Sir Francis Drake Hotel

We stayed on New Year's Eve 2019/New Year's Day 2020 and had a wonderful time! The city was buzzing and the hotel was very busy but we were kindly welcomed at check-in and got a great room on an upper floor. We knew the room would be small (and it was!) but this is part of the charm of staying in a historical building and the accommodations could not have been more stylish and comfortable. There was a lovely king bed with cozy linens and a small seating area with desk. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the proximity to The Masonic, where we had tickets to see John Oliver that night. It was an easy walk to/from and we were able to stop into a diner on the corner for a quick bite on the way and a local bar up the street for a drink afterwards! Would definitely recommend for a centrally located option in SF with style!

I have never stayed in a more luxurious, friendly, clean, unique, and accomodating hotel in my life. This is the hotel i compare all hotels to now. Stay at the Kimpton, you will not be disappointed. Anything you may have forgotten they will give to you. Great minibar as well.

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying here in early February. Everything from the front desk, lobby bar, and Lizzy's Starlight Lounge were wonderful. The employees were friendly and the views from Lizzy's is stunning! The room was luxurious, the bathroom was nicely updated and modern but a bit small. but understandable in San Francisco. The shower gel available in the rooms is simply heavenly! Location of the hotel is perfect and the building has a lot of history to it. It's an easy walk to the shops around Union Square and Market Street, and super easy to hop on the Cable Car to get to Fisherman's Wharf.

We were planning on travelling from Australia to the US in June, however we needed to cancel the trip due to Covid-19 travel restrictions. I spoke directly to the hotel who totally understood and refunded our deposit in full. It could have been easy for them to simply say you can have a credit to use within 12 months (like other hotels are doing) however it is very difficult for international travellers to be able to use the credit. Thank you Tony for your understanding.

Very small bathroom but the room was comfortable. I liked the wine tasting in the big lobby. Scalars restaurant in the hotel had great Italian food. I did sneak across the street at the Chancellor Hotel for their breakfast buffet. It can not be beat for $20.
