Lovely hotel, will return!

12061411 (Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom) on Feb 24, 2024

Everything about staying here was great. The key cards are personalised and you get to keep them which is a nice touch. The rooms are a great size for a family of five or even 6! There is a proper storage area for your luggage and plenty of space to move around. The kitchen facilities are good but we didn’t use them much. There is a fridge and a microwave. The laundry facilities were great $3 per cycle and you can pay by card. Wish I’d bought detergent earlier in the holiday though. Again to buy on site is $3 per wash as they come in individual sachets so not expensive but my son needed a sensitive skin detergent which was easily available at Walmart. I left behind the excess for others to use. I would have packed less if I’d known how good the washing facilities were before going. The pools attached to the hotel were lovely and the kids enjoyed the lazy river and the pool with the slide. Volcano bay is a very short walk away from the internal family rooms in the continental building. Parking was easy, there was always a space. I really loved staying here and would love to return.

Mattresses were??????????

teresa h on Feb 21, 2024

The mattress was sunk in at the center, and very, very soft, No support at all..my husband kept rolling into me. None of the buildings are marked, we had to slow down to see the building names on small plaques outside each bldg. The staff was very nice and helpful, that was the only plus.

Horrible

tabream2024 on Feb 19, 2024

As a UO member, my stay was horrible. We picked a pool view and got a view of a laundry mat. We was not notified that there was no more pool view rooms until we called about it.The bathroom doors didn’t close and the shower and tub ran at the same time.

Bad Company

Belinda S on Feb 18, 2024

As A Universal Employee I was treated like a common pezant . I paid for and reserved a pool view room ground floor because my granny who walks with a cane was coming with my little auntie who was turning 6. They put me in the back facing parking garage. When I saw the room and called front desk the guest service guy said we gave you what was available even through I was here at check in time . He said be grateful you got a room on employee discount. So because that I'm a pezant? Khaila at front desk did not say that. How is my granny to walk from back building to lobby. Less known drive loose handicap spot will have to park in overflow and walk far. Not what I expected as a Employee.

Cool hotel spoiled by terrible mattress

GR260 (Lakewood Ranch, Florida) on Feb 18, 2024

I had a very pleasant room in the Americana building with a great view of the water activities. I love the 50's/60's vibe of the whole property. It's such a great retro feel with lots of clever touches everywhere. So it would have been a great stay, EXCEPT... I think the mattress was actually from the 50's!!! I've stayed in $79 fleabag hotels with more comfortable bedding. Was it just my room (6716)? I hope so. Because in this day and age of middle-of-the-road places having comfortable pillow-top mattresses, this place is really banking too much on their throw-back decor and too little on a comfortable night's rest.
