Needs updating

Nice location, welcoming lobby & friendly staff. Pool area is very nice. Rooms are dated & really in need of updating & the fitness room is very small & crowded.

The whole place is very rundown. The kitchen has no dishwasher. The breakfast was very basic. The afternoon happy hour was also very basic, but the fact that it exists is a plus. The outdoor space was nice. The pool was heated in the winter and I enjoyed a swim.
Classy with excellent staff

Sonesta Suites at Gainey Ranch offers a genuinely relaxing, upscale stay anchored by excellent service. From the welcoming lobby to the tranquil courtyard, the property feels thoughtfully designed for comfort. The spacious suite functioned like a true apartment, and the journaling prompt left on the bed was a charming touch. While breakfast food was forgettable, the attentive staff and convenient Scottsdale location more than made up for it.
Give it a try! Super nice people! Great location for good restaurants!

I’m on the fence with this hotel. I’m sure I would stay there again IF some things were different. First off the PROS! Very nice Staff, great location. Plenty of choices for breakfast. (Although there’s a mismatch of chairs to tables.) You can’t hardly get your legs under the table because the chairs are too tall! Every seat is a high seat with a low table except for one table/chairs set. All the men in the room were having trouble with that. It’s an older hotel but very clean and very friendly Housekeeping Staff. Hotel is located just around the corner from a grocery store, restaurants and a coffee shop all within walking distance. It’s quiet. (Unless you have an elephant thumpalump above you which we did but not the hotels fault). CONS! Our toilet ran constantly and we got in so late we kept bathroom door closed so we could sleep. That was turned into front desk so we’re confident that will be fixed. The light over the sink in kitchen went on/off randomly. We turned that in at desk also which can be fixed but the age of hotel means there’s not much lighting and it’s a dreary room when you can’t see in your purse/suitcase due to no light and opening the drapes did not help. We used our flashlights. There was never any coffee for guests in the lobby, or anywhere so if you got your coffee at breakfast that’s it! There’s not going to be any out the rest of the day! There’s only flavored water. I was told there’s coffee in my room! Well folks, that’s like drinking battery acid. That stuff doesn’t even resemble coffee! It’s awful! So big disappointment there but the coffee shop isn’t a far walk. We were given a good rate through Barrett-Jackson and this hotel isn’t far from there. It’s a very pretty hotel and a very pretty area. And again Amazingly nice Staff and well staffed!
Just ok for the price

We had booked a Studio Suite King with a patio and having the patio was great. The room décor needs updating, since the rooms are dark. The full-size refrigerator and dishwasher are a waste of space and could be used much better. The space would be much better used to have an enclosed bathroom, including sink so one person can get ready without disturbing the other. The resort charges a $30 fee daily which includes breakfast and Happy hour. To say the least breakfast is rather disappointing and bland, there is no fresh fruit nor any healthy choices available. The 1-hour happy hour is only from 5 to 6, a short time span and does not offer much. For the $30 extra fee I would also expect my room to be made up daily. We asked for it and only received housekeeping service one of our 4 days there.
