Family and Couple Resort

Gwen P (Vancouver, Canada) on Apr 17, 2026

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful week. At check in we chose to upgrade to the Adults Only Preferred Club and were in Building 1. When you look at the view of the resort that is the one on the far left. We both agree that this made the difference to the enjoyment of our trip. We love kids, and there were many, but for a retired couple, the serenity of the Preferred Adult Pool made the difference. I would like to specifically mention Hernan who is the waiter at this pool. He could not have been more attentive. We enjoyed going to the Preferred Lounge throughout the day as well, and enjoyed a pre dinner cocktail each night. The snacks were always fresh and delicious. Our favourite Restaurants were Oceana (seafood) and Portifino (Italian). The buffet for breakfast and lunch were adequate. We are not late night people so the fact that this resort is on the quiet side suits us. Would be go back? YES

Hidden gem and amazing kids club !

twinkz1212 (Quebec, Canada) on Apr 17, 2026

Amazing trip at this resort, the views are beautiful, we loved our room in the preferred building near the preferred lounge. Angel made great cocktails at the preferred lounge. Another hightlight was the kids club for our kids, thanks to Miranda and Yamileth, the masterchef was cool for our kids. Location felt super safe and quiet. Even if we couldnt swim, I enjoyed walking on the beach. Views are nice from the pools too !

Trying a Dreams for family

Jill K (Byron Center, Michigan) on Apr 15, 2026

Location is beautiful! Short drive from airport- 15 min. We knew it was a family resort, but thought there would be more than just 1 pool that would be adults only. All the restaurants are families, nothing for just couples. The atmosphere is geared toward families. A small resort with plenty to do for kids, and a beach that goes for miles. Our room was a preferred master suite on 6th floor. a super nice room!! The maids did a wonderful job cleaning it every day. The whole resort is kept clean and neat. Noise level is what you would expect with lots of kids. Service was alway good. Our favorite preferred waiter by the pool is Hernan. He is one of a kind. Always smiling, and moving quickly to help everyone. Even getting us lunch or a snack so we didn't have to leave our chairs! All the guys at the bar did their best to keep up. Drinks were so- so... they hardly had any preferred liquor, even though they are supposed to have it. We didn't see much of it while we were there. That was true in the preferred lounge as well. The food was ok- nothing special. We did do the wine room 2 times, and chef Jesus made the most amazing meals!! 6 Courses! if you have the chance, it is extra money- but so worth it if you are a foodie! they paired wine to go with each course. Can't say enough about his meals. He also made our last meal, but we just sat in the Portofino restaurant, and that also was amazing. Shout out to Manager Rudolfo from Meraki and server Enrique that helped us in the wine room both times. They did an excellent job. But other than that, food was just ok. The mexican restaurant is only open 2 days in the week. We thought that was very strange. But our service there was the best of all of them. Shout out to Francisco, and Antonio. They did an outstanding job taking care of us. The buffet is ok. Shout out to Sandra at the omlette station- she did make amazing omlettes!! And always a smile and eager to wait on you! Most of the servers at breakfast and lunch are hard workers and are eager to help. The manager, never smiles, and is working hard at keeping tables cleared. That's about all. Never greeting with a smile. Some of the servers that helped us were, Ivan, Arturo, Florentino and Angel. I also have a gluten allergy. They don't really cater to that at all. Nothing at the buffet set out. No bread or pastries. My husband finally asked the manager on day 4 and he said he could make some gf pancakes or crepes. They were decent, but when i asked at the crepe station myself, a few days later, they said no. Even though they made them there a few days earlier. I think he didn't like to clean the grill each time- more of a hassle. And the chips they use for salsa, guac etc- they are not gluten free. Only 1 person caught that, and she brought me tostadas in a bag that were gf. Then i knew for the rest of the week to ask for them specifically. We ate at Oceana 2 times. When we arrived the first day. Service was good and food was decent- lunch. Went again a few nights later and service was awful! The waiter was very pleasant, but he was so busy that we almost walked out after having been seated and waited 20 min before he came over to bring us water. Manager was bringing out food. That's all he did. There is a pool guy that walks around late afternoon picking up dirty towels and passing out new ones- Roberto- he is a hard worker!! And always a smile! Also a shout out to Yareth?? i think that's her name- our last night at Portofino she helped to take care of us. Sits on a nice golf course- we did golf 1 day. Nice place. We also did hydrotherapy and a massage at the spa. It was very nice. They didn't seem busy at all. We would come back to this location if we came with kids, or their was a secrets or zoetry next door. Otherwise, we won't be back.

Workers

Greyson M on Apr 15, 2026

Arturo is one of the buffet workers who is an amazing waiter. I’d suggest asking for his section when you go for breakfast or lunch at the buffet. Arturo felt more like a friend the a worker.
