Worth the stay

The resort and staff were wonderful! Juan Carlos butler was absolutely amazing and made our stay so memorable! The food does get repetitive as does any resort.
Ideal place for family vacations

The hotel had everything. It says 4 stars but I could easily give it a 4,5*. There was activities and places for all ages. I particularly liked the kids areas ideal go small babies and the pools which had nice places rest. The kindness of the people was amazing and always happy to receive us anywhere we went. Will definitely Come back. One thing to improve is the quality of cokes, beers and wines in the buffet areas.
Terrible place with unmaintained rooms

Check in was easy but they gave us rooms without proper workin Air conditioning and when we reported it, they said they’d have someone assess but can’t give us new rooms until the assessment is done and it’s uncovered that the air conditioning is broken. They came in the evening and said they’d come back while we were at dinner. Well, they never came back, never fixed it. My room was by the late night entertainment and it was so loud until 11pm. We decided to leave because it was unbearable with the heat being 80 degrees Fahrenheit/27 degrees Celsius in the rooms. They didn’t try to even look for a new room until we went to check out and by that point we had already booked an Airbnb for the night while we figured out where to go next. Maybe it was a poor luck of the draw for us but even paying for a cheap hotel, I’d expect the basics and they didn’t deliver on that.
Go elsewhere.

The grounds are nice. That's it. The food is terrible. There is little variety and nothing for those with food sensitivities or special dietary needs. The rooms are outdated. Housekeeping only makes beds and removes towels. They do not replace them daily or provide washclothes.
Good Time

Our stay was mixed with more positives than negatives. We travelled with our 6 year old who really enjoyed the waterslides and rock climbing wall - these were a highlight for her and she did both every day of our trip. Room: We originally in building 1 - the room was outdated but clean, the toilet took a bit of work to flush each time but the AC was amazing. At 4am on our first night, the RIU next door starting blaring music at 4am and this lasted to 6am. With a pillow over my head it was still loud. I'm all for a good party, but 4am was a little early for us to wake up every day so we requested a room change. We ended up in building 4 and the washroom was more modern but the AC did not work well. We made do and didnt want to have to change rooms again. The rooms were nothing fancy but functional and clean. The housekeeping staff always came early and we left tips each day and we received beers in our fridge, which was nice. Towels replaced every day. Food: We are not picky and quite easy when it comes to food. Having said this, there was always a lot of options but taste was hit or miss. We were never hungry but some nights we left the buffet underwhelmed. Some nights were better than others, but overall if you are a foodie, this may not be the place for you. I would say food is just ok. We went to one ala carte, Tokyo, and we went two times. We found the food the best here and really enjoyed it. Our daughter is picky so we often dont do ala cartes but she likes teppanyaki so we decided to go there two times and she liked it as well. This was a highlight for us. Pizza above the snack bar was a solid all week, also the snack bar for lunches. Beach: Lovely, the colours are beautiful and a true highlight of the resort. Waves can get a bit intense but we had fun jumping into the waves. We prefer a calm beach, but we definitely did not have any complaints about this beach at all. One of the top highlights for us was this beach, it is a true gem. Chairs: We were always able to find chairs. We were at the pool by 9am so chairs were no problem. We always got an umbrella but as the day goes on the chances on getting a chair lessen. We were always able to find chairs on the beach, no matter what time of day. We preferred the family pool, although, rotated between pools and beach. Pools: Pools were adequate and nice. We spent most time at the family pool and when they have the foam party there it became a bit intense. Not a reflection on the resort, but people became rude. We had chairs that we had been in all day and we had gone into the pool just steps in front of us and a group came over and sat on all out belongings (we are talking our own personal towels from home, our cover ups/t shirts/, my daughters goggles, etc.) It was quite evident our chairs were occupied but when we approached them they said they did not speak english and ignored us. Luckily one of the staff from the pool bar saw and came over and spoke to them and they did end up moving but this happened again soon after. We ended up forgoing the foam party and going to the other pool. If you don't speak Spanish, communication can be difficult as most of the people who come to this resort are not English speaking. The day after the foam party the family pool as a mess, clumps of hair, plastic cups floating around, etc. Aside from this, the pools were clean. Overall we had fun, we got an abundance of sunshine and ample beach time. We enjoyed our time, but likely will not be back unless we find a really good deal. If you're just looking for simple, affordable and straight forward all inclusive with no frills, this one checks the boxes.
