star is because I can't give 0.
