Lovely place to stay

We had a really nice short stay here at the end of a holiday visiting friends on the island. We weren't able to check in early but did have full use of the beautiful pool while we waiting for our room. The room was large and very well presented and had a beautiful view. The facilities in the hotel were very good and there were sufficient beds around the pool area. The dinner at the restaurant was absolutely fantastic and set against a beautiful sunset. My only criticism is that food at the pool bar is served in plastic take away boxes and in a carrier bag when at the tables in the pool bar, rather than on plates. Nonetheless a highly recommended place to stay.
Such a Disappointment

We have been coming here for years and sadly this is our last time. We noticed things going downhill prior to Covid but now just a disaster. Service, rooms everything is a mess. Refrigerator not working, safe not working, toaster not working. Ants everywhere. Front desk spotty. Just so sad, we loved this place. Just happy we did not get involved with fractional ownership. Oh and to top it off pink ferry no longer running. Bermuda ??
Wouldn't recommend when traveling with children or for anyone with a disability.

I would not recommend this hotel and think there's better options, especially when traveling with children or for someone with a disability. the boat that the hotel offers doesn't consistently run and accessing it with a stroller (or i imagine, in a wheelchair) is extremely dangerous. There's a very steep road that you need to go down and at the bottom, there's no guardrails.
Will Be Returning

We were at Newstead from April 24-29, 2022. This was our third trip there and we hope to return again soon. Our last trip there was in November 2021, so obviously we really enjoy the place! The rooms are very large, many with kitchens, and separate living rooms. The view of Hamilton Harbor is beautiful, and with their shuttle, it's very easy to get there for shopping and restaurants. The pool is also beautiful and so clean! My husband played golf there, and we enjoyed eating at Divots several days, even when he wasn't playing golf. It was actually our favorite restaurant there...not fancy but delicious food and very friendly staff. Every staff member at Newstead was very helpful and kind. Sierra at the front desk was very nice and and patient, as were all the front desk staff members. Norman, the shuttle driver that transported us several times was also helpful and very friendly. There were many others who made our trip so special, but I wasn't able to get all their names. Newstead is a special place!
The website promises luxury, if only it for filled the promise.....

Still very much recovering from the pandemic, but the whole island is. Not the luxury you expect from the website. Just entering the reception area was disappointing, very small and basic for a 4* hotel and tired staff. The rooms were clean, but did lack a luxury feel. Everything quite basic. Beds were mid-firm and comfortable. Rooms had great view over the water to Hamilton. Perhaps I did not do enough research, but I thought the golf course was just about on site, short walk from the hotel, it was not! The free shuttle - which was good (apart from the seat belts not working) took 5mins to the golf course, travelling at twice the Island speed limit around very narrow winding roads. We asked if you could walk there and were quite rightly told it was not recommended. Narrow, no pavements/sidewalks with local cars travelling - lets say with local knowledge /luck and not watching out for pedestrians. Do not walk. Aurora was the only restaurant open (even the pool bar was only just reopening the day we left). The pool is tiny, quite pretty with great views, but very small. The pool area is also small. Room for 12 sun loungers with 3 Bali beds and 10 table with chairs. The ferry service to Hamilton stops at 11.20 and does not resume until 17.20 then ceases again at 19.20. All the staff were plainly tired and it did affect customer service. When we return to Bermuda we will go back to the Hamilton Princess.
