You pay for what you get. Don't let the reviews scare you away. The staff worked very hard and did a great job to make sure you had a good experience. The room was comfortable but not cold. We did get a fan and kept our drape shut. It's not the Ritz but has everything you need. Housekeeping kept the rooms clean. Room service was good. The property was clean, and they were updating it every day. The beach was wonderful. They did a great job with the seaweed maintenance. The gym had enough to get a decent workout and the spa was great. The food was good, not great...but the service was phenomenal. They did have a few shows and a huge Friday night fiesta which was wonderful. I would have liked a hammock to lay in and hooks in each cabana to hang stuff. The mixed drinks were light on the alcohol, but you can get it made how you like it if you just ask. Tips go a long way. Overall, it was great experience. everyone was nice and friendly from the bellhop to the servers & housekeepers. The only one out of touch seemed to be the front desk. Every time, I called asking about something about the hotel, their information was wrong but then again it could have been a language barrier. I would recommend and would stay again.

I knew of the Golden Parnassus for a really long time and always said i would get to try it one day well that one day came during my 26th visit to Cancun. We stayed here for 5 days 4 nights a short stay for us and I consider myself a seasoned traveler so my review is based on the property, the staff and responsiveness to issues that may have come up. I had booked a category that gave us a jacuzzi in the room an ocean view and had a romantic dinner for one night in the room. Well that was not a good ideal because once there we were told by guests (and the staff)we hope you are not staying on the 6th floor the a/c is not good maybe they can give you a fan, well we had not gotten our room yet as checkin is not until 3pm but wouldn’t you know it we were on the 6th floor in room 626 and the a/c was barely functioning the faucet in the bathroom sink would not shut off and it made a loud noise randomly and then stopped. We went to the desk to ask about the A/C and the person there confirmed the a/c does not work well on the 6th floor i said that should be told to people before they book that category especially since it is the only floor with that category and if we had known this we would not have booked that category. I inquired about a different room and some type if comp like a spa treatment he suggested a different room and a fan first before he could do any type of comp. Long story short the room was minimally better but we could not use the jacuzzi because it was too hot in the room and i woke up with my nose a little bloody and always sweaty from it being so warm, and did i mention no hot water in the shower on our last day. I inquired ahead of arrival about specialty restaurant attire and was told a collared shirt no need to wear long pants but no one said men must wear actual shoes (i guess dress sandals do not count)i asked this question ahead of time to be prepared and imagine the disappointment when we were turned away from the one restaurant because of the shoes. We went and spoke to someone where i asked to speak to the hotel manager, the lady i spoke with asked what was wrong and i then explained all of the issues we had been having and she did look concerned then went and spoke to someone else who walked us to the restaurant where they took care of us after he spoke to them. But while this gesture was great it did not fix the other issues and we never got any type of comp. I explained to the woman i had been communicating on Facebook messenger with someone from the hotel who advised me about the restaurants in the hotel no one explained anything about how to get the dinner in the room so then when they told us on messenger by then it was too late. We found the staff to be wonderful and the drinks were good the food was ok as well but they need to do something about disclosure of that 6th floor and something to tell people about the hotel when they check in. Also the fact that management never even checked in with us was seriously disappointing so for that we give a thumbs down and we will not be returning. I know it is an older property i am not judging based on that because many properties renovate and upgrade, the Golden Parnassus is in need of a 6th floor renovation. Cancun is still my spot and i will keep going back, just not here.
