Great trip with family

Shanti W (newyork) on Apr 27, 2024

After getting your luggage you will then walk thru the airport and look for your ride to the hotel. It will be a 30 min trip to the resort. When I 1st arrived around 1:30. I met with Demika who was very pleasant. She told me my room was ready. I was located on the 5th floor with a view of the harbor. That room did not suite me, so she moved me to the 7th fl. This room still had a French balcony but you're not in your room that much. The hotel lobby and hallways are freezing. The room was clean, the bathroom had a little wear n tear in the tub. We found that the fridge was not working, and my door didn't lock. The next day someone came to fix the lock. The repair guy came up to look at the fridge and said it wasn't plugged in. He plugged it in, and later that night around 1am, we heard this loud humming noise. I'm thinking whoever was in the room before me, unplugged it so that they might have a better sleep and that's what I did as well. After switching into resort attire, we headed out to the pool. There are no signs directing you where to get towels. When we finally found the place (located near the Mayan slide), they were out of towels. We found some lounge chairs to sit on, until clean towels arrived 30 min later. You have to wear a wristband in order to get towels, and that they know you're a guest. What I don't understand is why the people coming to the resort off of the cruise ships (this was a daily thing) did not have different color bands. Also, they took up most of the towel usage in my opinion. Everything is expensive. This resort is a cashless resort. The drinks were very sugary. I stuck with margaritas. and beer. Bring a reusable cup to refill for water, or by a case of water. I purchased 3 tall waters, and it came to 32.00.I was not impressed with the food. Shake shack was great. We also ate at Margaritaville across from the resort. The resort is very big, so wear comfortable shoes. The beach was beautiful, but we couldn't swim in it because the lifeguards had flags up. They do have a lagoon type beach. I also didn't like that you couldn't use the cove or reef pool, but they could come to the royal pool. That makes no sense. We took a taxi one day into town. The 1st guy said he would charge me 20.00. I then got out and spoke with a woman who then spoke with him and he charged me 16. He then went on a rant, that no one will bring me back for under 20.00. Thats not true. One guy charged me 17 coming back, but he was very nice so I gave him 20.00. Just like any place you go as a tourist, be aware of your surroundings. Check the prices in each store, because you will find things are priced differently. The royal needs to have an adult only pool. Kids were throwing footballs and other toys to one another. The people who work at the hotel seemed nice enough. Some of the guest at the hotel were slobs. Leaving cups, beer cans, wet towels by the pool. Throw your stuff out and return your towels to the towel return bins. The rapid lazy river was pretty cool, as well as the slide.

Fantastic resort

Rommel J (London, United Kingdom) on Apr 27, 2024

Family loved the stay. The marine life & rides in the park are fantastic. Only downside is the lack of decent food options - quality is poor, lack of choice, everything overpriced
