Disappointing Experience at Melia Caribe in Punta Cana

VladDall (Miami, Florida) on May 04, 2024

I regret to say that my recent stay at Melia Caribe in Punta Cana was far from satisfactory. From the subpar food to the lackluster alcoholic beverages, and the disappointing customer service, my experience was marred by numerous shortcomings. The food offered at the resort was basic at best, with limited options and uninspiring quality. Moreover, the selection of alcoholic beverages was severely restricted, leaving much to be desired. Booking directly with the hotel proved to be a mistake, as we did not receive any benefits. I would advise future guests to explore booking through Expedia, as they offer special deals with added perks, such as assigned concierge services, help with restaurant reservations and access to the Spa. During check-in, there was a push to upsell guests to a higher tier of accommodation for an additional fee “The Level”However, the benefits offered did not justify the steep price increase, making it a poor value proposition. The staff’s demeanor was consistently rude, and their willingness to accommodate guest requests was minimal. It was disheartening to encounter resistance at every turn, requiring unnecessary persuasion to receive basic assistance. While breakfast was the only meal of decent quality, the remaining dining options left much to be desired. The Italian (Rosso) and steakhouse ( Tauro) restaurants were particularly disappointing, with offerings that fell below expectations. Additionally, the requirement to pay extra for certain cuisine types ( Japanese Restaurant) further compounded the dissatisfaction. The atmosphere at the resort was further marred by disturbances, including fights among guests during meal times. It seems they have a local promotion at a very local price. This created a chaotic and unpleasant environment, detracting from the overall experience. In conclusion, I cannot in good conscience recommend Melia Caribe in Punta Cana to others. With its myriad issues ranging from mediocre food and beverages ( warm beer only Presidente) to poor customer service ( rude and zero customer satisfaction oriented) and disruptive atmosphere, it fails to meet even the most basic standards of a satisfactory resort experience.

Poor Quality of Service - Not Recommended ( 2nd Expereince That was Poor)

natalielamotheg (New York City, New York) on May 04, 2024

Lock to the door of the room was broken, room was dusty especially the headboard, there was tape on the walls, luggage was never picked up at 6:45am as scheduled on the day of check out, there were no pool towels on our 1st day at the Level pool, the next day we went to the pool they wouldn't give us towel because we didn't have pool cards and we weren't given any at check in, at breakfast at the Riviera staff stood around as we were still waiting for water and coffee. In our room the light bulb was out on the balcony, jacuzzi tub did not work ( freezing cold water), and there was to toilet paper holder( It was broken on arrival). Additionally the toilet latch was broken and we had to call maintenance since you could not flush the toilet. Spa did not have ANY towels nor was there an attempt to get any. Spa jacuzzi jets were not working at all in 2 of their hot tubs. Overall poor experience would NOT recommend)

LEVEL! LEVEL! LEVEL!

swordfish-miami (Fort Myers Beach, Florida) on May 03, 2024

Hopefully, my review title points you in the right direction and that right direction is LEVEL! First, second and third off... huge fist bumps to Jenfry, Yanelitza and all of Melia for a wonderful 10 days 9 nights of paradise! We were LEVEL guests and anyone knocking or doubting the elevated services are either unwilling to pony up a mere few bucks more or have children which disqualify them at the gate. My initial reasoning for LEVEL was for the true all inclusive treatment. LEVEL guests have access to everything! EVERYTHING. If you are not a level guest, then you do not. Our stay was with family. We had our 21 and 22 year old sons with us and my 42 year old brother had a LEVEL suite with a friend. The LEVEL beach area might be right next to the regular beach area. However, that is where the similarities end and where LEVEL rises. The high end beach furniture and superior lounge service clearly stood out before we were even seated. Moving to dinner, we decided on Japanese for the first night. I didn't see any non level guest bands. Or at least we didn't meet any. The presentation was amazing and the food was above average. On day 2, we started off with breakfast and relaxed in The LEVEL Lounge, with a beautiful view and steps from the beach. This was like having our own den or adult tree house. I could go on and on and on from day three through 10 but it's all LEVEL and amazing fun! Take from me, a senior TA contributor. I'm not one of these 20, 15, 10 5 or less review hacks. Go LEVEL! Melia is amazing and LEVEL is worth it!
