location is amazing on the cliffs. Ever morning there is a local guy fishing for Barracuda below the cliffs. I was able to swim along side him while he caught fish. Very friendly. Marcia the bartender is great! Nice feature to be shuttled between the beach and cliffs to experience both locations. The garden rooms huts are darling! Nice local spot across the street for "authentic" Jamaican breakfast!

The hotel is next to the beach as advertised but is in no way a resort! The staff are generally friendly but “service” is slow. My hotel room was on the beach side. It was pretty good: the bed was comfortable though the extended bed base was sometimes difficult to get on and off. The room was quite dark and as the room was overlooked the colourful curtains had to be partially drawn. The locks on the door were quite basic and I used both the chain and a bolt lock when I was in the room. A flat screen tv was provided. The bathroom was very basic: soap was provided and nothing else except a couple of towels which were changed every day. Face cloths were not consistently provided. The shower faucet was really old and I could not change the direction of the water flow. I can’t forget the two huge cockroaches which were an added extra in the bathroom. I had a ceiling fan and air con which both worked well. There was hot water which was scaldingly hot! The tiles in the bathroom were cracked and old. There was a balcony which was a nice touch but I noticed when it rained it flowed on to the balcony which was a nuisance. The negatives are the dreadful sun loungers which were filthy with frayed or torn material. There were too few beach umbrellas and those on the beach were similarly old and damaged. Beach towels were not provided so you either bought some locally or packed it in the case. Not very convenient. There was a beach guard who helped when the consistent flow of people selling everything imaginable became too much or the sellers became too insistent. I noticed that the beach guard regularly packed up the loungers whilst people were on the beach at 4pm and at 6pm. I wasn’t sure why when I was told they were cleared by 7pm. The food at Legends really wasn’t that great. There is an all inclusive menu between certain hours. It didn’t look particularly appetising. I had the Jamaican speciality escovitch fish from the a la cartel menu which was frankly tasteless and saved only by the pepper. The food was not all that hot either. The food was served on a cracked plate. The one or two cocktails I had were very good. There are plenty of other places to eat in the area which are better. The Wi-fi was not always consistent which was annoying. The gardens are lovely and well kept. The pool plants less so. The pool deck does require some repainting and cracks in deck and steps need attention. The hotel is really a 2* given the dire need for a repaint and a replacement of equipment. That said most of the staff are pleasant and proximity of the beach were the main positives.

Legends was amazing. Beautiful beach right outside the bar. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. Kendrick, Anna and caren with a C were the bomb. Food was great. Drinks were better. I’ll be back to See you guys again soon. Cheers

Don't be fooled by the cleaver photos and descriptions. They don't have "beach front" rooms. The property is a slender, long piece of land that stretches across a very busy avenue, with cars and trucks speeding by. The "beach road" description that gives the impression of a sandy trail is far from real. The "Garden" rooms are across this highway, that requires a "school crossing guard" type to get across. The slender alley is dark and stinks of cat urine. Once you survive crossing the road, you are quickly accosted by the local creeps wanting to sell you drugs or themselves. The rooms are old, moldy and smell of musty old furniture. The AC worked great, only that it is on top of the door, and drips water onto the tile floor in front of it creating a messy, muddy and very dangerous slippery tile. The curtains and furniture are reminiscent of those cheap highway motels that lined the interstates of the midwest during the 60's and 70's. We tried to move to the front or "safe" side of the road, but they wanted an additional $55/night! Breakfast was ok, except when I wanted to replace my plate, because it was chipped in various places with very sharp edges, I was told that ALL plates are like that! We only had dinner the first night, because it left much to be desired. We asked the waitress what brands of rum they carried and her response was "I don't know, ask the bartender"... The place has very little beach front, if you can call it that. It is located on the beach, so you can quickly escape the compound and walk the entire beach. There are limited beach lounges that guest show up at 6am to throw a towel on and hog the chair for the entire day. The ladies in the front desk were very friendly and nice, but quickly stated "that's what management wants" to any reasonable request. The couple checking in next to us also complained about the room across the "beach road". The rooms are outdated, smelly, and ugly. The bed is a cheap pinewood slab with a old lumpy and very hard mattress that does not cover the entire slab. They claim to have internet, but it never worked. If you don't mind this, and are only interested in a beach property, by all means stay here. However, there are so many choices in Negril, I would suggest spending your stay and money somewhere else. I've attached fotos to back up my story.

The houskeeping staff was friendly, Sandra went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and I advised her manager of such. Office staff was good but the resturant staff needs retraining. With the exception of 3 staff members, they weren't friendly, so I choose to eat next door at Kyibas and other locations. I'm not a difficult patron and I believe in tipping but I will not patronize an establishment with poor service. The beachside security stood around and during a 12 day stay never once offered to assist with moving beach chairs or cushions. The listing says this is a beachside hotel and offers ocean or garden views. What it doesn't tell you is the garden property is on the other side of the street, very descriptive. In 15 years I've never stayed anywhere but beach side so that was a real disappointment. I'm rating a 3 because I'm a person who believes in making the best of any situation. I'll stop by Legands to say hi to Sandra but I'll never book there again.
