I recently stayed for 4 nights in mid-January. Though this hotel is smaller and may not have as many bells and whistles as some of the big resorts around it, the location and cost made this the perfect choice for me. The beach is literally steps away across the street and it's smack dab between the zoo/park/Diamond Head and high-end shopping and dining around the Royal Hawaiiian, Hilton, and Westin resorts. There was construction going on at a hotel next door, but who goes to Hawaii to hang out in a hotel room? It was very easy to get Ubers, and catch tours at the Hyatt Regency next door. There is a popular restaurant at the ground level - Eggs N Things that offers takeout if you prefer to grab and go. I didn't need much attention, but the front desk was always staffed if guests needed towels or help. In addition to lower prices, the resort fee was half of that charged by the surrounding resorts and included WiFi and DVD rentals. For less than what I would have paid for a base room at another nearby resort, I was able to get an oceanfront room with great view. Very satisfied customer!

This hotel deserves 5 stars for the locaton and staff but that's not what 5 stars represents. I would absolutely choose this hotel again, but if you are one who wants polished marble floors, butlers, free breakfast and room service, don't stay here. If you want an excellent location and a room that might show wear and tear (what looked like drywall along my window was broken from floor to ceiling) this place is for you. What you need to know: front desk and check-in is outside...a window facing the parking lot. The resort fee is charged at checkout and covers wifi, beach towels, beach inflatables and boogie boards. They charge for parking (everywhere in Waikiki does) and the lot is below the hotel and tiny. If it's full and they can't accommodate your car, they give options of parking somewhere else. I had an oceanfront room on the 9th floor. Glorious view. The rooms all seem to have balconies, although having a bite to eat on your balcony is not advised. You will be attacked by birds who are not afraid of humans. They don't care about your coffee or cocktails though :) NOISE...being oceanfront also means facing the main street. It's noisy. If you need a quiet place to fall asleep, this is not it. The old window style-air conditioner kind of masks the noise on the street, but it's loud and goes on and off at random times. Just as the white noise lulls you to sleep, it shuts down and you hear horns honking or people being people on the street below. Hotel noise: The hotel is circular, so the hallways are circular and there is no carpet. When someone closes the dooor to their room, it slams and echoes. Rooms are not sound proof. Final notes: This hotel is sandwiched between an ABC Store (the best convenience store in Hawaii) and McDonald's. A breakfast restaurant that serves all day is on the property. Starbucks is 2 blocks away. The room had a mini fridge that was actually cold. Keurig coffee maker to get your day going. In Hawaii, I want a view of the ocean from my room and a clean place to shower and rest my head after playing in the sun all day. This hotel fits the bill.

Dont stay here they advertise parking first come first serve because they only have 20 spots you have to walk 7 blocks to park at the Ashton sunset they have no rooms with king beds on 2 standard their employees are sub par as far as we're concerned they parking lot attendant tried to charge us $71.00 for overnight I had to get desk clerk to fix it there are no managers to talk to and parking attendants manager refused to come over and when I called they wouldn't answer then just picked up and hung up before I said anything stay away from this dump well never stay in an Ashton property again this was our honeymoon the rooms are shabby to say the least

Enjoyed the location - family of 6

This was the first stop of a family trip to the West coast of the US. We have a family of 6 - Mum, Dad, 16, 14, 11 and 8. Due to room sizes and restrictions, we booked two rooms billed as family rooms - 2 adults, 2 children. As the photos show, both rooms had only double beds - no singles or fold outs. Mum and daughters (16, 11) shared one room, Dad and sons (14, 8) shared the other. Due to the ages of our kids, this worked okay for us. Room had a fridge and coffee machine, as well as a PS3 connected to the television to act as a DVD player. We had rooms on the left side, 3rd floor where construction work was underway on a neighbouring building. Not the fault of the hotel - we weren’t really disturbed by any noise and we just closed the curtains from the workmen. Additionally, we didn’t really have a lot of traffic noise around our side of the building nor were there any noises from the hallway. Very central in Waikiki, walked to all locations, including Honolulu (a full day out walking) and around Diamond Head (Another full day out walking). The MacDonalds at the base of the hotel was good for breakfasts and quick meals. We didn’t go to the other breakfast store on the other side. Would suggest getting groceries from the Food Pantry about 10 minutes walk away, the ABC stores were a little more expensive. All in all we felt very secure at the hotel, the keycard system controlled access to the lifts as well as the rooms which was a good feature. The hotel itself felt a little dated and the rooms were fairly compact - the bathroom also was a tight fit for two people, but it was certainly adequate for our needs to have a base from which to explore the surrounds. We had some problems with the PS3, but a trip down to the reception booth and they were very happy to assist by sending someone up to help out. We found the staff to be helpful and obliging throughout our stay.

I can't rave enough about this hotel after staying here. Our Uber driver wasn't familiar with the hotel and mapping to it showed a different name so there was some confusion if we were at the right place. We knew enough to look for a circular building. The front desk staff- HELPFUL and SOOO Nice. They were able to accommodate us for an early check in and managed to get us 2 rooms side by side. The rooms are arrayed in a circle on each floor and thus each room is almost like a slice of pie. They were decorated in bright colors and kept very clean. As a result of the shape of the room- there are some idiosyncrasies that must be managed. The room is small but used every square inch available. Bathroom was small. But this is Hawaii - you shouldn't pay high prices for a room that you should only sleep in is my thought. Where this hotel shines is it's fabulous location and proximity to Waikiki beach- literally- walk across the street. You can't get any better than that at the rate we snagged for our room. Without a doubt we would consider staying there again.
