Expected more for my money
grizelmg on May 03, 2023
Not what I expected for the rate I paid-all inclusive. The pool bar's hours are from 11am to 6pm when the pool closes at 8pm. Not coherent. And the only adults pool does not have any bar service. Once again not coherent. The personal did not serve me a drink because it was 10:58am and answered they didn't open until 11am. Horrible attitude. The workers just seem unhappy to work there. You don't get wifi in the rooms, only in the common areas. I didn't have a frigobar in my room so they took me a cooler with ice instead of giving me another room because I paid one with a frigobar. Disappointed because I expected more. Will not return, since there are better hotels that meet up to my expectations for less cost.
Five stars

I would like to stay at some of the hotels that people who gave this place less than a five star review. We enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms are spacious. Staff are friendly. The facilities are luxurious. The breakfast buffet is terrific. We did not play golf. A two minute (20 peso) boat ride shuttles you back and forth to Barra de Navidad which has an assortment of local eating options. You can also access the resort via road, but the boat is the way to go if headed to Barra or points north. The hotel is reasonably priced for a place of that caliber. It’s not a place to go if you want to immerse yourself in local culture, but it is a very comfortable and enjoyable place to spend a few days.
Love this grand place!

We love this grand place, such a delight. Our room on the 9th floor was comfortable, with a wonderful view, first class! Getting to the room is an IQ test but it's part of the fun. The hotel is starting to show signs of her age, and we can see it's a pretty big job to keep up with, but we appreciate that efforts are always underway to keep things looking nice. The restaurants are good and the staff is always delightful. We will come back!
A wonderful stay

This is a place with incomparable beauty. It is elegant with old world charm. Excellent staff and food. When I originally booked this trip I was looking for all inclusive resort for part of the trip. I chose the Barcelo in Monzanillo because I have been impressed with the beauty of other Barcelos. But this place was more beautiful and elegant. The food was better. It was quieter. The only criticism I have is that the internet only works in the lobby and a few other places.

What an amazing resort, from manicured grounds that go on forever to the swim pool bar, gourmet food to immaculate marina this place has it all. The hardest part is not staying forever. Take a few swings at the 27 hole golf course or tennis courts of you're feeling frisky. Or plan a wedding here and see just how magical this place can be. We came in a sailboat and seriously considered never leaving.
