Not anywhere close to a five star resort
Dave R (Holland, Michigan) on Jan 12, 2025
We vacationed at this location 10 years ago and found the staff much more accommodating and to have you as a guest. Not so this time and not everyone but most seemed put off.Our room was old dirty and in disrepair and desperately needed a update.Bar and restaurant staff were not adequately trained and unable to perform more than one task at a time.Lack of chairs at pools … who’s cushions needed to be replaced….was a frequent complaint by many guests. New Year’s Eve entertainment was okay but the last two hours turned into a party for locals/staff with them taking over dance floor etc..The food at restaurants was good but not what you expect from a five star resort. Local restaurants much better.Drinks were inconsistent again showing lack of training. Bottom line is when you are paying 1000.00 plus per night you expect more and Sandals failed to deliver. I reviewed this location on their website listing a number of places where I felt they could improve etc… they sent me a response… obviously a form letter… thanking me for a great review??…once again showing management lack of attention to details.
Amazing, truly the best holiday ever :-)

Wow wow wow what an amazing hotel. We stayed in the hotel and had our wedding in the Halycon. I would highly recommend, The wedding planner in the hotel was so accommodating and really made sure our whole stay and wedding day was special. The whole team in the hotel were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was spotless and well kept. Being able to take advantage of the other 2 hotels in St Lucia was a bonus and I would strongly recommend The Grande for an evening meal. We are now hooked like many other and are a true sandals fan and already looking to book our next sandals holiday.
Great low key place

Airport was decent. Ride to sandals was 1 1/2 hours long in the hills. Horrible ride. Multiple people including my wife wanted to throw up. Arrival was a great experience. Overall this place is smaller and more low key. If that’s what you like then you’ll love it here. Seems like an older crowd. A lot of people from uk and everyone we met was great and we had a blast. They have the main pool is you want more music and stuff. Then there is a smaller more quiet pool by our room. We like being able to choose different pools. Drinks were great. Again, just just have to find your fav bartender and stick with them. Staff was great and friendly. Room. We loved our room and the location of it. Best part of st Lucia is you can go to the other two sandals and they have shuttles running all the time. We spent time at the other two sandals. There is pros and cons to all of these sandals so it really depends on what’s important to you. The gym was pretty good at this sandals with newer equipment. The beach was pretty small here but ok overall
Wonderfully Quiet and Peaceful...Most of the Time.

My wife and I recently went to Halcyon for our 25th anniversary. We have never been to a Sandal's Resort and overall, our experience was wonderful. The food was great and the drinks were perfect. The people at the resort, both the workers and the visitors, were extremely polite, helpful, and positive. Outside the door of our room was a beautiful garden filled with mango trees, coconut trees, and banana trees. The aroma of the vast variety of flowering plants, trees, and bushes was truly amazing. Neville, the groundskeeper, was a tremendous help as we attempted to identify the various plants and animals. His wisdom and care for the native environment on the island is commendable. The only concern we had while at the resort, and it is a fairly major concern for us, was that the New Year's Eve party went into the early morning and it was VERY LOUD!!! By very loud, I mean the base coming from the speakers was so powerful that our room was actually shaking all night (until about 1:30AM.) There is absolutely no way to sleep in those conditions, even with a sound machine running and earplugs. Unfortunately, the reverberating power of the continuous music and baseline all night long caused my wife to have a migraine for the following two days and she was unable to get out of the bed or enjoy the resort at all. That is very disappointing considering the amount of money that was spent to vacation at the resort. I understand that many people go to a resort for the nightlife and energy, but I believe Halcyon could strike a better balance. We were in a room over 200 yards from the speakers. I cannot imagine being in the rooms closer to the party. Several other couples at the resort remarked to us in the days following the celebration that they were also concerned and impacted by the volume of the music. In summary, Halcyon is a pleasant, peaceful, quiet resort for people who are looking for that type of environment for their vacation...or at least it is that way most of the time.
Wonder Experience At Sandals Halcyon

We've been to 5 other Sandals resorts over the past ten years & hubby wanted to visit an island that wasn't flat (LOL), so we chose St Lucia. Definitely a good choice! This was our third Sandals where we had butler service & it definitely did NOT disappoint. For starters, this particular St Lucia resort is the smallest out of the three Sandals resorts, so if you're looking for a place that doesn't require a lot of walking to get to their pools & restaurants, this one is for you. It's also the quietest out of the three, meaning the pools aren't loud & as far as nightlife goes, things wind down fairly early, meaning guests partying late into the night/early morning hours. It does have some cons, in my opinion, which I'm about to explain & of course, this all depends on what your expectations are. The beach is nice, no seaweed BUT as far as lounge chairs go, they definitely needed more at the end closest to the Beach Grill. Their swim up rooms & the main pool's water was a bit on the colder side, which you wouldn't think would be a thing since this is the Caribbean. They don't have but 6 restaurant choices & one of them is their pizza food truck, which has about 7 pizza choices, all are thin crust, which we prefer. Two of the restaurants require reservations, which is standard for any Sandals resort. As far as the food goes, we thought it was great & again, everyone has their own particular palate when it comes to food types/tastes. Every one of the staff was very pleasant, we didn't experience any cranky crabby employees. Bar service at the pools & other areas was efficient. Every restaurant server we had was pleasant & accomodating. Room service was great, but we also had a butler who took care of that for us the few times we used it. The resort has about 5 local cats, all of which are friendly, not a nuisance & three of them were juveniles, which were entertaining. Another con would definitely be the hour & 20 minute drive from Hewanorra Airport IF you take the Sandals shuttle or private car. There is a helicopter option that cuts the travel time down to 20 minutes, but that's not included in your Sandals fees & you have to pay out of pocket. The rooms are nice & clean, maid service was great & our butlers, Pluta, Tyler & Ayjay were FABULOUS! All in all, we had a wonderful week long stay & we'd definitely go back, possibly staying at their Grande location as it's larger with more dining options.
