We visited Galley Bay Resort in April and this has to be one of the most beautiful places I have been too. I loved our room on the top floor. This whole resort is beach front and beautiful! Attention has been paid to every detail, especially the food choices. They had an organic farm on site, where they have all kinds of vegetables and fruits growing. This is one place where there was no pizza or pasta on the menu! Chef, Andrew Baxter created amazing menu choices, and catered to every picky eater! We are both vegetarians and we loved and looked forward to every meal. I loved their lemon meringue pie at lunch for dessert. The surroundings are perfect, the restaurants right by the beach - intimate and cottage like. I loved that they had a special studio for Yoga on the beach- we tried restorative and regular yoga - thank you McKenzie! They had a turtle sanctuary as well. The rooms were spacious, the bathrooms were huge! I loved this place because every detail was perfect, you would see that the owner really put his heart to creating this place for people who want to enjoy their holiday, from the rooms, to the settings and especially the food. They had a really nice cafe, attached to a store and mini library, and a tasting bar, again nestled in lots of green tropical space. I hope to go back here some day.. i loved every minute of my stay! There was a beautiful trail for biking or running on the property as well around the lagoon which was nice. Thank you!

    Beyond Expectations for Honeymoon

We found Galley Bay after my husband won a vacation coupon at a golf tournament. Elite Island Resorts was the coupon company and they had a handful of resorts under their umbrella. They were helpful when we called with questions--and recommended Galley Bay for us since it was going to be our honeymoon and we wanted an adults only resort. Once we researched Antigua and Galley Bay, we decided it had everything we were looking for for our honeymoon. It ended up checking all the boxes, and THEN some. It was way better than any other all-inclusive resorts we've stayed at. Some of the reasons being: -Room right on the beach (even had our own lounge chairs under a tiki umbrella) -A/C to keep us cool for sleeping (hotel room was cool and comfortable) -Delicious Food, every meal being a sit down (NOT buffet) -Strong drinks (even the mixed drinks and frozen drinks!) -Fast, pleasant, attentive service (we felt like all the staff were our friends, we loved chatting with them and they also seemed happy that we were there! Both Sandy's, Peter, Iba!) -Nice spa for a couples massage (they even had happy hour prices!) -Live music/night scene (awesome bands on property every night in an open air setting, teepee bar was like our 'cheers', and there was the Rum Shack too!) -Pool area had call buttons for drink deliveries -Excursions were super easy to coordinate with Iba -Beautiful landscaping and nicely kept grounds -Boutique feeling resort versus the typical all-inclusive There were a handful of people that were repeat guests and told us they had been coming to Galley Bay for years. We're so happy to have stumbled upon this place! I don't typically travel back to the same place twice, but I will absolutely come back to this resort and be part of the Galley Bay family for years to come.

First visit to Galley Bay for us although many other visitors were repeat guests and you can understand this once you’ve been. The location right on the beach overlooking the Caribbean made this resort for us. We had a ground floor premier beachfront apartment which was ideal for us. The place is large so you always had a choice of sun loungers whether on the beach or at the pool. Food and drinks service was in keeping with the all inclusive vibe. Live nightly entertainment was better than we were expecting as other reviews had said that the resort was not that lively but it got everyone together at the Seagrape bar after dinner. Most people like us were celebrating something like anniversary or on honeymoon etc so this created a good atmosphere amongst guests. Would return and so would recommend to family and friends.

