Great Vacation

We had an amazing time. We were in a butler room. The butler team was amazing. Especially Marva Celestine. Everyone at the resort was friendly and welcoming.

Honeymoon February 2026

Amy O on Feb 27, 2026

We stayed here for our honeymoon for one week in February 2026. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. I've tried to breakdown our thoughts into sections so do bear with me! Firstly - it's a long transfer - roughly an hour and half. If you can spare the cash I highly recommend looking at the helicopter option. It doesn't save you time per se given you'll need to wait for it to be prepared, but it's a 12 minute transfer, coupled with exceptional views. The private transfer isn't worth it. The minibuses are air conned and the drivers will give you information about the local area as you progress, more often than not the private transfers arrive AFTER the minibus so not sure really what you're benefitting from. Accommodation - We stayed in a room by the Lazy River, the location was great and I would say the quietest location on the resort. The main pool and activities are over the other side and if you stay there it will be quite loud for the duration of your stay in the evenings. Our room was spacious and clean, plenty of storage, hangers and a safe. The room was a little tired looking, especially the bathroom. We used a room on our last day to freshen up (check out is 11am and our transfer wasn't until 4pm), it was a tranquillity tub room between the main pool and lazy river. It had been recently renovated and was much nicer. I dare say they are renovating all rooms on the resort but it's worth mentioning this if you're thinking of booking and are wanting a renovated room. Resort - Halcyon is the smallest of all 3 Sandals Resorts in Saint Lucia. We chose this one for it's more intimate setting, but I wasn't keen on the main pool area as it was quite noisy. The main pool are where all the activities take place each day. We participated in a couple but unfortunately found that most of the time things didn't happen at all. For example pool volleyball should be on most days, but only happened once during our stay. The reps, whilst friendly and approachable, don't go out of their way to encourage the activities. A net was put up and that was it - no announcement or reps to be seen which is a shame. There was table tennis by the lazy river and quieter pool which we enjoyed using. After a few days it was moved, we were told for a table tennis tournament - this didn't happen and then it disappeared altogether which was a bit of a shame. The resort itself is very clean but a little tired looking, especially round by the main pool, where the tiles on the floor get extremely hot - you cannot walk on them without footwear during the day. They've used a different material round by the lazy river which is fine to walk barefoot on and generally looks a bit more modern round there. Entertainment - the evening entertainment is great. We particularly enjoyed the Taste of St Lucia night, it coincided with their Independence day and was fantastic, well worth experiencing. Most of the songs are the same just sang in different styles - we heard Time after Time by Cyndi Lauper in country, by a violinist and another style pretty much every day, so don't expect too much variety in songs, but the acts are very good and we enjoyed what we saw. Restaurants - They are quite hit and miss, we found Bayside for breakfast and lunch really good, lunches are themed so there's a different choice on offer each day. Breakfast is the same but there's so much on offer you won't get bored. Kelly's Dockside is highly rated on here but in all honesty we were bitterly disappointed. We went twice for breakfast, both times the food was just OK and the wait is very long. Kelly's is also desperately in need of a new floor, it's coming up in lots of places and the laminate is peeling everywhere. We went once for dinner, again the wait was very long. My husband opted for the mixed grill and they left items off the plate, we did ask for these but again, long wait. Dessert is a sharing plate for two consisting of 3 bitesize cold desserts - we waited for 40 minutes and decided to leave as we couldn't be bothered to wait any longer. Mario's is the Italian restaurant and is just awful. Starters consist of a buffet table of antipasti - the restaurant opens at 6pm, we visited at 7.30pm (it closes at 9 or 10pm) and there was no antipasti left and it wasn't topped up - hugely disappointing. We ordered the Chicken Parm and a Lasagne. The chicken was grey and super thin, I had one bite and left it. The lasagne looked like it had been heated in a microwave, no sauce whatsoever and very dry. We met a couple who had the carbonara and said that was nice - we didn't risk going back. The Beach Bistrot is OK, nothing really wrong with the food, but again