Atlantis - What’s worth it & what to avoid!

Atlantis Bahamas Review: Stunning, But Spend Wisely ? What We Loved The grounds at Atlantis are absolutely breathtaking. From the lush landscaping to the vibrant marina and crystal-clear water, it truly feels like a tropical paradise everywhere you walk. You could honestly spend days just exploring the property and soaking it all in. One of the most fun and unexpected highlights was the carnival-style parade that moves through the shopping area (we were told it happens on Tuesdays and Thursdays). The energy was amazing - music, dancing, and such warm, joyful people. It added a really special cultural touch to the experience and is definitely something worth catching if you’re there on the right day. One of our favorite unexpected highlights was snorkeling right off the beach near the bridge on the property. The water was clear, calm, and FULL of beautiful fish - honestly better than some excursions we’ve paid for in the past. We also loved renting a side-by-side through a local company called Viking Tours. They delivered it right to the front of the resort, and we had an amazing day exploring the island as a family. We did have to go back to their office to pay (their card machine wasn’t working), and while the area might feel a little intimidating at first, everyone we encountered was incredibly kind and welcoming. Jet ski rentals right off the beach near the Royal Towers were also a blast. Just be prepared to negotiate pricing - it’s expected and part of the experience. We loved the pirate museum in town and we had a local make us cigars by hand that were 1/5 of the price of the resort! ?? What We Would NOT Recommend ?? Atlantis Escape Room - Hard NO If your family enjoys escape rooms like ours does, skip this completely. The rooms are wide open to each other, so you can hear everything the other group is doing. It totally ruins the experience - you can’t focus, and it doesn’t feel immersive at all. On top of that, the clues were poorly designed and frustrating. We spent $250 and walked away feeling like it was a total waste. We shared with management our experience and they refused to refund it. In spite of us spending thousands of dollars on excursions in the resort. ?? “Snorkel” with Dolphins - Misleading & Overpriced This was another big disappointment. While they give you snorkel gear, you’re not actually snorkeling. You’re just floating in the water while a dolphin swims by occasionally. For over $500 for two people, this did not feel worth it at all. ?? Waterpark Day Passes - Don’t Buy Them If waterpark access is included with your stay, enjoy it - but do NOT purchase day passes if you’re visiting from outside the resort. During our 5-day stay, most of the slides were closed the majority of the time (only two were open consistently). If we had paid extra for access, we would have been extremely disappointed. ?? Final Thoughts Atlantis is absolutely beautiful and worth experiencing - but it’s not the place to say yes to every add-on. Stick to the natural beauty, simple adventures, and a few well-chosen activities, and you’ll have an amazing time. If you go in knowing what’s worth it (and what’s not), you can avoid spending hundreds on experiences that just don’t deliver.

The resort is marvelous... That being said: Room allocation sucks. Room charges go to credit card during the stay rather than at check-out. Prices are high... They give priority to full paying guest rather than casino guests (we get leftovers) even those who lose big time... The casino hosts need more power and effectiveness.
Family fun for all ages

Amazing resort which is a waterpark and aquarium all in one. Many great dining options: Nobu, Seafire, cafe Martinique, Amber. Do not go to Claudio’s restaurant
An amazing experience for young and old

Location is “the best.” There is something for everyone no matter the age or style/taste. Great for a family vacation or getaway. The rooms we’ve had were awesome. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable, styled nicely and great size/space. The water park is awesome for young kids and adults both. The grounds are out of this world. The aquariums and sea life are from another world. It makes you wonder how they even built this place. It is so huge, it takes several weekly visits to see all the areas. We’ve been down 5 times now and still find new places we haven’t seen before in the resort. The restaurants are from the most high end, upscale down to the most laid-back casual. All of the staff are extremely nice and helpful. They are always in a good mood and always speak in passing. The resort has always been accommodative of any request we’ve ever had.
Safety concerns at Atlantis

We had a nice stay at the Atlantis Royal overall, but there are a few things worth flagging for anyone considering this property, especially families. First, if you're travelling with young children, be prepared for accessibility issues. We had our 3-year-old with us and found the Royal to be difficult to navigate with a small child in tow. More seriously, something happened during our stay that I feel obligated to share, especially since we've reached out to Atlantis multiple times to report the incident and haven't received any response. Around 10:30pm one evening, a woman in a red dress knocked on our door claiming people were after her and asking to be let in. When I cracked the door she tried to force her way inside. Luckily I had the latch engaged. After I refused her, she didn't try a single other door on the floor. I also heard her speaking with a male in the hallway moments later. At the time I gave her the benefit of the doubt and called the front desk and 911. But after reflecting on it and reading about similar incidents in the Bahamas, it's clear this was a coordinated attempt and that we were specifically targeted. What concerns me most is how these individuals knew our room number. We kept a low profile during the trip and only spent time at restaurants on the Atlantis property, which raises serious questions about whether someone on staff passed along our information. The fact that Atlantis hasn't acknowledged or responded to our reports makes it worse. We'd consider coming back, but until this is addressed we have serious concerns about guest safety at this property.
