Great Vacation :)

Lynsey L on Apr 27, 2024

Travelled to this lovely resort with our family (8 people total) and the experience was great. The resort is very clean and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The main pool and kids area are great for smaller children. Love that it has a gradual slope to walk into the big pool for the kiddos as well as the lounge area along the side of pool. Fresh fish Tacos down by the ocean for lunch are amazing. There is a hidden pizza place in the lower area from 4:30-10 at the disco ( best pizza oh my gosh, went a few nights when the buffets and other places busy and had no issues getting pizza right away and eating!) The kids star camp they have is wonderful and the workers are amazing with your children!! We had a couple hiccups with AC but the resort crews were great on getting it fixed ASAP. The Only thing I was disappointed about was the nightly shows for kids. Didn’t have much and if they did it was at 9:30pm and pretty late for the kids after a long day at the pool. Over all great trip and resort. We will be back for sure :)

Great Food, and Better Staff

Aiden S on Apr 24, 2024

We visited the Iberostar 12-20 April of this year, and we had such an amazing time on the property. Our room was new and extremely clean, as well as a very comfortable temperature. We had paid to upgrade to the ocean front room though, which I highly recommend if you are going as we felt it was actually a very good use of our money, as we had a hammock that we could sit on and watch the ocean or read. Our bathroom was spotless, and the showers were great, I’m a tall guy so I frequently have issues in hotel showers with having to duck into the water, not the case here. The food at the resort was the best I’ve had at any all inclusive. The steakhouse had ribeye on the menu, and cooked the steaks to order, and cooked them well. The Japanese restaurant was phenomenal, the food all cooked properly, and the teppanyaki chefs put on a good show. The Mexican restaurant was really good, and I quite enjoyed both meals I ate there. I did have to ask to get some spicy salsa for my tacos, but that was no issue at all. The Pacific Express has a phenomenal steak, as well as a really good burger on their menu. The appetizers are also really good, and our waiter was very attentive. The breakfast buffet was what you would expect from a resort breakfast buffet, with many options, an omelette station, and options for kids. There were many options, and they weren’t running low on anything while we were in there. The food was good at breakfast, but not mind blowing, which was fine. There was also room service with a limited menu, but free of charge, which came usually within 30 mins of ordering. The cafe on the property also had really good snacks, and the latte’s and iced coffees there were quite good. The property itself is not massive, but there are plenty of activities to keep you busy during the day, and they have a hike on Wednesday’s that I highly recommend. The alcohol selection at the resort is great for those who drink, as they carry many different quality brands of hard liquor, and you will have plenty of options when it comes to stuff like whiskey, vodka, rum etc… The staff at both the lobby bar and the sunset bar were outstanding, and did a good job keeping up with demand when it got busy. The theatre shows were also pretty good at night, and there was also a nightclub, both of which had great bar staff working their respective bars. The gym was a bit small, so if you are planning on working out, I found going early around 7 was the best time before it got too busy in there. Overall, our experience was excellent, and we will be returning in the future. Like I said earlier in the review, the staff were absolutely phenomenal, but I’d like to give a bit of a shoutout to the ones that made our trip memorable, Javier from the concierge team was amazing from the second we arrived on the property, and always eager to help us plan things we wanted to do while there, Esteban from the entertainment team was absolutely amazing, his work ethic and constant smile and positivity blew me away, and Jesus from the sunset bar who was very friendly and attentive with us, and even helped us with our Spanish once he found out we were learning! If you are in the fence about visiting this resort, I’d recommend you just book it, you won’t be disappointed.