the wait is very long. We went one lunch to get food to go to eat back at the pool. We waited an hour for a quesadilla and chips, was told they'd forgotten our order when we chased it up. We were told to come back in another 20 minutes and it would be done which it was, but nearly an hour and half for quesadilla and chips is just too long. The Pizza truck is great - fresh wood fired pizza that tastes delicious - highly recommend that one. Soy is their Sushi restaurant and I cannot recommend this one enough - the quality is outstanding, taste is incredible and the service is so fast! the chef is super experienced and everything is prepared in front of you - well worth a visit and best thing is no reservation is required! Kimonos is nice - fresh and good tasting food prepared on the teppanyaki - some chefs are more dramatic than others, so the theatre element is hit and miss but don't let that stop you from going as the food is very tasty. We stayed for one week and didn't feel that there was enough on offer at the resort for a longer stay, we did struggle on where we would eat dinner after day 4. We tried Bombay at the Grande which is their Indian restaurant. I highly recommend trying this, the food is delicious, the restaurant is beautiful, as is the whole resort. This is the newest of their resorts and you can tell, it's stunning. Shuttles - We do have an issue with the shuttles. We went to the Grande once as I mentioned. We could only get a reservation for 6pm which meant we needed to get the shuttle at 5pm - they run once per hour from 11ami-ish. The traffic on the Island is awful - no one's fault obviously - but getting around is time consuming. The transfer didn't turn up until 5.40, they do honour the booking as they understand about the traffic, but the last shuttle back is at 9pm which doesn't leave you much in the way of time to have dinner and drink before heading back. It was so off putting that we didn't visit La Toc. Trip - there are a variety on trips on offer and I would highly recommend getting out and seeing the Island as it is so beautiful. We chose the Chocolate Decandence tour and WOW! We started our day with a Catamaran journey from Castries (10 minute drive away) to Soufriere - stunning, we even saw a whale!! So amazing! From there we took a minibus to the Hotel Chocolat plantation and learnt about the way they grown their plants and how they make their chocolate - NO NIBS, NO CHOCOLAT - if you know, you know! We then made our own chocolate bar - again great experience, the staff are so knowledgeable and it's so fun. From there we had lunch - super tasty - on site, there's a fair amount of choice and of course chocolate was included! From there we visited a live volcano site - very interesting and a great element. We then went to the mud bath next door - the volcanos are far smellier than the mud baths! Be sure to bring dark swimwear and prepare for it to smell afterwards. We then took the Catamaran from Soufriere to another resort called Sugar Beach for a spot of snorkelling - beautiful resort, huge beach, we had a great time here. We then took the Catamaran back to Castries. It's a long day finishing up around 7.30pm but honestly so worth it - it was a real highlight from our trip. We generally found the staff to be so polite and professional, we were really impressed with the service. We did have an issue on the last day, we'd gotten changed to get our transfer and I wanted a glass of water prior to departure. I approached the bar at the main pool where we had been served all day and waited to be served. More people came to the bar, as you would expect, but I was being ignored. I asked the server why I was being skipped all the time and they replied that current guests take priority. I know it's only a small thing but it's left a pretty sour taste in our mouths given how much money we had paid for our trip, I only wanted a water! I know we've given it a bit of a bashing, but it honestly is a beautiful place and we don't regret our choice at all, we honestly had the best time and consider ourselves so grateful to have had the experience.

Week Stay at the Halcyon

Katie B on Feb 19, 2026

We had a lovely time during our week stay in St. Lucia at the Halcyon. Fantastic service, particularly from Trista during our meals at the resort restaurants. We can't thank the staff members enough for making our experience memorable and relaxing. Highly recommend visiting the island and staying at this resort during your time there. Being able to visit the Grande and La Toc as well was the perfect balance for us.

Good But Not The Best

B1116PHcharlesr (Wildwood, New Jersey) on Feb 18, 2026

Okay, could be better. No reliable wakeup service & no clocks in rooms. Paridise pool bar mostly unattended, if you don t want to wait 10 minutesto be noticed you will need to leave the pool and go up to the bar on pool patio.
