Fantastic hotel, great location, superb team of staff

tonywD1761PF (Barnsley, United Kingdom) on Jan 31, 2023

Absolutely fantastic hotel, superb location, and all the staff were attentive , always smiling and happy to help any of the guests. The 2 restaurants on site were fabulous and made a change from the buffet and Colin’s is a great beach bar. Great entertainment on an evening for those who like a bit of dance and hotel suits all ages. The only downside is we stayed in a signature room which was fine just needed a little tlc and lacked a view Loved it so much we will be back.

Wonderful Stay

Jimbod01 (Thoralby, United Kingdom) on Jan 30, 2023

We stayed at Sugar Bay Barbados for 9 nights in an ocean front room. The room was wonderful. Very comfortable. Gorgeous view out on to palms and the ocean. In contrast to most UK hotels these days, it was lovely to have the room cleaned and refreshed every day. The quality of the food was also very good throughout both in the Reef buffet restaurant and the Umi Japanese and Sizzle steakhouse restaurants (book these two as soon as you arrive!). The beach itself is superb with a plentiful supply of loungers, fresh towels and umbrellas. Everywhere we went the decoration seemed fresh with everywhere also kept clean. The common denominator throughout is the staff. Rather like everyone in Barbados it seems, they were cheerful, welcoming and helpful literally without exception. Overall a terrific stay.

We would certainly recommend Sugar Bay Resort ….. a beautiful beach front location coupled with good food and drinks and delightful staff who can’t do enough to help you. The food in ‘Umi’ and in ‘Sizzle’ were excellent and offered another treat …. Thank you team Sugar Bay we loved our stay and we will be back .

Perfect Paradise

catlovesshoes (Plymouth, United Kingdom) on Jan 28, 2023

Visited in January as part of my 40th celebrations and had an amazing time. We had a signature room on the ground floor in a great location (room 137). Beds and pillows were very comfortable and room was a good size and well decorated and moder and was very clean and cleaned well everyday. We enjoyed all of the food and drinks available. The buffet restaurant has a small selection, however the quality is very high. We enjoyed Umi, which we visited twice during our 2 week stay and the quality was excellent. Sizzle was also good, on our second visit we paid the supplement for the lobster and it was out of this world. We had lunch at Collins bar most days, the macaroni pie, coleslaw and tuna wraps were a firm fav. We also had afternoon tea on a couple of occasions which is situated towards the back of the terrace and this was also good. The key stand out for us was the service from the dedicated staff who all work extremely hard and genuinely take time to show interest and ask questions. Special mention to Niki, Samantha Tyresse, Damion, Lee and not forgetting Joan who we enjoyed a bit of banter with. The Lazy Mongoose pub was great for late evenings for a game of darts or pool. We enjoyed a mix of the beach and pool. The watersports guys were great at showing us paddle boarding. It was my husbands birthday whilst we were staying and the staff made a lovely effort at breakfast which was a nice touch. It was our first time in Barbados and we loved the island and the people. Walking to pebbles beach to see the race horses early morning is a must. We also enjoyed a day at the races ( 10 min walk away). A catamaran trip with El Tigre. An island tour with Mario at Island Explorers and a visit to Mount Gay Distillery. Its very easy to get about on the reggae buses to st.lawrence gap, hometown, speightown and bridgtown. If I had to pick anything that could be improved, perhaps an upgrade to the sun loungers on the beach, not quite as comfy as the ones by the pool and some a little mouldy. Also there was a foul smell some evenings by the main bar, probably the drains but these were both very minor inconveniences.

Great holiday

mickn141 on Jan 28, 2023

Our room was good, but lacking in electric sockets. The location is great, right on the beach, we would walk along the beach in one direction, to Carlisle bay and along the beach and boardwalk to Hamilton , in the other direction. The staff were brilliant. not a large selection of food, but it was always good. Sizzlers and Umi restaurants are worth booking up. We only did one trip, we did the feed the monkeys experience, loved it
