Lovely relaxing Caribbean hotel

Had a lovely week in this hotel, just perfect for us. We swam in the sea, although not crystal clear as a bit sandy, it was warm and very enjoyable to swim in. The pool is crystal clear and large and is surrounded by beautiful cared for lush palm trees and many pretty flowers. Bed was comfortable, air con good, spotless everywhere, towels changed and beach towels provided. We'd the all inc. Which is definitely a great way to go. Food fine not huge choice, would book again and enjoy the excellent cocktails again too.
A touch of Paradise.

Have just returned 5 days ago, a small but perfectly formed hotel offering a quiet and relaxing stay for it's guests. First rate service from the staff with full waiter service at meals times. Having stayed at various hotels throughout the West Indies over the last 20 years, this is undoubtedly in my top three. I would not hesitate to recommend.
Nightmare

This place was booked on my behalf ,and I have never stayed in such a dump! from having a pole hanging from the ceiling with hangers on it as the wardrobe to having cockroaches for friends ,set in the middle of nowhere, not even on a bus route ,and taxis costing nearly £40 a trip you are a captive audience, and I hope you like the beach, the food is no better, breakfast consisted on streaky bacon over cooked(brittle) and eggs underdone (had jelly on top )beans were fine ,water for tea came in plastic jugs which tainted the water and makes the tea undrinkable hope you like burgers for lunch ,but chips were dry and undercooked .The evening meal was just as bad Meat tough , vegtables hard and under cooked and the soup came with hard lumps .All in all a nightmare
Not Exceptional - but good nevertheless

On arrival at Ocean Point we were greeted by the receptionist and given a rum punch along with all the information we required check in being via a QR code on my wife's phone which the receptionist carried out as we have no idea how these things work (what happened to pen and paper) anyway we were late arriving and were told the bar closed at 10 so having been told we had missed dinner and that there were Sandwiches in our rooms fridge we headed to the bar. A wonderful setting greeted us we were directly on the seafront Quame or Q as he is known provided me with a much needed Beer before we headed off to our room. Our room on the ground floor was well appointed it was decorated in light blue and everything co-ordinated. Whilst a bit old it was serviceable and comfortable a wall safe was included but no actual cupboards just space to hang your clothes and shelves. A good sized fridge freezer with two bottles of water which were yours without payment which had to be re-filled at the water cooler in reception. Any further bottles of water would be charged to your account along with anything from the mini bar in the fridge. Large comfortable bed with bedside cupboards and lights standard lamp opposite and a massive flat screen TV (why so big) we never used this. We had a terrace balcony with a hammock and two comfortable chairs and a huge candle ! no tea or coffee facilities but there are drinks dispensers in reception and on the first floor with a selection of offerings The bathroom was clean hairdryer supplied small shower sink and mirror soap in a dispenser hand gel shampoo and shower gel in containers in the shower cubicle. Loads of towels which were replaced very regularly during our stay. The room was serviced daily throughout our stay and was always immaculately clean. couple of points there was a step to get into the room and one between our bed area and the bathroom potential trip hazards. Beach towels from Reception On venturing out on our first morning we saw there were numerous sunbeds around a very large pool a gazebo at one end with plenty of sitting areas a sloped path of wooden planks (some uneven watch for trip hazards) leading down to the bar and restaurant. to the left was a small beach with numerous sunbeds and shades the sea was a bit rough here. moving around the restaurant again on a planked footway there was a jetty to the left again with plenty of seating and sun beds keep walking to some steps down on to a flat sandy beach. The sea this side was much calmer again numerous sunbeds with shades. A warning here the sun shades are made of wood which are fixed I must have counted 20 plus people who banged their head on them including myself (3 times you thought I would have got the message) These are hazardous and a sign should be on them as a warning. Now to the most uncomfortable experience which occurred on a daily basis throughout our stay. The restaurant. There is no doubt that the food quality is good its presentation has also been thought through . The menu did not change the lunches were the same daily the evening meals were the same excepting there was a different fish dish and meat dish which did re-occur a couple of times during our stay but depending which chef was on depended on the taste which differed quite substantially during our stay. EG first week Beef curry excellent meat quality no fat melt in the mouth ok it was a Chinese style but really good. The second week the same meal was awful fatty meat greasy sauce which didn't taste at all like curry but a grey gloopy gravy. Another meal Spaghetti bolognaise the first week lovely sauce tasty full of meat. The second week it just tasted of garlic oil which I could not get the flavour from my mouth. We found meal times challenging owing to the different nationalities operating as servers. Breakfast was generally good however no Caribbean food except on Sundays where they charged $29 for a saltfish Sous. The challenging part is because it appeared that the servers could not understand what you asked for and if they did it was lost in translation when the order was put through to the kitchen albeit there was an intermediary checking the order. Lunch times were the worst you would order say a Club Sandwich with no fries and no salad and guess what it came up with fries and salad what a waste of food. This didn't happen once it happened every day bar one. In the end it was very frustrating. The evening meals were less problematic except every night my wife asked for still water and every night she got fizzy water and that you asked for steamed vegetables but got greasy ratatouille The good part The bar during the day was handled by Shane a local barman with a huge personality he had no problems with drink orders he understood everything and provided a first class service along with Q in the evening and a new barman Andre it was a delight to speak with these bar staff who were very entertaining Dejene a new young lady working in the bar are was exceptionally good along with all the receptionists. What I will say is the beer came from cans or bottles no draught but OK spirits were local the rum of course being OK. We were all Inclusive but would have found the price of food and drink to be exorbitant eg plate of fries$9 USD that is without the local taxes. Just another point when you arrive you have to pay a tourist tax $3USD per day they say the hotel is cashless but you could pay this by cash I didn't and got charged 5% more by the hotel !!! I was advised but wanted to keep my cash so much for being a cashless hotel ! Yes I would stay here again but only if they can sort the restaurant issues and the uneasiness which is apparent. All in All this hotel has an enviable location and suits our needs There are issues as I have identified with staff and also there are many trip hazards that make this hotel a little difficult to navigate for those with walking difficulties So yes it is Good but not exceptional
Only choose if money is not an issue and the average Caribbean standard is enough.

