A Beautiful Escape!

Tals979 (Peabody, Massachusetts) on Oct 05, 2024

We planned our first vacation in 3 years for our anniversary and went to Clearwater. All was well until Hurricane Helene had other plans...having to evacuate but being unable to get a flight out, we chose to drive across the state and go to Sonesta Fort Lauderdale. What an amazing escape plan! This hotel is incredible. We were greeted by the wonderful Evelyn, who had a big smile and welcomed us to their hotel. She filled us in on the property and all of the area had to offer, and promptly got us checked into our room. Our room was on the 6th floor with a beautiful view of the beach. The room was impeccably clean and very comfortable. The lobby of the hotel is gorgeous and equally as clean, the restaurant was delicious and convenient, and the pool area was fantastic. We interacted with a ton of the staff and I have to say, it's the best service we've ever had at a hotel. This hotel takes the cake for the best of the best. Try them out, you will NOT be disappointed!

Enjoyable Hotel at Sonesta Hotel

Camper49632153215 (Cork, Ireland) on Oct 05, 2024

Excellent Hotel and good facilities. Reception was lovely on checking in. The lovely Evelyn was a delight and very helpful. Nicest greeting we have had in all the hotels we have stayed in. Was very helpful in recommendations which were excellent. Hotel facilities very good and enjoyed our nights stay. Wish it could have been longer.

Great location, expensive parking

A_m_b_i_e_n_t_Oslo (Oslo) on Oct 04, 2024

Stayed for 2 weeks. Location next to beach was very nice and pictures were accurate. Room had a partial beach view and nice, however a bit smaller than we had anticipated. Staff was welcoming, and always attentive both in front desk and restaurant. We were not aware we had to ask for room cleaning at the front desk. So we were running out of towels and toilet paper etc. After requesting we were told they would come the day after. They never showed up, we told the front desk, same thing happened the day after. On the third day after some escalations the finally arrived. It improved the week after but still there was one day they did not show up as promised (we did not ask for cleaning evry day). When they did show up they did a good job. Front desk told us they were short staffed and struggled to keep up. I hope this is resolved since it was something that did not live up to the quality we expected. Pool area was not very big, but never over crowded. Gym next to pool area was convenient. It’s only Valet parking, and it would have cost us about 1000$ for the whole trip. We used it the first day and found parking for 90 $ for a month 5 mins away. After reviewing my bill half way in the stay I saw we were charged with Valet for the whole stay. I told the front desk about this and they said I had to tell them if we stopped using the Valet. The did however remove the charge for the days I did not use it without any discussions in a very professional way. All in all a great stay with some issues that should/could have been avoided.

Shenoya!!! made our Experience Amazing !!

Alysa C on Oct 01, 2024

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Sonesta hotel for 8 days. The views from the hotel are amazing. And the staff were very delightful. We had a minor problem with our A/C, with that said Shenoya went above and beyond to make everything better about our stay. She was always very polite, welcoming , and greeted us every time she seen us. She did everything in her power to make our situation better, and more. We got a new room which felt great. She went out of her way multiple times to get us to switch rooms because she put our best interest above all. She made sure we had the best experience, from checking on us, asking about our time here in Florida, and making sure if we needed fresh linen, and overall looking out for us more than we could ask. Shenoya is the sweetest concierge. The way she handled our situation at the Sonesta alone, would make us come back. She set the bar above and beyond. She is very pleasant to talk to, and couldn’t have been any better. Shenoya made our stay a 5 star experience and she is a 20/10 employee. We are very thankful for her working the front desk and putting her all in her efforts to make sure we got the fullest of our stay and experience. We highly recommend the Sonesta! :)

Isn’t why it used to be. Will be my last visit.

SouthernFriedFoodie on Oct 01, 2024

Staying here in the past, we were please to return when we found ourselves needing a place last minute when our other reservation fell through. The lobby is very clean and inviting. But I would say they have strong fragrances being put into the air so be aware of you have any allergies. Jet was very kind, smiling and helpful. When we got to our room, the A/C wasn’t working so maintenance had to come up and mess with it for a bit to get it to work. The hotel is definitely showing wear now, and several areas were not as nice as previous stays because of this. They require a $100 per night deposit, they charge $55/nigh for Valet which I feel is way too much given the caliber of hotel this is. They also charge $45 (ish) per night for “amenities” which seem to be beach chairs and towels. I feel these fees really just pushed me beyond feeling valued as a guest. It felt very out of line given pricing of much nicer hotels in the area. We’ve stayed at many, having previously lived in Ft. Lauderdale. So these fees were really high for what you get. It felts gross to be honest. I did take pictures of all the damage to the room when we got in since they had taken a deposit for the $100/night. It just left a bad taste in my mouth that we were having to pay so much more and really get nothing for it. The fact you have to pay to get an umbrella just is gross when you are already paying the “resort fees”. I should have just stayed at Turnberry for those rates. The room was nothing special, not even any art on the walls. Just bland. Previous stays we had a beautiful room with the corner window view that just wowed us. Really disappointed in this time. Woken up a few mornings very early to VERY loud neighbors having $3X and screaming. Just wasn’t the nice place we’d enjoyed so many times before.
