Lotsa dining problems. Meh for the price.

Mikle S on Jul 14, 2024

Less than expected for the price. Smaller than expected and only one towel hook -- problematic at such a hot time of year as we showered twice/day (we saw space where other hooks may have been, but nothing there). The dining at Urban Pantry was not good, with problems on three out of four orders we made there (accuracy, register functionality, wait times, and food quality). Neither of us enjoyed our food from Bar 17. Convenience to the Parks was good via shuttle and shuttle drivers were friendly. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Probably will stay somewhere else next time though.

A Universal Highlight

Weedee93 (Belfast) on Jul 11, 2024

This was our first stay in a Universal property and we thoroughly enjoyed it. This hotel doesn’t have the Universal branding of the others but that suited us fine. The feel of this hotel is more modern and understated. The location is excellent - you can access Volcano Bay on foot via the dedicated walkway and the bus runs frequently from the front door. You can also use the water taxi from nearby Sapphire Falls which is the best way to arrive at the parks in our view. We had a room on the 12th floor which had a fabulous outlook over the parks. The room itself was clean and comfortable with all the amenities we required. The guest laundry facilities saved bringing home a washing pile - another plus point. Bar 17 served good food and drinks options and Bar Sol had generous measures. Urban pantry had enough options for breakfast and the pizza bar was good too. Any staff we spoke with were super friendly and helpful. As a general comment holidaying in Orlando has become more expensive post-covid but I think that’s true of all destinations. However $6 for water and $11 for sanitary products seems unjustifiable and should be reviewed. Overall this was another fantastic stay in Orlando and we would return to this hotel in a heartbeat. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!

Simplistic

DaytonaGuy (Haines City, Florida) on Jul 10, 2024

I have stayed at other Universal resorts before and have aways been satisfied and this was no exception. The resort is what I'd call modern simplistic. The lobby is expensive but very bland looking. The rooms are somewhat the same being devoid of art on the walls. The only real thing on the wall was a padded headboard that stretched the entire length of the wall. The rooms are technology enhanced with a pad that controls everything in the room. If you forget something go to the pad and choose what you need. After a brief period your phone will ring informing you it's outside of the door. You open the door and find out it's delivered by a robot! The room itself was very clean and in great shape. My only comment is that to open the drapes you have to use a control across the room. Surprisingly this option is not on the pad! The staff is extremely helpful and helpful even before your visit. I'd advise doing a pre check in which asks about special accommodations etc. Ad allergic to down I marked allergies. Days before I received a text asking for specific information. In addition I marked birthday as a special occasion. It was my understanding that by doing so you would receive a coupon for $5 off a desert. Won't get you much as not a wide variety of deserts to choose from. Pretty much only single Gelato. I did receive a small card signed by the staff and was offered a birthday button. Universal employees are trained to say happy birthday when they see one and I'd say 95% did. What blew me away was the number of guests that also said happy birthday! Did not get the opportunity to eat or drink while there however walking past the restaurant it looked quite simplistic especially compared to those at Saphire Falls one of the sister hotels next door. Wanted to try the rooftop bar/bistro but during the week they close at 11. Doesn't leave much if any time when park closes at 10. Transportation to the hotel is by waking path or shuttle bus. Although not a hotel amenity you can also walk to Saphire Falls to take the water taxi. It is a bit of a challenge to find though. After you enter the lobby you must go to the ground level. Beware the water taxi may not be running due to weather. We had to take the bus there because of this. The busses appeared to be running routes quickly though. All in all a great experience. Given the price level was worth it, especially given Florida Resident rates. Parking is an additional $23. We had 2 cars and only charged for one. I believe visitor parking is $30.

Most amazing hotel and so friendly

Kayleighh789 (Leicestershire, United Kingdom) on Jul 08, 2024

The best hotel and so very friendly. We have just returned to the uk after staying here with my partner for 2 weeks. The most amazing hotel from start to finish. The staff are so friendly. Greeted lovely when we first arrived at the hotel for check in reception staff go above and beyond. We had such a nice experience staying here and the rooms was just amazing we stayed on the 16th floor the view was just amazing. We loved that there was also a food area where you could have food such a pizzas chicken noodles rice a lot to pick from. We also payed for a refill drink cup for x2 weeks what you can assess for the full 14 nights 24hr a day. The maids are all so lovely as well they cleaned are rooms lovely and was super friendly. Honestly from start to finish just an amazing experience and I’d happily return. We also had our flights canceled before we checked out, we mentioned to the reception about this. The bloke we spoken to said do not worry we have availability here for you if you are not able to get your flight. What we thought was very nice so we did not worry or panic. However we managed to get the next flight lucky enough. Just like to say a very big thank you. Keep up your hard work as you all work so hard. 5*++++

Nice but expensive drinks

JenniferS65422 (Dunlap, Tennessee) on Jul 05, 2024

The hotel was nice and modern! We had to wait a bit at check-in but other than that it was very nice. The room controls were all on an iPad and that was nice. The king bed was okay but lumpy. I gave 4 stars because everything downstairs was way too expensive. Two drinks (a margarita and a beer) at the bar cost $30.00. A 20 oz Coke was over $5.00. And also parking the car at the hotel cost us $75.00 and there are no other options to park. But overall we enjoyed our stay and going to the parks.
