Short but oh so sweet

tigger101868 (Suffern, New York) on May 04, 2024

27 Visits in 29 years and already planning my 28th, you can definitely say the Holiday Inn has become my second home & family. My original plan was to have a weeks long vacation to celebrate a very special friend’s birthday and enjoy the sisterhood of my ladies whom I’ve met through the Holiday Inn. Unfortunately, due to a family emergency my visit was cut short, but in the time I was there, the staff went out of their way to make sure I was well taken care of. I love seeing the familiar faces of staff who welcome me with open arms and being introduced to some newcomers as well. Thank you to Robert at Sorrento for insuring a fabulous time for our birthday dinner from the decorated table to the top notch service. You truly made our celebration complete. I might sound biased, but I truly love this place. They have many loyal repeat customers where a dinner is held weekly in appreciation. The staff works incredibly hard from maintenance to landscaping, housekeeping and food & beverage service. The hotel is constantly making improvements and upgrades that I look forward to with each new visit. For a true Jamaican hospitality vacation I could not recommend the Holiday Inn enough. Don’t forget to check out the vendors and crafters at the adult side of the beach. A special thanks to Winsome Hooper, your inspirational words I will hold forever dear in my heart. ??????

Would not recommend!!

Very very dated hotel with poor updated paint work, lift out of older and supposed to be satellite TV but only got 2 English channels as the maid told us it had been down since covid. To pay a lot of money to go and end up being in a dated hotel where the chairs were sticky at every mealtime, food was poor and not a great deal of choice or over cooked at breakfast is poor. Maid service was the only good thing and then they didn't clean the room until 5/6 and by then you were back in the room getting ready for tea. Drains were that bad one night everyone had to be moved to an outside location space away from the kitchens and restaurant. Someone was smoking cocaine on the balcony below and then keeping us awake most of the night. The gardeners were arguing over who was having the coconuts and on the excursions you felt obliged to tip even though you had already paid for the trip & travel, I wouldn't recommend it, besides going a long way for the experience. Unable to go off sight as we were informed by staff that it dangerous. All inclusive does not include water, you have to buy this yourselves.

Spotless

We really enjoyed our time at the hotel, from arrival we were made to feel really welcome, all the information we needed was explained at check in a professional manner. The room was a standard hotel room, spotlessly cleaned every day with clean towels, air con was great and really was needed. We were ground floor 10 yards from the glorious beach with a fantastic view. Food: Always a good selection at the buffet, something for everyone, great omelette station at breakfast by the amazing Chrissy, and nice coffee served and always topped up by Shawn he knew I needed 2-3 every morning. a'la carte was lovely, Sorrento,Seabreeze and de Terrace well looked after ,food and service fantastic. Beach, grounds and pool area always people cleaning. Drink selection good entertainment on until around 10pm, kayaks and pedal boats free to use. Only improvement needed is more parasols for beach and pool areas. We will definitely be back. Great service from, My new friend Ricardo who was sweeping the beach clean at 4am, had a chat with him on my first day's before body clock adjusted great guy never stopped working, always said hello during our holiday. Sorrento, great service from Andreanna and Cruise. Seabrease, Jodi-Ann explained the menu, really happy and bubbly. Lobby Bar Phyona and Orville always welcoming. The ladies on guest services happy for anything needed at any time. All of the staff were good, a polite good morning was always returned with a little chat asking were we came from etc. I tipped regularly for good service, but was never felt obliged at any time during our stay . Thanks for our lovely holiday see you again.

Fantastic holiday

Sorry for the Long review The hotel is not rated 5 star . But honestly you are treated with 5 star service. You are not just another guest. If you do have any issues speak to them and they will do everything they can to resolve it. Quickly We are treated as part of one big family being welcomed home. We have met and made some very good friends here and keep in contact with them. They are constantly working on and updating things, for example replacing the lifts and air conditioning units throughout the resort. Which has been made difficult due to Covid As it says on arrival Welcome Home See you again in September Thank you to all the staff that took such good care of us ??

Nice, clean and a good area

TheReviewGiver (Akumal, Mexico) on May 01, 2024

The hotel was nice it was cleaned to a high standard. The staff are friendly but everyone is looking for a tip. The bars the breakfast buffet people in the shop not just in the hotel in Jamaica itself. Everywhere asks for tips if you spend $1 you’ll be asked for a tip. Something I didn’t know coming I find myself having to bring small cash to the pool. The entertainment is good always have something on at night. Drinks are always cold the food by the pool is lovely burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs. The pool staff however in particular (lifeguards) are very rude. The pool is open until 6pm it’s signed everywhere around the pool. At 5:50 they blow a whistle for everyone to get out (fair enough) not giving out about 10 mins early but as my wife was walking towards the stairs to get out of the pool one lifeguard shouted at her telling her to get out now she replied I’m walking to the stairs to get out. Then a second lifeguard shouted at her again to get out and that she should have got out via a different route. Shouting what if it was an emergency? They threw signs down at 5:52pm and ran away from the pool obviously had something more important on. That’s the only negative experience we had with the staff there. The food in the buffet as with many buffets is average. The restaurants the Jamaican is nice with great service. The Italian always seems closed and the fish restaurant isn’t bad either but you have to book one day in advance. Rooms were very clean. One of the cheaper all inclusive resorts but it’s nice. Would recommend from my experience
