The location of the hotel is great, right on the beach and close to a lot of amenities. The customer service at the hotel was great, from the valet drivers to the housekeeping, we felt everyone gave you that aloha feeling. It has coin operated laundry which was nice seeing we stayed in Hawaii for over two weeks it allowed us to pack lighter. Buffett breakfast was nice, with a cook to order omelette station. Pool area and restaurants were nice. They now have a resort fee I believe $25 we had the option of declining this as we had booked the trip prior to them instituting the fee. That was great customer service, but I don’t see why they added the fee. Basically you get 2 bottles of water and reserved two beach chairs. the pool closes daily at 8:30, the game room at nine, really leaves you looking for things to do. They have raised the parking fees, but did honor ours @$19 which is what it was when we booked. Again good customer service. The main floor is beautiful, but as you go up the towers the housekeeping and upkeep needs improvement. In our room the refrigerator had the previous guests, food left in it, and the recycling can was disgusting. Carpet’s are stained a bit as well. But the rest of the hotel seemed cleaned well. The room view was partial ocean view. And was great. Overall the hotel is a good hotel, they need to retrain some housekeepers, or institute a room audit before putting guests in rooms. They need to keep the pool and amenities open longer especially if they want people to pay a resort fee.

We enjoyed staying here on the big island. Great location in the centre of Kona and within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. It was great just sitting on our balcony and watching all the activity taking place in the harbour and the beach. We really enjoyed the pool and the snorkelling from the beach. The staff were very friendly and professional.

Great Location; needs renovation; expensive parking

The location is great. It is an easy walk to good restaurants, shopping and harbor activities. There is a little beach with a small harbor for swimming or snorkeling. The oceanfront rooms have very nice views. There are a number of small shops attached to the hotel, including an ABC Store and coffee shop. The beds are comfortable. The room air conditioning is very good and the pool/bar is nice. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. However, our room was in serious need of refreshing or remodeling. There was mold in the tub/shower, the shower head is much too low, and the bathrooms are postage stamp sized. The carpet, chair, desk and dresser desperately need to be replaced. Our room had dozens of gnats everyday, even though we didn’t leave anything open. Parking is $25-32/day (self or valet). We were given welcome drink coupons which stated that it was valid for any ‘cocktail’. However, when trying to redeem such, you are given a list of draft beer, wine or MaiTai’s; that’s a far cry from “any” cocktail. When challenged with such a discrepancy, they did not acquiesce. Also, we were told at check in that snorkel gear was available for the entirety of our stay. However, when trying to redeem, it is limited to one hour per day; anything more is charged. Again, no acknowledgement or acceptance of the misinformation. As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite lifetime member, I expect to be given accurate information, and would expect a better room standard from a hotel in this category.

We took our Denver Skills boys and girls team to compete in Hawaii. We decided to stay at the Marriott because it was 5 minutes away from the gym. Everyone (parents and kids) had a great time at the hotel. We enjoyed the beach access, pool and hot tub rear of the hotel. ABC convenience store was great for snacks and shopping. The coffee shop was a good place to grab coffee and breakfast in the morning. The hotel was very accommodating for our very large group. The beds were very comfortable and our 2nd-floor balcony in front of the hotel was a great place to sit in the morning and chill. The A/C was awesome because it was very humid. The ice machine was close to the elevator, we would fill up our water bottles on our way out in the morning. What I didn't like was the resort fee that is being charged now. We were very fortunate because we booked our reservation before this took effect. To bad because this is a lovely location near many restaurants and the beach. Next, visit I might look into an Airbnb or a hotel who doesn't charge a resort fee. We stayed a week and it would have been an extra $350 if we had to pay that fee.

Great staff. Very helpful in arranging side trips and tours

Typical for a Hawaiian hotel. Moderate room prices offset by high prices for parking, food, drinks and hotel activities. (Luau). Not much of a beach. Some good restaurants nearby, all within walking distance. Staff very nice and helpful. Helped plan several of our activities. I'm sure they got a "kick-back", but that's OK, they have to earn a living.
