Great resort

Osbaldo C on Jul 19, 2026

The rooms are some of the nicest and biggest I’ve experienced in a resort. The food was good, although they didn’t have many options the first couple nights we were there. I liked how diverse each one was and the service was 5 star level easily. The first night we arrived our waiter Guillermo treated us so good that we ended up chatting with him a good time. The atmosphere of the hotel is grandiose but also intimate. I think it’s because it’s a newer hotel so the design is very intentional. Overall a good option if you’re going to Mazatlán and want a good experience.

Oceana is Terrible

Bill H (Surprise, Arizona) on Jul 09, 2026

This review only focuses on the Oceana Seafood restaurant at the resort. I'll follow-up with other aspects in separate reviews. First, the menu choices were very limited. I opted for the surf and turf described as a filet with shrimp. I described how I wanted it prepared (Pittsburgh) and even gave the waiter a photo to show the chef. What came out was a thing well done skirt steak. My wife ordered soup and grilled veggies which weren't on on the menu (no vegetarian options). The soup was cold and there were maybe 2 ounces of veggies. Will not go back.

Beautiful convenient location, extremely poor service and food!

Jay J (San Diego, California) on Jul 08, 2026

I wanted to share our experience from our most recent stay at Dreams Mazatlán Estrella del Mar. We have always enjoyed visiting the resort, and have stayed there two previous times. The location is very convenient and close to the airport. The rooms we've stayed in are beautiful and have the foundation of having an excellent property. Overall, we noticed a decline in several areas compared to our previous visits: Preferred Club Lounge * The premium liquor selection at the Preferred Lounge was limited compared to past visits. * The food offerings were also noticeably reduced. After lunch, hot food was rarely available and was seldom replenished once it was gone. On one occasion, fajitas were offered without chips or tortillas, making the offering incomplete. Restaurant Experience and Food Quality * We were disappointed with several menu changes and what seemed to be a decline in overall food quality. * At Meraki, favorite items such as the duck, eel, and udon soup have been removed and replaced with lower-quality selections. * At Barefoot, menu items we previously enjoyed, including pizza, fish and chips, and the bacon-wrapped hot dogs, were no longer available. * Breakfast offerings throughout the resort were much more limited than on prior visits. * On Sunday at the World Café, lunch service opened approximately 10 minutes late, and by 1:30 PM most of the hot entrées had already run out. * At Meraki, we waited nearly one hour between receiving our appetizers and having our entrées served. Oceana Restaurant I would also like to recognize the Oceana team for accommodating one of our requests. Once a manager became involved, they were able to accommodate my family, and we appreciated their willingness to help. Experiences like this reminded us of the level of hospitality we have enjoyed during previous stays. Thank you to Augustine, Hernan and Hector for assisting us at the pool bars and dining, and of course Sandra at World Cafe Egg station.Housekeeping Service and Staffing The common theme throughout our stay appeared to be inadequate staffing to properly meet the needs of your guests. While every staff member we encountered was courteous and doing their best, they simply seemed overwhelmed. This impacted service throughout the resort. Unfortunately, I feel I was spending more time trying to make the stay enjoyable for my family by continually complaining to get things done that should have been part of standard operating procedures. Examples included: * My son ordered room service and was advised it would take approximately one hour. It ultimately took more than two hours to arrive. * Our room minibar was not restocked after the first day of our stay, including today, despite repeated requests. It became frustrating to continually call for a service that should occur automatically. * Long wait times were common throughout the restaurants, and service often appeared delayed because there were simply not enough team members available. * My daughter’s requested evening turndown service never occurred. * We were told housekeeping attempted to service our room, but they were arriving so late in the day that we had already returned and requested privacy. * Coffee was only replenished during room cleaning and only decaffeinated coffee was left. After calling to request regular coffee, it was never delivered. Resort App * The app was unreliable. For example, it showed the ice cream shop as open on Sunday, but it was actually closed. We have been loyal guests because we genuinely enjoy Dreams Mazatlán Estrella del Mar and want to see it succeed. Unfortunately, this visit felt different from our previous experiences. The recurring issues with food availability, service delays, housekeeping, and staffing suggest systemic operational challenges rather than isolated incidents.

Worst room service, valet paring and front desk experience in a resort.

yuki y on Jul 07, 2026

Worst room service (asked to refill mini bar since it was empty when arrived), subsequent asks to the room service to bring towels and refill the beer totally ignored, valet parking so slow made me loose one of my tours, the breakfast restaurant kind of saved the experience the food was overall ok and folks were kind, the room was clean and large, but i will definitely will not be returning to this resort. One of the things I remember is that I asked for a late checkout and it took them 3 days to get back to me, called every day to check the status and they said they will get back to me it never happened. I will ask them to put more attention to re-stocking the room with towels etc, and to uphold the all inclusive purchase by having good room service.
