This resort should not be sold as 4 star. It's a 3 at best. We had booked on the South end because we were told it was the newer part. It was quieter for sure which we liked and the rooms were bigger but the beds had two sheets/pillows were made of rolled up chunks of batten of some kind .Need to ask for a blanket if you needed it there were no bedspreads on them at all. Curtains falling off the rod and bathroom had chunks of tile missing. Tub is high to get in and out of for showering. Always had hot water with good pressure tho. Bottles of water were replenished twice all week. The safe did not work and the key card deactivates if you put it near your phone too long. The key pad fell off one of the doors down from us and also big chunks of the second story balcony fell on the patio two doors down from us.The pools were clean enough but if you have mobility issues of any kind it was difficult to get out of. Rungs missing off of all the ladders. Some missing the bottom rung and some the top rung. Older adults would not get much use of the pools. None of the hottubs were filled nor working. Bar drinks were tastless juice of some sort. Usually guava or papaya that tasted more like thick water. Cola sometimes was just water and coke syrup no fizz at all. Beer was only served at some of the bars. The coffee bar had delicious spanish coffee. The 24 hour snack bar on the south side had rum drinks and no beer and no coffee at all. Burgers, chicken sandwiches and that that was it.They are lacking supplies including glasses take a bubba or reusable mug.The buffet is decent. No cheese on a few days,no butter at all and no cooked vegetables like we are used to. Could be lack of goods.Tons of turkey, rice, fruits, omelets, pancakes etc. Nice variety. The Bar Caleta had a nice lunch of grilled meats and foods. No alcohol on the day we ate lunch there. The beach is beautiful. Looks like a lot of chairs but guests taking 4 chairs for 2 people depending where they wanted to sit in the sun or shade so would throw towels on the 4 chairs so no one else would sit there. Some were broken be aware before you sit. If you are in the least bit immobile,ie stairs, lots of walking. Do yourself a favour and book the North building where there is an elevator. There was a mix of guests, Canadian,Russian,Hungarians'Chinese and big groups of Cuban families/all were fairly courteous as a rule. As per normal standards the employees were terrific. This resort had people actually come and take a drink order and serve you. Fantastic service. Very efficient friendly staff. We aren't likely to return to this resort.
3 stars is generous honestly

Stayed here from Jan 19 - 26, the beaches were amazing tons of seats no need to go early and reserve a seat. The towel guys were out of towels most days for the beach. Most servers didn’t care to serve you a drink unless you tipped for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was the same all week rice, pork, cucumbers, watermelon, mango, pineapple, small buns, cheese slices, and ham slices. Very boring buffet and as for the bar only had beer and rum nothing else. The coffee which Cuba is famous for was well instant coffee on this resort. The front desk seemed like they didn’t want to be bothered ever you’d ask for a internet login or a towel card and they’d go talk to another coworker roll their eyes and get you a code or towel. The hotel is pretty beat up our fridge in our room broke after day 1 . Power went out about 3 times. The hot tub on the south side had no water in it. The snack bar had burgers and chicken sandwiches, burgers with no sauce, no fries just bun meat tomato and lettuce.
