Great location, modest hotel

peeperdoodles (Sydney, Australia) on Jan 15, 2026

Excellent location right in the middle of Waikiki Beach. Beautiful lobby. Rooms very basic and not well provisioned (no shower cap, no sanitary bag, nothing in the mini bar). Elevators were a disaster - had to wait a long time on most occasions.

Lovely hotel - was there for a conference and had a great experience

Went for a conference and it was lovely. I started by staying at a 3 star hotel down the road, and quickly determined that it would be better to stay at my conference hotel - and it was a night and day difference. The room was large and had a beautiful view of Diamond Head and the ocean - delightful.

Beautiful Location, Beautiful Experience

Bonny G on Jan 14, 2026

We had the most wonderful holiday, and staying at this resort truly made it exceptional. From the moment we arrived, everything about the experience felt special. The location is unbeatable, the views are absolutely stunning, and the overall atmosphere is simply beautiful. It is without a doubt worth the stay. Of course, there were a few little things here and there — but honestly, we were there over New Year’s Eve, so a bit of noise was completely expected and didn’t take away from the experience at all. I especially want to mention Riza from room service. She was genuinely lovely, so kind and attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. She truly deserves recognition for the wonderful care she gave us. If anyone finds something to complain about at this property, I believe that says far more about them than about this resort. Our stay was outstanding, memorable, and absolutely worthwhile. We would return in a heartbeat.

Disappointed

Erica G on Jan 12, 2026

The woman, Samantha (I believe), that checked us in was not very friendly or helpful. When we arrived I mentioned that we were getting married that week, and while not having the wedding at the resort, we were having the reception at Morimoto’s, hoping she may give us a slight room upgrade- nothing special but just a little bump. Nope. Okay, I understand maybe it’s against policy. I then ask if there’s any way we could potentially use a small room on the day of our wedding for hair and makeup since our room is so small. Without even looking into it, she immediately says “no, we don’t offer that service.” I’m positive that almost all hotels will offer this but I don’t press. The next day, there was a gentleman at the counter so I figured I’d ask someone else- he was very kind and said he was unsure but would follow up with the event team. Considering we had 6 rooms booked for the wedding and spent almost $6K at Morimoto, I was happy someone was at least looking into it. I received a call later from a coordinator stating we could use a room for $2,000 or upgrade to a suite for the day for $700. I absolutely could not believe I was actually going to be charged for using a small space, let alone $2,000! So much for hospitality, it’s all about money now. Based on how we were nickel and dimed we will not be back nor recommend to others. While the lobby was gorgeous the rooms were nothing special and could use updating.

Great location, comfy room

My husband and I stayed at Alohilani for five nights during our honeymoon and we really enjoyed it! The staff were friendly, the room was comfortable, and the location can’t be beat.
