Value for money in San Francisco

Everything was well beyond expectations. The room was tidy, staff was kind and respectful, the location of the hotel is central. The hotel was recently renovated, but you can smell history in the details. Rooms are clean, no dust enywhere, not common in hotels in SF.

We’ve stayed at the Beacon Grand numerous times because we travel to San Francisco regularly. The accommodations are perfect and the staff is professional but friendly. I don’t have to clean my room and make the bed. There’s a great restaurant, bar and lounge right down stairs. Who could ask for anything more!
Poor Wedding Experience – Not Recommended by a Travel Agent

As a travel advisor, my husband and I chose the Beacon Grand for our own wedding weekend, expecting a seamless, high-touch experience worthy of recommending to clients. Unfortunately, our stay was marked by multiple service failures and a dismissive follow-up that fell short of hospitality standards. The biggest surprise came at check-in: our suite, which we booked PREPAID directly through the hotel's website, was not recognized as prepaid. Meanwhile, our standard room booked through a third-party site was processed correctly. This caused immediate confusion and left us scrambling to resolve the issue, especially frustrating considering it was supposed to be fully handled. A $200 discount and waived resort fees were later offered, but the disruption and awkwardness at arrival lingered. Service throughout the weekend was inconsistent. Multiple calls to concierge went unanswered, and we had to go downstairs in person to request something as simple as extra bedding, unacceptable for a property of this tier, especially during a milestone occasion. The manager stated it was a housekeeping issue, not a concierge issue despite the staff highlighting that we had 24 hour concierge. On our wedding day, we stored drinks with the hotel in preparation for the ceremony. Retrieving them took close to an hour, despite the manager later insisting it was only 10–15 minutes. That version is simply not accurate, we were operating on a precise timeline and know exactly how long we waited. Having that experience dismissed in follow-up communication felt disingenuous and frankly, gaslighting. To make matters worse, our coordinator noticed spit in one of the elevators, a small but telling moment that raised concerns about cleanliness. While the hotel made some gestures to address the issues, the overall experience left us disappointed. I won’t be recommending the Beacon Grand to future clients, especially for weddings or other important life events where service and attention to detail are non-negotiable.
