Everything we had wished for

This adult only resort is nestled amongst a tropical garden which makes for a relaxing stay from the start. The rooms which are like tree top houses can be reached via a few steps. Each room is well appointed featuring a balcony with day bed plus table and chairs. The air conditioning was very welcome as we had some hot days. The bathroom has ample space with a rain shower. The bed is very comfy and we enjoyed the turn down service every night which meant the bed was ready to slip into and a light was on to make you feel welcome. The rooms were thoroughly cleaned every day. The pool area and the beach were also very well kept up. The restrooms in all public areas were absolutely spotless. The food was great. From the buffet at breakfast to the beach grill and the a la carte restaurant at night. We never had a disappointing mealtime. The service was always friendly and with a smile. The staff went out of their way to serve us. We enjoyed the low key entertainment and just loved having a drink at the bar talking to fellow guests. The resort was quiet at night. The only problem was the noise coming from the road but with some ear plugs this was not preventing us from having a restful night. So bring a pair if you are noise sensitive. All in all we had a most fantastic holiday here and can only recommend a stay.
Perfect Paradise

This was our second trip to SATP and it once again, it didn't disappoint. Yes, there were some things to improve, but overall, we had an amazing time and would recommend this resort to everyone. The staff and grounds are truly what stands out above everything else. Tamekia, Jason, Kirk and KenRoy in the dining room are completely amazing, especially Jason and Tamekia. They do such an incredible job to make you feel truly special. We got the BEST hugs from Tamekia when she saw us for the first time and it made my day. The food this visit was even better than the last. I dreamt of the pumpkin soup and it did not disappoint. Everything was well prepared and delicious. The other superstars of our stay were Odine and Brittany, who we affectionately called the "A-Team." They also remembered us from last year, as one of our group drank every drink from the menu. ?? They made sure we our drinks were always filled and it was a pleasure talking to them. They were always smiling and in good spirits. We loved when they were at the bar! Please keep those folks, as they are incredible at what they do! As to the cats at the resort, which is my biggest joy and also complaint... PLEASE GET THESE CATS SPAYED AND NEUTERED!!!! I spoke to Romeo, who is a GM, about this and he said they "were looking into getting this done." I know it is expensive, as I researched cost. Its around $100 US. There are many guests, myself included, who would gladly donate to this, if the resort was willing to get help with trapping and transport. Please, if management is reading this, set up a donation link and many folks will assist with getting Tom, Mama and the many Little Toms fixed!!! We love seeing and interacting with the cats, which is another reason why we come to SATP. I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea, but they are a huge part of the resort. It would be the best for everyone, cats included, if they were spayed and neutered. I'm jumping off my soapbox now... Aside from this, my only other complaint is the lack of late night food. Everything closes at 9 and after that, you are out of luck getting anything other than cheese or PB&J sandwiches. I wish they would have a burner with some snack food like hotdogs, burgers or warm finger foods throughout the late night until 1 a.m., when the pool bar closes. I would also like if you were able to get martinis after the martini bar closes, as we enjoyed the dirty martinis! We are already planning our next trip back, hopefully in a few months. SATP has become a huge part of our lives and we can't wait to return.

Peaceful Getaway at Sunset at the Palms!

