The staff makes the hotel! Yes, the resort is quaint and beautiful, but the staff is like no other. Special thanks to Martin, Jose, Carlos, and so many others who worked so diligently to make the most of our stay. We loved the Golden Parnassus so much that we've been twice and are ready to go back yet again! Go and enjoy!
An amazing honeymoon

Just returned from a two week trip to this resort and I can't say enough good things about it. I was there with my husband for our honeymoon, and we will definitely be returning. I found this resort after doing a ton of research on a nice place to go, and this place checked all of the boxes we wanted for an amazing honeymoon. From the moment we checked in, everyone was so accommodating and friendly, and we couldn't get over the layout and design. All of the restaurants and bars were close by and easily accessible. Once we got up to our room, we again knew we made the right choice. We had an amazing 10 days there and can't wait to go back. We would like to thank all of the staff for making our experience so memorable. From Oscar at the Paradise buffet (thank you for all of the mimosas), to the waiters at Sumo, the bartenders (especially the one at the beer garden who remembered our orders) and the room service staff (such an added bonus).
Excellent All Inclusive

First of all, customer service is top notch. Everyone is so friendly and guest oriented. I can’t remember everyone’s names but special shout out to the bell boy and buffet attendants, Oscar and Gamaliez.. y’all were awesome!! My group of 6 would go back just because of how nice everyone was. We loved all the food options, drinks and beautiful beach. The mattress was the only downside. It needs an upgrade, but other than that, the rooms were very clean. More umbrellas on the beach would also be nice. Overall, we can’t wait to go back! We met other people who have been back multiple times. Thanks Golden Parnassus workers for making our stay so great!
No Exceptions And Totally Unhelpful

I had booked a vacation in September. Unfortunately my passport renewal did not arrive in time, despite paying for the expedited processing and shipping, thus making it impossible for me to go. I contacted the hotel directly and asked if an exception could be made for a refund or a credit to be utilized within 6 months. The hotel stated they would not have a problem with this and seemed sympathetic to my situation, however, I would have to go through Priceline where I originally booked the reservation. I called Priceline, who also seemed sympathetic, they stated they would be willing to pursue an exception to the cancellation policy however, it was up to the hotel. The hotel then told me to submit documentation to Priceline with proof of the situation and they would have to allow the exception. I submitted documentation of requested materials, including receipt of passport submission, records of phone calls made to the passport agency in an effort to find out the status and request an in person appointment. I ultimately received an email stating that the hotel would not make an exception. For an industry that is reliant on positive customer experiences this is an egregious response.
Equivalent of $50 USD motel room

What a waste of a vacation. I tried so hard to be positive and enjoy myself, but this was without a doubt the worst place I've ever stayed at. I read a ton of reviews prior to booking in which guests raved out the service of the staff and how that made up for "dated" but "well taken care of" facilities. Dated but clean and well taken care of I can do, but this is not that. The entire facilities are not in need of just some cosmetic updating, but full fledge renovation. Exterior paster was falling off in chunks, pool tiles were falling off in the water, there was no working AC, elevators were constantly out of service, the rooms have hardly any outlets and what is there is worn and won't hold a plug, showers are covered in mold and have weird bulk heads, and so on. What repairs have been executed are done in a sloppy and haphazard manner. In addition to the crumbling infrastructure, the curtains in the room had large worn holes that would let all the morning light in, towels were unraveling and had writing in marker on them, and the bed didn't even have a fitted sheet - just a flat sheet that barely fit the top surface of the mattress. Throughout my stay, I was routinely served glassware that had someone else's lipstick on it and they implement a towel card system, but never have enough towels or towel cards to go around. Upon check-in you receive a single card, good for one towel, regardless of how many people in your party. They tell you to check back in the morning for more towel cards, but if you miss the initial check-out rush, then you'll have to try back the next day. As noted above, the elevators were constantly out of service and need of repair, but what made this situation even worse was the perplexing decision to have maintenance staff apply a fresh coat of yellow paint to the stairs while the elevators are broken. Now not only do you get to sweat up and down the stairwell since you cannot use the elevator, but you also need to step around fresh paint. To top it all off, they close many of the restaurants, leaving you with 1-2 options for lunch or dinner. I was told by some guests who have been frequenting the resort for 20 years, that the reason some of the restaurants aren't open is because the hotel is renting out the spaces for private parties. The check-in paper they give you has incorrect scheduling of what is and isn't open and often times you could not get a clean answer from staff as to what was available. All you could do was go and hope a place might be open for service. I suppose in hindsight this didn't matter too much because many of the restaurants were serving the same dishes - just listed with different descriptions. Many entrees consist of 90% the same items just with a different colored sauce. All in all, it was an incredibly disappointing stay. Obviously the price is much more modest than other accommodations, but I thought I had read enough positive reviews that it will still be an enjoyable experience; unfortunately, that was not the case. Despite the lower price relative to neighboring resorts, I'd say that they are charging too much for what you actually get.
