Check In (Level) - some people have noted a long wait. Ours was about 30min. We believe the wait is so that your concierge can bring you but they have others waiting before you. Room - we were in 4821 a level junior suite. It was across from Level pool and Rivera restaurant. Closest to lobby. The beach and non Level pool we had to take train. Was it clean - mostly (sheets had a stain (looked like coffee). It was dated and in need of some TLC (toilet handle loose, jets in tub did not work, cracked paint, stain/worn tub). Room had microwave and stove top, coffee maker, King bed and pull out couch, two TVs. The mini bar was water, soda, juice and a few beers. We asked about liquor and was told we could only get beer, wine and champagne. There were a few snacks (chips, cookies, chocolate). The AC worked but was definitely not cool enough for us. Housekeeping/maintenance- we had to ask a few times for towels but came fairly quickly. Maintenance came a few times for toilet and AC. The grounds - mostly clean but again needed TLC. (Painting, worn down) Beach (Level) - it was fine but water had sea weed (not at all their fault) and the vendors are everywhere but most of them if you say no thank you they move on. We had one that was very pushy. Again TLC (painting , worn down, stains on day beds) We never had an issue getting chair/day bed or drink. Pool (Level) - again mostly clean but needs TLC. (Jets don’t work, painting, worn down, stains on day beds) We never had an issue getting chair/day bed or drink. Sometimes the music was a bit much but not awful. Would have liked a variety of music and not just Spanish. The bartenders were hit or miss with service. Concierge - Hector was great but if you don’t ask they definitely won’t do anything except check on you once a day. You talk to them via what’s up app. He made reservations for us, helped with housekeeping and maintenance, planned some birthday surprises for my husband including a horse and carriage ride. Meliá App - events seemed correct for night but not always day. Restaurants open was not always correct. It seems like on some nights some were closed but that was not reflected in the app. We tried to use the app to request room items (when concierge was not working) it never worked. Night Entertainment - is it the best we have seen nope but it’s something to see/do at night. By far the best night was the Elvis show. Trains/golf carts - the trains run about every 15 min if you are Level you have golf cart option as well. We preferred them but we took whatever came first. Food: (we had reservations so don’t know about wait times for non reservation but nothing was ever busy) - Hacienda(dinner): big appetizer bar, food was good, service was good - Tartufo(dinner): big appetizer bar, best meal we had all week, service was not the friendliest - Merkado(breakfast): a little more selection then Rivera buffet but lower quality and service not as good either - Merkado(dinner): big selection just your typical buffet service was ok - Bazaar(dinner): good food and service - Cape Nao(lunch): food was ok your typical snack shack with salad and burgers and fries, service was ok - Rivera(breakfast): typical breakfast buffet but because it Level only food seems a bit better than other buffets. Food was pretty much the same every morning. Eggs to order. Service was great after first day when we found Josephina. She is amazing. She even had special set ups with flowers every morning! The staff at the Rivera for breakfast and lunch were all fantastic! - Rivera(lunch): typical lunch Buffett that included pasta and meat/seafood to order. Service was good. - Rivera(dinner): Buffet is just like lunch. Al a cart selection is small but was ok. Service was good. - Level BBQ: it was just like the buffets. Service was good. Music and show were ok. - Hokkaido ($39-$59pp): our other favorite meal. Great service and food. - Snack shack at Level pool: typical fries, burgers, chicken it was ok Tipping - we did not see many people tip. We were shocked. We tipped $2-$10 depending on level of service (buffet vs sit down, just drinks, ect.) we tipped the concierge about $20-30 a day depending on what he did that day. Smoking - we smoke and never had an issue. General comments - we realize we are in the DR and spanish is spoken but it would have been nice to have more English translation. We had no idea what the music was, no clue what staff was saying unless you found someone who knew some English, had no idea what entertainment staff was saying, menus in Spanish with loose English translation. For example we asked for face/wash clothes and gestured what we wanted and ended up with tissues, we asked to speak to a boss/manager to pay a compliment and got a trash bag. Bring what you need (sunscreen, medicine etc it is very expensive at the store - $43 US for a small bottle of sun screen) Be aware of time share people. “Free massage or free voucher” is not free. We were stalked by one and our concierge finally had to get him to back off. In the lobby we had Leonela almost every night and she was very attentive and by the end of the week she knew us and our order! Final thoughts - for what we paid this is what we expected. We go to the Caribbean a lot and stay at all inclusive and they are much better but we paid more. We personally would not come back here but mostly because of the lack of English translation and entertainment. We also suggest 1000% to get Level.

Great staff, food and Wi-Fi. Busy areas were a bit too much! Go for the Levels at an extra cost.

The food was great, WiFi was excellent everywhere for such a big site. the room was nice, the Levels area was nice and we wish we had booked it for both days, the main areas and especially the buffet were too busy, with kids everywhere being disruptive and queues were really unorganised. Juan Gonzalez and Luz del Rosario were really friendly and helpful.
