This is my second stay at Occidental and this time I came with my husband. We had a blast exploring the grounds and spotting monkeys, Iguanas, Coati, Agoti, a variety of birds and marine life. Want to say a special thanks to Sergio Alcantara for his hospitality, humor and his help with navigating the property. He made us feel right at home and we enjoyed talking to him and learning about the culture. Well done Sergio, we will be back and will come find you. Cheers!

So we tried this hotel for our second visit in Mexico. Official 5 star rating. Staff is five star, very nice and helpful in all ways, even if language can cause some misunderstandings. The resort is huge with one general pool area in a lush green tropical surrounding. There are a lot of wild animals like white tailed deers, monkeys, Iguanas, agutis and one or another racoon. Pool life is easy, plenty of charis, no meaning reserving, there are plenty there. Most people arrive around 11am so no rush, manana is the key word. Still a bit disturbing with the noisy pool activities, and as we are travelling with a 15 year old, we are not welcome at the adult part of the pool area. They should consider changing from 18 to 15 instead. Understand that small children may tend to be noisy but still over refreshed adults may pose the same disturbances. The beach is man made, not the long white beaches as in Playa Carmen, but it is nice in multiple levels, plenty of sunbeds and relaxed, except for the water zumba class but yet, it is a part of the concept. The beach bar has the best drinks if you want something a bit better. There are many restaurants to choose from in all possible styles and tastes. Our favourite was the D'oriental with great Asian food. Also the Mexican style was good. Hence this is all inclusive so do not expect the super classy tastes but still ok. Very cozy atmosphere with water running throughout the hotel and surrounding areas. Price level in the hotel shops is sky high as in all resorts (a bag of popcorn is close to usd 6) Rooms are ok, not five star class, but still ok but they seriously needs som love and care with loose handles and water taps not tightened. One thing to mention is their Occidental club time-share program that they are very eager to sell to everybody. If you have too much free time and a lot of money to spare then it may be something for you. Anyway a nice place with super friendly staff! Thank you for a nice stay!

Our second time at this resort further exceeded our expectations of our first great stay! We will definitely be returning and hope to bring other family members and friends.

After being married for 27 years, we made Occidental are destination for our long awaited Honeymoon. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the staff , Sandra, Aleshya, Iris and Andrea in the Royal level. The ocean views and swim at Alberca de Agua de mar which we nicknamed “Tres Rocks” was outstanding as was are entire stay. We can not say enough about the staff at all the staff at the resort who are friendly as well as helpful. Thank you to all and we will definitely returning in the future.
