Sun Palace Cancun Resort Review

Sun Palace Cancun is an incredible resort that truly checks all the boxes. The location is one of the best in Cancun, especially for ocean swimming—the water here is some of the clearest and calmest we’ve experienced. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed; everyone is friendly, the resort is spotless, and it genuinely feels worth every dollar. One of the things we appreciate most is the noise level—it’s much quieter than many other resorts, making it perfect for a peaceful getaway. The rooms are excellent: spacious, extremely clean, and very well maintained. Cleanliness throughout the entire resort is top-tier and never disappoints. The amenities are amazing, especially the spa. The spa staff (the ladies in particular) are absolutely wonderful, and the hot and cold plunge is always such an enjoyable and relaxing experience. The entertainment staff deserves a special mention—they are so encouraging, fun, and genuinely make the experience memorable. Jonathan was here both last year and this year and is incredibly kind. Pedro, Balaria, and Jesus, along with the rest of the entertainment team, always do an amazing job and bring great energy every day. The service overall is outstanding. The staff consistently goes above and beyond, and that’s a huge reason we love coming back. This was our second year at Sun Palace, and the way the staff treats guests makes it feel like coming home. We’re already thinking about returning again next year. Highly recommend this resort for anyone looking for great value, exceptional service, and a relaxing yet fun Cancun experience. ???
What a way to bring-in 2026!

Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay at Sun Palace. The resort experience was overwhelmingly positive, and we would like to recognize several staff members and service highlights that truly stood out. High Points & Kudos • We were extremely impressed and grateful for how attentive Sun Palace was regarding the food allergies within our party. The care and consistency shown gave us great peace of mind. • Our room was always impeccably cleaned, and requests for additional amenities—such as extra hangers and foam pillows—were handled promptly and efficiently. • A huge thank you to the Entertainment Team—Jonathan, Jesus, and Valeria—for the fun, hilarious daily pool activities and for creating and hosting the most EPIC New Year’s Eve party… truly the BEST EVER! • Guillermo delivered a wine tasting and pairing that was fun, interactive, and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and loved running into him and chatting throughout our stay. • Karina, our bar waitress at The Bar, was always friendly and attentive—and quickly learned everyone’s favorite drinks (no small task with seven of us!). She always had my Maker’s 46 ready. • Monica, our drink server at Trattoria, went above and beyond by personally going to The Bar to get my Maker’s 46. • Abel, our waiter at Trattoria, was exceptionally attentive to our group’s needs—again, there were seven of us, including two guests with allergies. Areas for Improvement Background: While we truly enjoyed both the food and service at most restaurants—so much so that we dined at Fuego, Trattoria, and Thai twice—the one exception was dinner at Aurora. It’s important to note that breakfast and lunch at Aurora were consistently excellent, with great variety and attentive service. Dinner at Aurora – Issues Encountered: • Dinner service was lacking and disappointing. • It took 1 hour and 12 minutes (yes, we timed it) to receive the complimentary mushroom dish. • Even after more than an hour, appetizers had still not been served. • A particularly disappointing moment occurred when I ordered my usual double Maker’s Mark 46, fully aware of the up-charge, as this had been my go-to dinner drink throughout our stay. • When the drink arrived, it did not taste like Maker’s 46. I asked my husband to verify his drink in case there was a mix-up; his Johnny Walker Black was correct. • We informed our server, Alfredo, that my drink was incorrect. • When Alfredo returned, he explained that because Maker’s 46 carried an up-charge, the drink had been substituted with Johnny Walker Red. • This was extremely disappointing. Substituting an order—especially without informing or consulting the guest—is unacceptable. The choice to substitute, and what it is substituted with, should always be made by the customer. For reference, I am not a fan of Johnny Walker. • Ironically, this decision resulted in lost revenue for Sun Palace. I was already accustomed to the up-charge and typically enjoyed two double pours with dinner. Because of this experience, I chose to forgo my usual drink altogether. By the time dinner was finally served, my appetite—and the overall dining experience—had been negatively impacted by both the excessive wait time and the drink issue. Final Thoughts Despite this experience, the majority of our stay was excellent, and the staff overall provided outstanding service. There were far more positives than negatives, and we sincerely appreciate the many team members who made our vacation memorable.
Amazing experience at sun palace!

