Great location, access & wonderful staff
B B (Raleigh, North Carolina) on Jul 20, 2024
In spite of evacuating the island, due to Hurricane Beryl we enjoyed the trip while there. The staff at the Marriott were gracious and helpful while we were there and especially as we were trying to avoid the storm. We found the front desk staff to be very professional and were very impressed with their help in contacting airlines, shuttles to the airport and an exceptionally extended check out…all unflappable in light of a very strong storm approaching. From the guys at the bell stand, to the restaurants, to the housekeeping staff…all were incredible. The amenities were exactly what you would expect from a typical Marriott + a beautiful pool overlooking crystal clear waters (snorkeling access, jet skis, sailboats were all in very close proximity). Highly recommend.
Great stay during low season

Been wanting to revisit the Cayman Marriott since 2017 as we really enjoyed it the first time around. We were well aware of the lack of a beach but that didn't matter much to us as we could save some money this way, and explore other beaches during our trip. Here's our take, listed in pros/cons: Pros: - Beautiful property in a great location of 7 mile beach. We were able to walk to other local gems close by. - Clean, updated rooms. Comfortable beds and brightly lit bathroom. - Friendly, welcoming staff - Free coffee in the lobby every morning - Very sophisticated ambiance in the evening- candle lit welcome entrance and lobby - Relaxing atrium with live turtles and comfy chairs, they pipe in spa like music every now and then- loved that - Some cool activities offered although we were usually out and about during them. I enjoyed the afternoon popsicles by the pool and the cooling towels one day. Sid took good care of us and is a great asset to the property - We liked the kayak and stand up paddleboards, it was too hot to take a bike out during our stay - Aloe, sunblock, fruit infused water and daily snacks by the pool were a really nice touch - We never had issue finding a pool lounger as there is a staff that monitors the chairs so that pool piggies don't save unused chairs all day - Gorgeous sunset right off the patio, had a wonderful evening enjoying a glass of wine while the sun set- would be awesome to have a celebration each night with the stunning Cayman sunsets! - Oceanfront room was the best view from a room I've ever experienced, I didn't want to leave! - We found that most of the guests during our stay were couples which made the resort very peaceful and calm Cons: - Not really getting the Summer House theme anymore- it's a great concept but I feel like it's not really embraced. Oftentimes, the lobby smelled like grease due to the cooking in the middle of the lobby, and bartenders wearing denim overalls just didn't give me that beachy summer house vibe. - Outdoor areas closed very early! The oceanfront area outdoors closed up after sunset. One evening the bar was open late (Sat) but other than that everything closed early. I tried getting a dessert at Veranda one evening but it closed at 9 despite the website saying 10. Luckily, a kind worker was able to secure a dessert to go for us from the lobby restaurant. Another evening we wanted gelato but they said it was already closed. - Pool was uncomfortably warm, and the entire pool area had a quiet, awkward vibe. Would be nice to have some background music as a backdrop to enhance the vacation vibes. Our first day, the pool was so quiet it just lacked energy. Maybe some fun events or staff vibes could help this- it needs something since the beach no longer exists. I'm not recommending a party atmosphere, because I do enjoy to relax, but something a little more lively could help. - Rooms did not have a desk, almost feels like the remodel is not yet complete. Husband wanted a place to work in the early morning but there was not an appropriate space - Parts of the hotel seem to have wear and tear- especially the outside areas. Also, more attention to the hallways could be had (for example, a bin of old phones sat outside our hallway for 2 days, and a room service order of fruit sat outside for a half day which isn't ideal) - Note to manager- check the balcony railings- some may need to be cemented in as ours was quite wobbly, a safety concern to make you aware of Overall, we did enjoy our stay and might consider staying here again if we could find a deal. We spent most of our time exploring the island and this central location allowed us to do so. I hope Marriott continues to invest in this property and make it competitive with some of the newer resorts.
