First time visit to sandals Barbados, went away with 8 couples which we do every year the staff were great rooms nice and clean food was above average with good options and pools clean and fun , the beach and water were beautiful. A few negative’s , they struggled two handle 16 for dinners even though we made reservations which stated at the time of reservation splitting us up 8 and 8 is fine (so if traveling with bigger groups this could be a little problem) they did tell us that there restaurants are not geared for bigger dining groups but some of the restaurants handled better then others , the beach when you cross half way to the water (there is a sign posted that states leaving resort) there are what i belive to be locals that may be up to no good saw two fighting but in genral we had no issues and resort has security that walks around the beach area , the last thing i would say we arrived at airport on a saturday and it took us 1 hour to get through customs it was backed up i will say our plane was one hour late so incoming flights could have been backed up , but we enjoyed and would definitely go back for sure , the staff in american tavern are all 5 stars and would accommodate any wish !! Also dayna handled our group events and did a good job accommodating us

Beautiful property, just missing the excellence

This was our first time at a Sandals property, we have previously stayed in Excellence resorts or boutique hotels in the Caribbean. Our journey got off to a very bad start, our pre-booked seats were reallocated, the plane delayed and the flight changed from direct flight to a stopover in Antigua, so by the time we arrived at Sandals around 7:15pm and after 12 hours on a plane, we were extremely tired and ready for relaxation and luxury. Sadly that’s not what we got. We were ushered into the club lounge, along with 3 American couples, who, despite the fact that we had already checked in on line so were complete within minutes, were prioritised ahead of us and we were left sitting in the lounge for around 40 minutes. Delightfully, we had the choice of American football or (very graphic) “Botched boob jobs” to watch on the large TVs in the lounge. Another English couple arrived about 30 mins later and insisted the TV channel was changed (I wish I’d had the energy to complain). We were shown to our room, which was in the South seas area, in front of the tennis court. Beautiful accommodation and very quiet. We were told the only restaurants we could use for walk ins would stop serving at 9pm, so we asked if our luggage would arrive promptly, 3 phone calls later and with 5 minutes till the restaurants closed our suitcases arrived. Fortunately it wasn’t too far to the American Tavern and we just made it. The best advice we had been given before we arrived was to book the restaurants on the first day, so we had that done by 8:15 the first morning, thank goodness we did as we only just managed to get reservations in our choice of restaurants. The second best piece of advice was that if you haven’t got a butler, then you need to be up very early to get a sun lounger. It became quite a joke with us, as every morning we were involved in the sunrise dash to get a sun lounger, we even failed at the South Seas pool on one occasion when we didn’t get there till 7:45 am. We did get beds at the main pool that day but by 2pm, had to relocate as we just couldn’t cope with the noise any longer (there were some VERY rowdy / drunk guests) Check out was a very similar experience to check in, despite the potential option to keep your room if you have a late flight, they can’t tell you if there’s availability until an hour before your suitcases have to be outside your room and you get passed from desk to desk to try & sort this out or book the Departure lounge. We were also advised that we could keep our personal belongings with us (ie travel clothes, toiletries, passports and travel documents) by the pool all day !!! We ended up leaving our bags in the club lounge office. We never heard of anyone who was able to keep their room while we were there. I have to be balanced with my feedback as there were some real positives about our stay at Sandals. As has been said many times, the accommodation and grounds are immaculate and very beautiful and the domestic and ground staff were hard working and very polite and friendly. We had nothing but excellent service in all the bars and restaurants and the food was very good. Breakfasts were fantastic in both Parisienne and the Tavern and we only had to queue on a couple of occasions. By far, our favourite restaurant was Bombay, the staff were wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious. Our biggest positives were the yoga and stretch classes, we attended every class they ran while we were there and whether it was sunrise yoga at the sky pool pavilion or stretching before breakfast in the yoga pavilion, we absolutely loved the classes and their very professional tutors. We also booked a private tour of the island, including a trip on the St Nicholas abbey heritage railway, sugar plantation & rum distillery. We found the guide (Sanjay) via the Sandals Facebook page and can thoroughly recommend him, we had the most amazing day out. I can understand why Sandals has such a great reputation and gets so many repeat customers but for us, it just lacked the finesse and efficiency at the start and finish of our holiday and the daily game of “hunt the sun lounger” was just exhausting. I’m afraid we would choose Excellence over Sandals next time.

Superb accommodation with such comfortable beds. Super clean room with everything working perfectly. Spacious balconies with shade draperies. Tons of closet and drawer space. Lush tropical gardens everywhere with many pools. An oh so relaxing vibe that you sense immediately upon arriving. And THE BEST is the staff! All have been so professional, efficient, patient and kind. Everyone we’ve met has been super wonderful. Splurge on Butler Service! Toria and LaToyna have been so warm and caring, we feel like we have ‘come home’. We feel like family here. This is the first time we’ve experienced Butler Service and it is so worth it. There is no pressure, only kindness. After many visits to the Islands we have found our very special place and will most definitely return soon. Cheers

Our trip started out with excitement and curiosity. We had never been to a Sandals resort or to Barbados. We were excited for the adventure and curious if Barbados/Sandals would be everything we hopped it would be. We can tell you Sandals/Barbados will exceed your vacation desires. We were there to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. After the trip I could not think of a better place to celebrate our 10 year milestone. We stayed in a rondoval suite. The views, the benefits, and the peace of having your own house was awesome! To be honest you really didn't need to leave your house to have a wonderful get away. With your own space, your own places to layout, and your own pool. What more could you ask for? If you did desire more than your house offered. The many restaurants (all were great), pools, game areas and of course the beach were just a few steps away! With the rondoval suite you get butler service. Our butlers Archiebald, Abigail, and Crystal were the best in the world! They were always there when you called. Always went over and above to make sure our stay was perfect! They never disappointed the entire time we were there. You can have a great time in Barbados, however if you want to have the perfect unforgettable vacation. Request Archiebald, Abigail, and Crystal as your butlers. They truly are the best!!! If you are looking for a wonderful vacation. We would suggest Sandals Royal Barbados with the Rondoval Suite. If you want a perfect vacation request Archiebald, Abigail, and Crystal. You will not regret it!!!

Second visit is as wonderful as the first!

This is our second year in a year to visit this beautiful property. As we have vacationed at numerous Sandals, this one is rated amongst our favorites. A well manicured property and often heard and saw song and hummingbirds enjoying the nectar from the beautiful flowers. We enjoyed a couple excursions last year --catamaran and jeep tour, and this year opted to remain on property and enjoy what was offered there. We loved the bowling alley as it can give us a break from the sun. One of the advantages to this property it is located next to Sandals Barbados. Guests can enjoy the restaurants, pools, beaches, and entertainment from both properties. Newly added to the property is a donut shop. Really is a fun place to visit, especially for an evening snack. The restaurants are of 5 star quality. The presentations of the meals are like pieces of artwork, and loved the exposure to various ethnic foods. The butler services were the best we have ever experienced. Shamiya, Joshua, Ackchil were fantastic in making our vacation exceptional! The beach, sun, scenery, food, renewing and making new friendships with the lovely Barbados people was one of the best Sandals experiences we have had!
