Would not return

paricce d on Oct 05, 2024

Second time visiting the hotel and only came back because it came with cheaper admission to the Xcaret park. Would certainly not return. The grounds are beautiful and has the potential to be a five star resort BUT this hotel is a 3 star at the most. The room was spacious but the bedding smelt like somebody else’s sweat. Washing facilities are clearly not very good. Had to bring own pillow cases and bedding. We were also required to go to Walmart and purchase towels as the ones provided in the room smelt like sweat. Shower pressure is not good and water does not stay at one temperature.. the seating located around the hotel, particularly in and around the main lobby, could use a clean. They are dirty and smell. You are required to make reservations for the restaurants for dinner however there is a dress code and if you are a gentleman with no trousers, they will not let you in. There were three power outages which meant AC did not work in the rooms for long periods of time. Service is terrible. We booked with a promotion of receiving credit for services/activities in the hotel and Xcaret park, however, as the promotion had changed since our booking, the hotel refused the honour it and we were therefore left out of pocket by £700. Food is subpar. Nothing special and at times food was not edible.

Horrible Management

Yalla_habibi_323 (Kuwait City, Kuwait) on Oct 03, 2024

First off, let me start by saying this is my fourth time staying here and I have loved this hotel before this stay and that is why I keep coming back. The atmosphere here is beautiful, right in the middle of the jungle with wild monkeys, iguanas, deer, and lemurs all over! The trees and beach with the preserved Mayan buildings are wonderful. The facilities are kept up well and the property is clean. The staff was friendly as well as helpful. However, the reason why I am giving them 3 stars is due to the front desk Admin. Upon checking in something seemed off but I didn't read too much in t it. The next day a front desk member opened my room and just walked in and said sorry this room says vacant. That night my key didn't work so I had to get it reprogrammed. The following day as well. I traveled from the Middle East to see Chichen Itza. It was a Tuesday. during my excursion, David Medina from reception kept emailing me telling me I needed to check out and wanted to know why my luggage was still in the room because check out was at 11. I responded the first time telling him I checked out on Thursday and what was he talking about. For the next 3/4 hours, he kept emailing me and calling telling me I was supposed to check out. I was so upset and frustrated. I even sent him a screenshot of my reservations. he said I was wrong. Well turns out they put me in the wrong room to begin with under a woman's name. This guy ruined my entire trip to the Pyramids all because one of the front desks messed up during check-in. Things happen I get it. However, the invoice he was sending me had a woman's name on it and he did not even bother to make sure it was correct even after I told and showed him I don't check out until Thursday. They put me in a lower-class room and did nothing to try and fix it. When I told him over the phone he sent me someone else info all he did was say sorry and blamed the people at the front desk and told me to stop at the front desk so they could reprogram my room key. I told him he ruined my trip and I would speak to him in person when I arrived back to the hotel. When I got back he avoided me . This by far has been the worst experience I have ever had at any hotel. Because of David Medina, I will NEVER go back here!! Without him, the hotel is great. As I stated earlier, this was my fourth time here.
