My wife and I stayed here for 10 nights in September. The garden view bungalow that we stayed in was very spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The entire resort is amazing. Extremely clean and very quiet. The pools and the beach are beautiful. The entire staff were very friendly and professional. The concierge set up all our amazing tours and adventures. The on premise restaurants are great. We really enjoyed breakfast every morning looking out over the ocean. The resort is walking distance to great restaurants, bars, cafes and shopping. One of my favorite places to visit in the resort was their Starbucks. Betty is one of the friendliest baristas I have ever met!! She would greet me every day with a big smile and my latte was always spot on!! It was our first time in Playa Del Carmen and thanks to everyone at Mahekal Beach Resort, we can’t wait to go back!!!
The best vacation, I would return!

I just got home from the absolute best vacation. I assumed the photos were altered and it wouldn't look as nice to reality, but the photos are real. The water was turquoise blue, the grounds were clean and everything was well maintained. There were ample seating options around the pools and beach, with good shade as well. The drinks were tasty and fairly priced. My favorite is the location, walking right out on the street to try amazing restaurants. I hate feeling trapped on a resort and this had all the amenities of a resort with the downtown location near places to eat and shop. I rarely like to return to the same place but I would return without any hesitation. Only bad things was that there were a lot of biting bugs (mosquitos, sand flies?) that bit up my feet/ankles. I brought bug spray but didn't use it. I should have. My own fault. And there was loud music 2 out of 4 nights although I was so relaxed I was able to sleep anyway. I'm normally a light sleeper who struggles with insomnia but I slept like a baby each night.
