I first stayed at Posada Real back in 2002 or 2003, before it was an all inclusive. At that time, it had a "normal" (that is, not based on All Inclusive) restaurant. It was quiet, a bit quaint, nicely situated on the beach, with friendly staff. Then it became an all inclusive. This was my second stay since a non-all-inclusive option became available. The rooms and location are much the same. Nice beach. Easy access to the main part of town. Rooms decent size, adequate outlets, lighting. Nice balcony. Note that not all rooms have refrigerators, and you can not determine this (or I was not able to) when booking the room I would not eat at the restaurant. I ate there one night. The two groups of people within hearing distance were all-inclusive clients, and they were distinctly disappointed with the food. My steak arrachera was dull in flavor and unaccompanied by anything other than a few desultory tortillas. The staff at the front desk did their jobs, but without any friendliness or warmth. Simple requests (such as asking for Wi-Fi password) were often met with a bit of a sigh. And the place was simply noisy.

The location is wonderful. Right on a lovely beach. The city bus stops at the top of the drive providing an easy, quick ride to historic downtown San Jose and the arts district. This is an older, very small resort, so don't expect bells and whistles. It's basic. The rooms are adequate but kept very clean. They do need a real updating. The resort's strongest plus is a friendly, gracious and helpful staff. Because it is smaller, this is a very quiet, restful place to enjoy the beach.. . All the guests seemed really happy and friendly. I would strongly suggest to go all inclusive.

This was my wife and I's second stay at this awesome little resort. This time we invited another couple to go with us. These guy's know service. If you are wanting the Ritz Carleton then by all means stay at the Ritz, but if you are wanting a smaller more intimate, very clean and customer friendly resort this is the place. They are located right on the beach and within walking distance of a myriad of markets, restaurants and shops. It is an older resort but these guy's keep this place immaculate and the attention to service is top shelf. I definitely would like to thank Urbano, Benito, Ismael, Misiel, Alex, Armin and all the ladies at the front desk. We were very well taken care of as were our friends. I may have missed a few of the staff, but you are truly missed and were all outstanding. You made us feel totally like family. We are already talking about booking again for next year. Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing each of you again!!!

As others have mentioned this is an older resort but it has been maintained very well. Rooms are clean and comfortable, pool area very nice, right on the beach though no swimming due to RIP tides but nice to just walk along the surf and get your feet wet! Buffet is fairly simple but the food is excellent and the staff are incredibly friendly and eager to please. Absolutely recommend this place!

Stayed for 2 nights - all inclusive. The room smelt of Jeyes bleach cleaner when you walked in. But at least the room is clean. Balcony to the garden. But for the 2 days had workmen on ladders right outside hammering away. The food is buffet. It’s good but not great. The wine is ok. Walking distance to town. Pool and beach good. Limited hot water for shower. It’s a good place to stay for a couple of nights but no more. Had a Pontins feel about it. Would not put in luxury category.
