This resort is very good. Excellent location next to Xcaret and in a very natural jungle location. Monkeys and other wildlife abound. Beach is small and man made but very nice when the water was rough. Excellent snorkeling right at the resort. Food is ok for all-inclusive but could be better.

Overall stay was good. Cons :The major complaint is quality and variety of food in buffets, cold water in the pools, not enough chairs for everyone, limited numbers of designated smoking areas.

We just got back from another stay at Occidental Xcaret. We do this trip every year and stay in the Royal Area. I think that there are a number of issues that need to be addressed by management: 1. First of all, the beach chairs at the beach are 50% broken. Literally, half of them don’t work. Why can’t you just replace them? 2. Also, there needs to be more activities at the beach besides the 11am Zumba class. In previous years, there were soccer games, tug-of-war, and contests for kids but it seems all of that is gone. They need to bring them back. Most people go to the beach and there is very little that the entertainment team does there besides the Zumba. It is an opportunity lost. 3. Another problem is the Kids Club and screens. Why is there TV there? If wanted my children to watch TV, I would not bring them there. I would leave them in my room. Please get rid of TV and instead offer actual activities for children. I did not see very many toys inside. It was just a person watching the kids as they watch TV or play on their phones because they are bored. 4. The volleybal court at the beach is just straight up cement with a small layer of sand on top. Please add a lot more sand so people don’t get hurt falling on cement. 5. There needs to be more kid entertainment after dinner. Most of the people who come here are with Kids and the evening program needs more work. There is a very good Kids Show but it starts really late for some reason (8:30pm) and there is nothing to occupy the kids until then. Also, the Kids show only lasts for 30 mins. I think having an expanded Kids Show from 8pm to 9pm would be great. It’s actually a very good activity where the Kids get to participate and be active. We need more of that. The big positive about this resort is the people who work there. They are amazing. Everyone from the entertainment staff to the Royal area admin ladies to the beach club restaurant servers are very good. They make this resort worth coming back to, provided management fixes some of these other issues. Also, the wild animals that roam the grounds and the beach lagoon are really cool.

We spent 5 days thru New Year’s Eve. Best vacation, staff was phenomenal, rooms were very nice. Grounds were well kept. Would highly recommend
