Lovely place to start our vacation

We got the standby upgrade for the studio patio suite and glad we decided on that as it was so nice to relax and recharge on the patio after our long haul flight. We last stayed here in 2015 when it was the Gainey Suites and it's almost as good as it was back then (we still have the teddies). The place appears well maintained, clean and staff were all friendly. I'm glad they kept the evening reception (though without the pizza etc) but I like red wine and they had a wine I believe from Arizona that I really enjoyed (I wish I could remember what it was called). There's a great Italian restaurant (Pomo) in the village shops that does stone baked pizzas like you might get in Italy (we also went to the village Tavern which was ok but seemed quite pricey). The expected extra charges for the upgrade etc I couldn't work out as didn't get a breakdown of charges on a receipt - but it was less than I was expecting so no complaint there.
Not showing resort fee on Priceline. Felt cheated

a) the curtains do not keep out the light but b) most importantly, on priceline, they have it buried that they charge a resort fee. Do they have it vaguely stated in the important info without saying what the fees are, yes, so they're legally in their right but if you see how other hotels CLEARLY show the resort fee while Sonesta did not, it's very easy to NOT see that there is a resort fee. It may not be legal cheating but it's cheating nonetheless and I didn't appreciate that. They've had priceline change this after i told them, but still charged me the fee. (pic one, another hotel showing the resort fee clearly. pic two mine NOT showing the resort fee). I picked that hotel due to the combined price of the hotel and no resort fee. Had it been correct, i would have gone to doubletree
