Do not book through 3rd party (Hotels.com, Expedia)

Be very careful! The resort will not help you if you have an issue with your reservation. By far the most unprofessional customer service. I booked via hotels.com, when I arrived to the resort, the resort claimed they had not received payment. They refused to provide a refund so we could go elsewhere. When asked if they could cancel and help with the situation, they refused to assist and told repeatedly to figure it. Rudely was asked to move away from the reception desk until the matter was solved. Call and verified and half of the money was due at the resort(I had to have hotels.con refund the partial payment so I could pay at resort. Would not recommend this resort, I ended up paying double to stay here. Disputing the charge with my credit card company. Hotel is outdated and lots of issues throughout. Forced to stay here even though we wanted to cancel. Just beware. Looks beautiful from the outside! THE RESORT NEEDS TO UPDATE THERE PICTURES. Deceiving and misleading.

Sweet but needs maintenence

We just got back.. it was an ok stay the rooms are spacious with a great view. However it needs major repair. Upon arriving we noticed our keys didn't work, I was scared to turn on the lamp because it was off the brackets. The floor boards were crumbling.. there's mold all over the building. Not to mention saw several areas that were supposed to have extinguishers but were not there... the place would be gorgeous. If it had proper maintenence. The food was ok. But the coffee is always cold. We ended up having a good time besides the large water bug crawling on my leg in the middle of the night. Like I said beautiful property but they need to fix it up.

Outstanding

This is an historic exceptional property which overlooks a stunning bay. The rooms and amenities are the finest in this area and this is the best hotel to visit in this region. Above all the service is superior and every staff member is attentive beyond compare. My husband has been visiting this property for over 20 years. We will Always return. Perfect ending to our time in Barra de Navidad

We were welcomed for day use at Grand Isla Navidad Resort by Lucia Valencia Millan. Although there was a modest day use fee we found it a most excellent hotel with an accommodating staff, lovely grounds, fine dining and good access to the lagoon for swimming. During our visit to Barra de Navidad the surf was very high and dangerous and the Grand Isla Navidad was the perfect respite. On our next visit to this area, this hotel would be our first choice. Maybe I'll bring my golf clubs as well since the 27 hole course was very inviting.

So bad it's ridiculous!! Do not stay here!!

Do not stay here!!! The hotel is extremely old, dirty and smelly. I was looking to stay one night before setting sail with my family, didn't really have high expectations and agreed to pay a high tariff knowing that I arrived without a reservation. Within the first hour of checking in and paying I realized the SCAM. Its ridiculous how bad everything about this hotel is. Long story short... I asked to be reimbursed and they refused. We left and lost our money rather than staying in that s@#$hole.