I had a fantastic stay at Sun Palace Resort. The property is beautiful, the rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed yet fun—exactly what you want from an adults-only resort. The restaurants were also excellent. There was a great variety of dining options, the food was consistently fresh and well prepared, and the service was attentive. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, every meal felt like a quality experience, and it was nice having different cuisines to choose from throughout the stay. What truly made the experience stand out, though, was the entertainment team. A huge shoutout to Jonathan, Jesus, Valeria, and Pedro—they were absolutely amazing. Their energy, friendliness, and genuine enthusiasm made every activity more enjoyable, whether it was during the day by the pool or during the evening events. They really know how to engage guests and create a great vibe without ever being pushy. Thanks to them, the resort felt lively, welcoming, and memorable. I would definitely recommend Sun Palace and would happily return—especially knowing such a great entertainment team is there!
Second Christmas at Sun Palace

This was our second trip to Sun Palace over Christmas and as always it feels like we are coming home. We have met so many wonderful employees there and hope to see them every time we visit. The food is great, and the waiters and waitresses are the best. We ate breakfast every morning at the Aurora restaurant where we hoped to get Jesus or Juan as our waiter. Afterwards we headed to the pool, which was heated and felt wonderful. Later on, we would have a Mudslide followed up an hour or so later with spicy Bloody Mary's. Savio and Manuel were right there every time we needed a drink. While at the pool there were two Pool Concierges, Danni and Ricky, that took excellent care of everyone, and we hope to see them every time we visit. The atmosphere at Sun Palace is the best we have ever had and the room we had had a great view of the pools and ocean. We never met the housekeeper or the person that did the turndown at night, but our room was always perfect. Actually, we cannot imagine going anywhere other than a Palace Resort. First class is just what it means, and Palace Resorts has perfected it, especially Sun Palace. The resort has 4 restaurants although our favorites are the Thai and the Italian. The chef, Fernando Morales, prepared a special dinner for us which was Chicken Parmesan and served by a wonderful young man, Armando Ricardo. The night we had the special dinner the bartender, Francisco, from the Diamond Bar was now working in the Italian Restaurant. We had met him earlier during our trip and he made my wife the best Margarite she said she had ever had a Palace Resorts. We are going back again in April of this year and hope to continue our visits at Christmas ever year.
Exceptional Experience

We enjoyed our stay from the staff to the spacious accommodations, dining, beach, coffee/sweet shop, spa, well equipped exercise room, and entertainment. The honeymoon suite met all our needs including the coffee/expresso machine, maid service, comfortable bed, temperature of the room, and a wonderful view of the sea from the big balcony, The resort is small enough to find everything easily and it's convenient to get around. A special thank you to Christian, our VIP Concierge, that helped make our stay special with room, restaurant requests, and our seamless transportation arrangements to our next week's stay at the LeBlanc Cancun. Overall the culinary experience from the food selection, to the staff, Chef Diane at Tratorria, and the service at all restaurants provided a variety of options for dinner and were delicious. The breakfast and lunches at Aurora had an abundant selection of fresh proteins, seafood, fruits, an assortment of cold salads to allow us healthy choices, and numerous beautifully detailed yummy desserts, and ice cream. The non-alcohol options were plentiful. I was able to get mock-tails at every dinner. At the Coffee & Sweet Shop bean selection for the coffee/expresso and exquisitely delicious sweet treats were exceptional and a delightful experience. The coffee & sweet shop staff were very accommodating, professional, knowledgeable, kind, and super friendly including Eric, Ariadna, a 2nd Eric from the Moon Palace that was receiving cross-training, and Valeria. At the quiet pool bar, Francisco, the bartender was able to provide a non-alcoholic chocolate monkey with a whole banana and double shot of expresso every day. The beach with it's easy access to the picturesque turquoise blue carribean sea, and powder white sand was wonderful and well maintained with little to no problems with seaweed. At times there were areas of calmer water to enjoy a swim, tread water to cool off, and spots with surf good enough for the occasional body surfing. Overall the accommodations, food, drinks, service, and staff at the pools, and beach were excellent. Especially Daniel, the Lifeguard, that provided helpful, informative knowledge, kind service, and safety.
