Fun stay

Perfect Getaway

Our stay at Occidental Calibre Punta Cana was absolutely amazing! The customer service was truly exceptional from start to finish. A special thank you to Chen and Alondra at the front desk—they were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful, making check-in and every interaction smooth and pleasant. Huge appreciation to Cindy from Butler Services, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. Ana Marie at the bar was fantastic—always friendly, attentive, and making the best drinks with a smile! Shoutout to Wilkins and Randli, the baggage handlers, for their professionalism, kindness, and efficiency. They made arrival and departure stress-free and easy. The property was spotless and beautifully maintained, and the beachfront was pure luxury—stunning views, pristine sand, and the perfect place to relax. This resort truly knows how to treat its guests, and the staff made our experience unforgettable. We can’t wait to return and would highly recommend Occidental Calibre Punta Cana to anyone looking for top-tier service, comfort, and a dream vacation!

Deeply Disappointing and Misrepresented Experience

Our family left Occidental Caribe less than 24 hours after arrival due to the sheer volume and severity of issues we experienced. This was not a single inconvenience—it was a systemic failure across service, cleanliness, dining, room conditions, amenities, and safety. We chose this resort because we are loyal Barceló guests and have stayed multiple times at Barceló Maya Palace, which has always been excellent. Unfortunately, Occidental Caribe was nowhere near that standard. From the moment we arrived, we witnessed multiple guests ahead of us complaining at the front desk about room issues. That should have been a warning sign. Dining was a major failure. We were told there were no dinner reservations available for our entire stay, despite multiple restaurants being advertised as part of the all-inclusive package. Lunch was chaotic—dirty tables, no greeting, staff standing around chatting, and we had to clean our own table. Drinks we ordered never arrived. Dinner was even worse. The only option available required a 45+ minute wait just to be seated, and the environment was overcrowded and chaotic. Food trays were emptied almost immediately after being placed out, and no waiter came to offer water or beverages. The resort was clearly overbooked. There were no available lounge chairs anywhere, and pools were littered with plastic cups and debris. Our room was unacceptable. We booked a king bed and received two full beds. The TV didn’t work, water pressure was nearly nonexistent, there was no hot water, and the toilet didn’t flush. Calls to the front desk went unanswered, and we were told no engineer was available until the next day. The next morning, while waiting to speak with the manager, we overheard multiple other guests reporting similar issues—broken TVs, leaking toilets, flooded rooms, and rooms placed far apart despite special needs. The fitness center was a safety hazard. Equipment was outdated, poorly maintained, and some machines were broken. Other guests warned us not to use certain equipment due to safety concerns. At breakfast, despite being seated, no one came to our table once to offer water or drinks. Management offered to change our room, but by that point it was clear the problems were resort-wide, not isolated. A room change would not have fixed the experience. Too big and food is not good

Wec read the reviews prior going but this was a total disappointment. If you like eating well and enjoying good drinks, don't go there. The A la carte restaurants can only be booked on Sunday, so good luck, the buffet food is gross and staff are not friendly. The beach and pools are good but make sure you get up no later than 7 to catch a chair. Entertainment is good too. We will never go back there.
