Best place in town!!

My room wasn’t ready, so the bellhop called the from desk and they put me in the penthouse suite for my entire 2 weeks stay without charging me anything extra. The view was extraordinary!!! My first stay at this hotel and they gave me the best views in the house in my first penthouse!! Nothing compares to the service I received at Ohana East. Their service was above and beyond now no other hotel or room will ever compete!! They spoiled me rotten!! Thank you everyone at Ohana East Outrigger I love you forever!!! Great memories!!! Everyone should have this experience.

As expected, absolutely great value

At least by the time we booked, there are not of a lot of places that could beat the ohana waikiki east in terms of value, given what you pay versus what you get in terms of location, amenities, room size, and services. I would have rated this hotel slightly lower, but I am giving a 5 given all the visible efforts the staff is doing to make us comfortable in the covid/post covid era. First, this hotel is in a prime location. It is on the same block as the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and the International Market Place, so really close to the beach (bring aqua socks as the section of the beach is very rocky) and shops/restaurants. At the check in time, we were asked to park in the garage and reach the reception from the park garage and to drop any piece of luggage, if we wish. The check in process was relatively smooth, it seems some of the staff were in training, but they were trying to be helpful. Some glitches with the keys but all were easily solved by another trip to the reception. Parking is paid and is self parking. The rate was fine. The thing to notice is that, if you have a "larger" car, you may need to (a) squeeze in some of the slots marked as "compact" (and it may not fit), or (b) wait a bit for someone to leave. We haven't had the problem of not finding a place to park, so we don't know what happens if (b) fails as well. Having said that, there is a temporary parking of the International Market Place, the Sheraton/Westin hotels right next to the Ohaha. One of the "incidents" is that the ticket reader had some glitch during our stay, so we had to wait for the help of a staff member on our first exit from the garage. But afterwards, it seems that the staff were able to recognize our car and manually open the parking gate whenever we enter or exist the garage. A big thanks for the staff member, who always waved at us with a friendly smile. For us, the room was like it was described with the caveat that it would not look as new as in the pictures. It is not new, but it is not outdated either. I think someone comment it feels like an AirBnb and, considering that this is a time share property, I think the analogy is valid. We had a one bedroom apartment, where the common area had a sofa bed, a dining table wth 3 chairs, and a kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, a hot plate, and wet bar). There were pots and utensils in the kitchen, but not sealed, so we washed them again before using to make sure. The bedroom is separated, with a desk, a bed, but no tvs (no problem on this). AC control is also separated by room which is a nice plus that some won't notice. In general, the room plus bedroom had a decent space for 4 people. There is a "balcony" but it was not designed to be open (it does not fit a chair or anything, it barely fit some pairs of shoes). The winds can be pretty strong, so I recommend some careful thoughts before trying to hang swimming suits to dry (but aqua shoes were ok). The space in general was fine. There is an ABC down the street to get whatever you may need immediately, and the front desk will most likely provide you what you need, if they have it available. The hotel still offer maid services, although they have some schedule you need to ask. Regardless, you can ask for refreshes, they were not charged. Also, get and return your beach towels to the front desk. Location, as I mentioned, is fantastic. Walk to beach, shops and restaurants, with the International Market Place and other malls very close (some of the most lively stretch of Kalakaua). It has some of the best rates in TA for a 1bdroom in Waikiki, and definitely one of the best locations. From the minus side, the hotel does not feel old, but somehow it feels "overused" (not tired), but things like visible luggage wheel marks on the baseboards in the hall ways and some minor scratches on the way seems to detract from its semi luxurious feel. Maybe some deep cleaning event down the road? All in all, I think it was a terrific value from what we got, a budget + place if you will. Would stay here again.