We booked Sunset at the Palms with a relaxing, peaceful vacation in mind, and it absolutely delivered. This place is a true gem: intimate, quiet, and small (only ~80 rooms). If you’re looking for a laid-back vacay with no booming pool music, low-key nightlife, and a place to truly unwind, this place is perfect. If you want something lively, this probably isn’t it. I’d rate this closer to a 4.5-star resort (wish half stars were an option!). It would be a full 5, with just a few minor improvements. Overall, we loved our stay, talk about this place non-stop since returning home, and plan to return. The resort is across the street from the beach, which initially made us hesitate to book, but we ended up loving it. Being tucked away in lush, tropical gardens felt like a peaceful escape from Bloody Bay. The walk to the beach is short and easy, with security helping guests cross. On the resort at night, the sounds of tree frogs and crickets are amazing, and in the morning, the birds take over, such a cool atmosphere. We loved strolling the grounds, seeing the plants, birds, lizards... oh and the resort cats, whom we loved!!! We also loved the treehouse-style rooms. They aren’t ultra-modern, but they’re unique, comfortable, and exactly what we look for in a resort. The rainfall shower was great, and the balcony with a daybed was a highlight. We had coffee on our balcony while watching the sunrise over the mountains every morning and loved relaxing on it before dinner each evening. The room layout, especially the beds facing the glass doors, made waking up with natural light and birds singing so nice. Rooms were a 5/5 for us! Tip: Book the deluxe room, it’s worth the small price difference to be farther from the highway. The beach is breathtaking. Bloody Bay has crystal clear water and is perfect for long walks and swimming. The roped swimming area doesn’t go out very deep, but it’s long enough for a good swim. We also tried sea kayaking for the first time here and loved it since the water is so calm. If you use non-motorized water sports, make sure to get out there early in the morning as the boat traffic and waves pick up slightly in the afternoon. Make sure to get to the beach every evening for sunset!! Even on overcast days, the sky lights up and it's such a stunning time of day. I am an early bird and loved strolling the resort grounds at sunrise. If you look off the resort, facing away from the highway, you can catch the sunrise over the mountains. Sunrise at the palms was just as amazing as sunset at the palms! :) The food was excellent. I’m vegan and always found plenty to eat. The chefs were very accommodating when I asked for options or substitutions. The variety was great considering the size of the resort, and the quality was consistently high (the tofu curry one night was amazing!). We tried Lotus Leaf and enjoyed it, but ended up preferring the buffet for its variety and open-air atmosphere. Service was fantastic! Tamika and another server at dinner (so sorry I forgot her name!) were outstanding. Also, the Blue Mountain coffee is a must-try. The bartenders even made me a custom vegan “Jiggy Coffee,” which was delicious, but not really even Jiggy Coffee at all, which we all giggled about! We loved the steel drum band and live Jamaican reggae music! Music over dinner was such a highlight for us!!! We didn't go to the sing-along piano nights but heard it from dinner at the Lotus Leaf one night, and it sounded like an absolute hoot, and the pianist was great! A few minor areas for improvement: -Smoking policy: Our biggest issue was that the last couple days of our stay, our neighbours chain-smoked on their balcony. Every time we were out on ours, they were on theirs, and the smell drifted into our space and even woke us up early one morning. Although we let concierge know, the smoking continued. The resort has a designated smoking policy, and while it seemed most guests followed the rules and used the designated area, better enforcement would really help. -WiFi: It was spotty, especially at the beach, and stopped working entirely for me during the last few days. Not a dealbreaker if you want to disconnect—but something to be aware of. -Housekeeping timing: The room was always cleaned well, but the timing varied a lot. One day, our room was missed entirely (though they fixed it quickly after we asked). More consistency would make a difference for guests who like a routine. These were all relatively small issues, and aside from the smoking, they didn’t significantly impact our stay. Overall, this was an absolutely amazing experience and we truly loved it here. I can't wait to return one day!
Underwhelmed

We spent 12 nights at this resort at the end of March 2026. This was our 2nd trip to Jamaica but the first to Negril for the famous white sand beach/crystal blue sea experience. On this point we were not disappointed, despite the beach being across the road. We arrived after the evening buffet had closed however food had been reserved for us - this was much appreciated. As other reviewers have said, treehouses are a novel type of accommodation that sets the property apart from others on Bloody Bay. They are adequate but not in any way deluxe. Indeed the deluxe supplement is clearly for distance from the road only. In 401, road noise was significantly less noticeable than at other places around the property although the pool bar is close and this can be noisy until the early hours. We experienced the lotus leaf restaurant, chefs showcase and buffet. Food was generally good although on all 3 occasions at the lotus leaf restaurant, the same starters and mains were always unavailable, and the menu did not change during our stay. Buffet varies somewhat for breakfast and has themed nights at dinner that rotate on a weekly basis. Chefs showcase was an odd affair; basically we watched the chefs plate their food in front of the audience that had all been invited for a single sitting. Although the chefs introduced their dishes, they were not amplified so it was difficult to hear or interact, if that was even the intention. Again, the food was good & different to other dishes prepared on the property but the purpose of the event was unclear. Despite the many reviews praising the staff for their welcome, I did not find them this way, with only a few exceptions (Casheen, Tamika, Francois & Cornelius). Unlike many other resorts I have stayed in across the world, I found that friendly service was generally not forthcoming to a first time visitor. Service with a smile was sadly absent, particularly at breakfast and at the beach bar. I never felt before that my presence as a guest of a hotel was too much trouble for the servers; unfortunately that was my impression here.
