They say things are more laid back on island time. At Isla Mujeres Palace, everything happens on your schedule. This secluded and stunning island is a lover's escape boating sweet, rustic refinement. Whether your sipping craft cocktails under a thatched-roof hut, sneaking in some midday shuteye in your hammock, or enjoying a romantic candlelit dinner, you'll feel like the only two people in the world at Isla Mujeres.
Isla Mujeres is an island just off the coast of Cancun, so your vacation starts with you skimming across a turquoise paradise as you are transported to your hotel. Depending on what time your flight lands in Cancun, you will either be transferred to the private marina in order to go on the hotel’s private boat service to Isla Mujeres where you will arrive directly at the hotel’s dock OR you will be transferred to the Public Ferry Terminal to board a Large ferry to Isla Mujeres. If you arrive to Isla Mujeres by Public Ferry you will need to take a taxi (approx. cost $ 5 – 8 USD payable by guest ) to the Isla Mujeres Palace Please be advised upon arrival at the Public or Private Ferry docks there may be a wait due to the boat/ferry schedule. The hotel private boat transfer is not available on Wednesday’s for arrivals or departures. All guests with Wednesday arrivals or departures will be required to transfer to and from hotel using the public ferry and taxi services.

The “pool” view was disappointing-it was a view of the rooftop of the restaurant next door.
That disappointment was overshadowed by the delicious food, excellent service, and intimate atmosphere. Julian, waiter at Azul was the best server. We were so impressed with his service that we asked for him by name. Overall a lovely, relaxing experience.
Small, All-inclusive Resort

With only 62 rooms, except for boutique dive resorts, this was the smallest of the all-inclusive resort we have visited. Besides being intimate, it is also adults only. There are 3 restaurants but they vary the theme/menu so there is more diversity. The snack bar at the pool has great, made to order pizza cooked in a wood fired oven. Breakfast offered not only cooked to order eggs and omelets but also pancakes and waffles so they were hot. Disappointed in the fruit selection but that may be because of the number of guests. Premium liquors are available but the bottles ore not displayed and you need to ask for it. Entertainment included the Mexican Dancing and fire show which we have seen before but also a magician that was excellent. There was live music including a Female Mariachi Band (but it is not the same without the trumpets), piano in the lobby bar, and other music in the restaurants and around the pool.
The nicest section of the small beach with the day beds and nice chaise lounges was reserved for their VIP and Palace Club guests. For the rest of us there were enough chairs on the beach and pool. Depending on the guests the pool could be quiet and relaxing or loud and obnoxious.
Palace is situated near Punta Sur and almost all the activities on the island are around Playa Norte on the other end of the island. Without traffic, it is only 100peso and 10 minutes by taxi but it can be a half hour with traffic. We went to Playa Norte to do a Whale Shark trip and also did 2 scuba dives. Since the diving was almost right offshore from the resort, we wanted the boat to pick us up at the hotel dock. The Hotel charged US$ 13 pp to allow the boat to pick us up and drop us off. Regarding the location, it is between 2 beach clubs for day trippers. and the beach is not a good place to walk beyond the property. The swimming area was covered with turtle grass and it looked like sargassum was floating around just offshore. It was only about 4 feet deep. It was not enjoyable for swimming. Water sports (kayaks, paddleboards, etc) were restricted to the small swimming area.
Airport transfers are included (if you book direct). We had to take the ferry to the resort but came back on their private catamaran. The catamaran is much faster and convenient. The rep at the airport gives you the necessary vouchers and ferry tickets.
