Dirty

We booked a year ago and are Marriott members. Stay with Marriott regularly for business. This is the worst Marriott/hotel I have stayed at. First the room was sold as a great room with a view of the luau. When we got to the room it was a great view of the 1st floor rooftop. Then the toilet had a big brown diarrhea stain down the side. So I went downstairs, waited in line, to have them tell us there was no other room and would send someone to clean it. As I am writing this it’s been over an hour with no housekeeping in sight. So I decide to check out the rest is the room….makeup stains on the pillows and stains on the blanket. My husband then went downstairs again to complain and they are suppose to come immediately to change the sheets and clean but still no one has come. Frequent travelers and have never seen anything like this. Oh and to top it off, the pool is closed for renovation so no pool and a lot of construction noise. It’s actually highly unbelievable.

Location, location, location

The hotel was very nice and updated. The location made it easy to walk to many attractions. The onsite beach made it very convenient, with plenty of access available. An ABC store was onsite, as well as other shops. There was a luau located at the hotel that was well worth the extra money. The only downside was that the pool was under renovation and the food opportunities were very unorganized as to availability and hours.

one day stay

Definitely an older hotel but still pretty decent. All the reviews I have read (good and bad) have been pretty much spot on with the pros and cons of the resort. We are Marriott Bonvoy members so our experience may be a little different. Room is definitely small and not as well maintained as it should be. The closet doors appear to have not been cleaned in a while. The furniture is dated and chipped. Bathroom is very small. the location is great for site seeing and the small beach that is close to it. The beach does get very crowded especially when the cruise ship is docked. But cleared out once they left. The pool and hot tub are out of commission. However, all the staff I have encountered have been nice.

Great location but a bit disappointing.

LAMMER13 (Rochester Hills, Michigan) on Apr 22, 2024

As a loyal Marriott customer, I expected better from this venue. The pool is under repair and nothing was mentioned when I booked directly with Marriott. We had the option to use the pool at the hotel across the street but not nearly as nice as ocean front. Also, the beachfront bar does not serve any blended drinks like pina coladas and such. The lunch options at the beachfront had only 3 options, none of which were vegetarian. The beach is nice but it is public. Super crowded when the cruise ships come in. This is where the “guests only” pool would have been great. Our 1st room had no air-conditioning. The next room had difficulty with the refrigerator until the 2nd day. It was not all bad ….The room was clean and beds super comfortable. Love the waterproof key bands and we were able to get late check out. The staff at reception and concierge were fantastic. The location is great too. We would return but probably select one of the other Marriott resorts in Kona. In fairness, they did reverse the resort fees as the pool was not operational.

Good if you want to be near stuff

andytoshiro (Los Angeles, California) on Apr 14, 2024

Had 2 rooms here for couple nights. it is not a 4-5 star on a nice beach but the hotel has good location if you need to stay in near the town, coffee shops, etc. Store is connected to hotel so it is very convenient. Pool and outlets were shut down but hotel provided those accommodations at neighboring establishments (used pool at Pacific 19 across the street) Parking situation is nice and easy. Check in was great, got into my 2 rooms a little early and they were near to each other. Hihona at the front desk was awesome.