This is only one, pass or fail, multiple choice question: GALLEY BAY RESORT & SPA ARE FOR THOSE WHO A. Want a loud, fast paced city life type of entertainment B. Need a huge 75’ flat screen in your room to binge watch your latest addiction C. Experience the most incredible staff, amazing food, insane views, and a calm vibe D. Need to be “connected” to your social media 24/7 or have the ability to work If you answered C, then you passed and can continue to read my review. The staff...the staff...THE STAFF! For me, the staff defined what Galley Bay is all about. Yes, I will comment on all the other observations I feel I can pass on, but in my opinion, I was blown away how friendly and accommodating every staff member was. And I mean each and every one of them! Much of the staff rotated positions frequently, so we became familiar with a lot of them. Quite quickly, everyone started to know our names. It caught me off guard sometimes as my wife and I were walking around, we would get a big shout out; “Hello Jenny Craig!” (We quickly became known as the couple Jenny Craig simply from having the same names as the famous weight watchers company...lol). But what also blew me away was that nearly every time when we were walking to one particular restaurant, we had to pass some villas that were being renovated in preparation for the upcoming high season, and even the painters or carpenters would stop their work to say hi! Everyone was always asking if everything was okay and I felt a sincere desire they meant it. I could go on and on, but some of the staff who we loved were... Amanda, Denval, Tina, Natasha, Ernestine, Joan, Elaine, Niki, Peter, Linroy, Tammy, Iba. I’m sure there are others that I forgot but again, what a crew! Management’s commitment From attending the returning guests dinner, to observing the managers interaction with their staff, I feel that they have created a very good model that harvests a high morale among the employees. I believe Cedric, Alex, Andrew, and John all have a great management style that backs up my above statement. Everyone is committed to making sure the guests are taken care of…I truly can see that in their actions! Off-property Activities If you are looking for a little extra adventure, find Iba (if he hasn’t found you first…lol). He’s unreal when it comes to helping you find the right fit for what you are looking for. He helped us book a private sunset sailing outing. We were not disappointed! Resort Itself The property is well laid out. From the moment you arrive, you are dropped off at the front desk breezeway. The staff was awesome in collecting your luggage and promptly waiting until the check in was complete. During that process we were offered a refreshing local rum drink. It was a perfect touch right at that moment after all our travels. Once checked in, one of the staff members drives you on a little golf cart (with your luggage as well), and driven down a little pathway that cuts though a beautiful lagoon. After passing the lagoon, you are in the middle of the property where you will find the main bar, Seagrape Restaurant, Barefoot Grill, pool, Activity Center, spa, Rum Shack, gift shop and more. From there the villas are on both sides of the main area. All villas parallel the beach and not one has a bad view. We were astonished that we NEVER had to fight for a lounge chair at the beach. And speaking of the beach, at no point during the week, did I count more than 10 people in the ocean at once! It really gave us the feeling that we were on a deserted island! Lol. At each end of the property are two more restaurants; Gaugin and Ismays (Ismays their fine dining restaurant for an extra charge). Social/Night Life We met so many fun and interesting people during our stay. Since the resort naturally promotes a laid back, fun and chill environment, everyone there adopted the same vibe…therefore it was incredibly easy to make friends and have a great time telling stories and getting to know one another. We had even met two couples that live near us where we got to know them so well that we exchanged contact info and plan on meeting each other soon. So when it came to the nightly live bands, everyone seemed to gravitate to that area and continue to have a great time until the bank played their last song. There was no shortage of having fun! Water Sports/Yoga The resort has a very good Activity Center that has tons of Stand Up Paddle Boards, Kayaks, and Hobie Cats. I took full advantage of their Hobie Cats because I wanted to learn to sail. Linroy just happened to be working during the time I wanted to sail. He took me out a couple of times and was an amazing instructor!!!! Also, the resort offers Yoga several times throughout the week. Little touches that count We were there for our anniversary and also tied it in for my wife’s birthday. We were not only surprised to get a nice bottle of champagne in our room when we came back from lunch, but were also surprised about something else. We had made the comment about my wife’s birthday to one of the managers, John. Well, the very next day, there was a nice bouquet of flowers and a letter from John and management wishing her a happy birthday! And it’s not only champagne and flowers where we noticed nice touches…we were also totally impressed when the staff got to know things like what we liked to drink, eat and even were always asking how the sailing was! WE ARE COMING BACK!! I don’t know how else to explain it, but THERE IS A REASON why so many people choose to come back year after year to Galley Bay. Think about it, there are hundreds of high end resorts all over the Caribbean, Indies, and Lesser Antilles. But when you meet couples that are there for their 10th time or more, you can easily see why! I mean, several of the staff members gave us huge hugs when we were making our way to catch our ride back to the airport! There is no question that we will be one of those repeat clients…period!!!