This is an average hotel, somewhere around 3 stars but at a 5 star price. This fact significantly spoils the hotel's rating, because if they were a little cheaper and communicated properly, it could be a very pleasant hotel. The room is an average Caribbean room, nothing extra, worn-out equipment, e.g. shower only on the top or let's say the bathroom equipment. The doors are not card-operated, but operate with a key. The single beds are not very big, the room is not either, we asked for a sea view, we got it, but in front of it there is the pool, the restaurant, so it only partially looked at the sea. The pool is very nice in the pictures, but in real life it is average, with salt water. The hotel's own beach is after the restaurant, after all, it has everything you need, foot shower, sun loungers, etc. But the beach is not turquoise and crystal clear water, but sandy, seaweed, wavy. The cleaning lady didn't bring water the second day, of course not because the hotel is pet bottle free, there is a water purifier, go and fill up the water, which is fine, but if you left the bottle in town, you don't have anything to fill up with water, I think you should reconsider this. This would all be fine anyway, average Caribbean standard, but the check-in is slow, the hotel is a 3-star, but the price of 375 USD per night is completely unrealistic for this hotel, and that doesn't include the 50 USD per person breakfast either, so 475 USD per night for the two of us. If I add the location, I add that breakfast is 50 USD, and dinner is also about 50-100 USD. So 1 day in this hotel is 600 USD for two people, 300 USD per person, it seems quite a lot, for the quality listed above. The last time we paid this much for a hotel was in a Dominican community, but it was really on the beach, it was really 4 stars, with normal sized beds and I could list the differences. Moreover, at the evening dinner they forgot our order, we had beer, beer and after the third beer, about 1 hour after ordering, we asked where the dinner was, then they realized that they forgot, so we got the dinner an hour and a half after the first order. Which was kind of fusion, neither European, nor Caribbean, nor Italian, so it wasn't worth 100 dollars. But I could also say the breakfast, which is not a buffet but ordered, they forgot to bring one of the juices and the beans with tomatoes, we had to say so, for that reason. Anyway, the hotel would have a good atmosphere, it would be a pleasant Caribbean hotel where I would gladly spend my time in the morning and evening, then have 1-2 drinks at the bar, but not for this much, the amount we left there is completely unrealistic.