Favorite Resort in Mexico

CRNC_7 (Edmonton, Canada) on Apr 23, 2024

The first time my husband and I stayed at Iberostar Play Mita was after it had been opened just a year. I always say I will write a review and then forget. We have travelled throughout Mexico for the last 15 years but always drifted back to Iberostar Playa Mita. Why, most ask, because it feels like coming home. The friendly faces that welcome us... Jenny, Mildred, Candy, Emmanuel, and Hugo to our first waitress ever, Fabiola. But there are so many significant people that make our stays memorable and it's difficult to mention them all but over the years a few continually stick out. Fabiola as mentioned previously works the Breakfast buffet as well as the pool bar. Karen, works at the Beach Bar and also Star Cafe.. Miguel from the Star Cafe makes the best coffee.. And also Elvia and Tania can be found there as well. Marko and Fabian from the entertainment crew are so amazing and fun to be around. Salsa lessons from Marko are a must! Bar tender Jesus, also known as the Doctor, has an ability to mix up a cocktail, (non alcoholic) to help upset stomachs or even hiccups that actually work .. you can find him on Rooftop Sunset Bar. Hector has also been there from the beginning and can be found at the Lounge, whipping up amazing refreshments. And can't forget to mention Jose at the Pool Bar and Adrian, though Adrian is now in charge of the Bars.. Both amazing people that truly love heir jobs. And a newer addition, Edison has some pretty fancy drinks in his repertoire. Waiters at the al a carte restauranters are too many to mention but a couple of favorites are Eric and Ivan. A number of the Captains have come and gone but a new addition, Zury, has won our hearts, especially my husbands because they both love hockey! The food has changed throughout the years, before Covid it was amazing, then if sorta fell to a lesser standard until they brought in a new head chef Cristian Napoles. He listens and has helped improve the food again. We have also had the pleasure of having him cook for us privately. One time was for a wine and food pairing we did and all the food represented the area we were in. He is one talented Chef. The food is good and the standard has risen again and even for the picky there is something to chose from. The rooms are somewhat dated but always very clean. We have stayed in every type of room but our favorite is Ocean Front or Ocean View suite.. The beach is walkable and the ocean can have some pretty fun waves to play in. I'm more a pool person .. the pools are not heated but that is because of the sustainable ways of the Hotel Chain, once you get in and past the chill you will survive. The grounds are always immaculate. Like any resort there are always some issues but if looked after by speaking to the correct person they can be easily rectified. After over 10 trips to this resort I find it difficult to go anywhere else. And we have tried. This is our most favorite resort in Mexico and it has the BEST sunsets ever that you can see from the roof top bar where you can also whale watch at the right time of year.

Good resort, amazing beach.

My husband and I came with our 3 teens at the beginning of April. Overall we had a good time here and there were many things we liked: keyless room entry attached to the wrist band, filtered water to refill bottles on each floor, absolutely beautiful long beach, teens loved the pool and the temperature, big waves for boogie boarding and sandy bottom, sunset patio and bar, good location of amenities on the resort, rifle shooting and archery, clean bathrooms, availability of food thru the day, mariachi band in the evening x2, great pool/entertainment staff, easy to get everywhere on resort, tennis, the open air lobby, and soft serve ice cream at the bar by the pool. Unfortunately about 5 days into our trip my son and I both got quite sick (gastrointestinal stuff) and this really impacted 3-4 days out of our 9 day trip. This is the first time this has happened to us in the 5-6 times we’ve been to all inclusives in Mexico. A few overall suggestions I have would be: to have hand sanitizer stations at all of the buffets and snack places ( there was none anywhere except near the bathroom of the main buffet). I always had my own but given the number of people handling serving spoons etc., it’s just good basic hygiene practice that should be available and encouraged for all. Servers around the pool and in buffets seemed short all the time, evening entertainment wasn’t great but we aren’t really into that anyway. The meal in the ‘train restaurant’ was not good. Would have liked the beach volleyball net to be left up all the time rather than just an hour a day. We’re giving this resort a 4 out of 5 but don’t think we’d return.

Fun stay in Puerto Vallarta

Ruben Z on Apr 07, 2024

Visited this resort last week with family (wife & 2 kids). Overall, I would say this was the best resort I've been to so far. I don't even have any real complains just some small annoyances. I'll start with the pros: 1. Food was great. Lots of options and everything looked nice and fresh. Previously I never had salads in Mexico because they always looked dated. Here all the salads were fresh looking and delicious. 2. Alcohol was great. At some other places I've been to I've often see them mix drinks from unlabeled bottles and you couldn't even tell what you were getting. Here all drinks came from actual alcohol bottles, so the drinks were proper. 3. Beach was nice, wide and private. Not many hagglers on the beach as I think it's pretty hard for them to get there. 4. Lots of pool activities. 5. Kids club was fun for my 9-year-old and there were lots of activities for her. My son who is six years old didn't like his group that much but that's just because he mostly wanted to be with us. 7. Last but not least, Wi-Fi speed was absolutely FANTASTIC. I never had a dead spot anywhere. I could literally go on the beach and stream a 1080p soccer match. I've never before had good internet in any resort, especially in Mexico. This place had it done right. Cons: 1. Shower cabin had no door so after one person would take a shower pretty much the entire bathroom would be wet. This wasn't just our complaint as everyone we met at the resort told us the same thing. Not super bad just annoying. Seems like this could be easily fixed by installing shower curtains. 2. Pool water was cold. I think this was the coldest pool I've ever been to in Mexico. Ocean water was warmer. This was probably the most annoying thing. That's pretty much all the cons I could think of. Another funny thing, not a con but something to know. If you reserve dinner at the Japanese restaurant and then decide not to show up at the last minute, they will charge you a fine. Kind of hilarious to be charged a fine at an all-inclusive hotel where food is free. We were about to skip on our reservation until we read the fine print, so we went ahead anyway and glad we did since it was a great experience.
