Beautiful resort, with so much pride shown in caretaking, from the gardeners to the cleaners. Wonderful friendly staff at the bars, restaurants and anywhere you meet them. We booked alegance and were glad we spent a little extra. It was worth every penny. We can’t say enough about the helpful concierge. They were kind and patient and made our dinner reservations. The privilege restaurant was a spectacular place for morning takeout coffee at 7 am, and then a little later for delicious custom made omelettes, and the best fries for lunch. Indoor and outdoor dining was always available with the sights and sounds of the ocean right there. We spent time at the beach and time at the pool, where the bartenders were fantastic. We always had cold water, pop and beer in our fridge. We were never thirsty, never hungry and always had a great nights sleep in our perfectly air conditioned suite. Included in alegance is a 20 minute massage. We added another 25 and had the most wonderful 45 minute couples massage. The island is dealing with supply issues, and for all we take for granted in canada, we were thankful for all they did at the resort with what they have to work with. The rooms have a nespresso machine, but were only able to supply tea pods, so we would take ourselves a box of nespresso coffee pods next time. Easy enough. Go with an open mind, relax and appreciate the experience. These people work hard and long for very little. Special thanks to Giselle for the perfect room. We hope to return.

Not a bad place for the money honestly, great if you want adults only. The a la carte was a runaround though, that was disappointing. You have to be in the lobby at 7:30 to even get a chance.
Food wasn’t bad, rooms were nice and clean, resort was pretty clean overall.
This was our 3rd trip to Cuba and 2nd resort, we’d stayed at Sanctuary at Grand memories in Varadero. We prefer it but the prices have skyrocketed. We would definitely come back here again though.
Big shout out to Iria, Tony, Liberto, Marta, Enrique and Lester. They made us feel right at home!
New Year’s Trip
Jan 15, 2023
Spent New Year there with my wife. Overall our experience was not bad however could have been better.
Room: Outdated; the only 110v outlet was not working; light at the terrace wasn’t working too. We complained at the front desk a soon as we arrived and nothing was done, we complained again and same… gave up! NO drinks in the fridge, completely empty since day 1; 1 water bottle was given at a time; there was a coffee maker however no coffee. Lack of towels and were only changed when we left it on the floor; toilet paper was a nightmare, one roll at a time and no extra roll. Reasonably clean.
Food & Drinks: Taking in consideration we were in Cuba and in our opinion I can say food at the buffet was very reasonable however lack of fresh fruit, not even bananas were available. Drinks were a problem, NO mojito, NO piña colada, NO cocktails, cerveza and daiquiri only. Coffee was reasonable however only available until 10PM since lobby bar closed at 11PM and machine needs to be clean before it closes. After 11PM only the bar at the disco was open (some days only), NO 24h snack bar, after buffet closes you can only eat next day when it opens.
Snacks: NEVER got it, NO hamburger, NO hot dogs, only ham & cheese sandwiches and fries.
Beach: Have seen better in Cuba, reasonable I would say. Not enough beach chairs and a high percentage were broken. To get a chair you should go and drop your towel before 8AM otherwise you have to lay down on the sand. Beach bar (outside the beach but close) only cerveza and daiquiri available. Restaurant beside the beach AVOID, terrible.
Workers: I can say I was surprised, have seen much friendly workers in Cuba. Of course there was some exceptions like Marta and Alejandro at the buffet the lady at the lobby bar and the girl who cleaned our room, not forgetting the gentleman that was giving the coconuts on our way to the beach, the others…… of course weren’t unfriendly but have seen more friendly.
Conclusion: NOT a 4.5 starts, needs improvement, workers should have a smile on their faces, 24h snack bar should be available. Had a reasonable experience however next time in Varadero will choose another resort.
I wish if they could be family resort again. So I could have my second home in varadero.

I love this place. I used to travel there with my kids. I wish if they would be a family resort again, I was the for their first new year in 2014 with my 1 year old... last time 2019, may with my 2 boys. I wish if they would not change to adults over pandemics.

I stayed at The Valentin el Patriarca from Dec 9-Dec 23, 2022. As a returning guest I was welcomed by the satff. I booked into the Alegance section. I was upgraded to a suite which was very nice and comfortable. The maidsand the mini bar person were wonderful.
I must also thank Mabel ,reception manager; both concierges, Yadira and Blanca and also the main reception staff. the bell boys also were very helpful. I also want to thank Yula and Tony at the beach bar and Lazaro and Luis the beach attendants.
I found the food much improved from my last visit. They also serve a nice white wine.
All in all I have no complaints. I like the place since it isn't too big and it's easy to get around. also, the beach is very close to the Allegance section( worth every penny).
As a solo traveller, I find the resort staff very friendly. I will be returning at the end of February. I find this is my go to place in Varadero. very welcoming and comfortable, and the beach is fantastic.
