I can't forget MATA's sweet smile I met in the hallway. I'll remember her greeting like a sweet friend and wishing me a good trip
Business Staycation Tradition
Ronnie B (Pearl City, Hawaii) on Oct 30, 2024
We've come to make our staycations in Waikiki a yearly tradition to unwind from a busy work year and we stayed at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel for the second year in a row. Our experience last year was exceptional and our experience this year was just as great, if not, BETTER than last year. It was a positive experience from beginning to end. It started with us driving up to the hotel and being greeted by the friendly and helpful valet staff. They quickly helped us unload our baggage and wished us great stay at the hotel. Next, the staff at the check in were very quick and efficient with checking us in. They also explained all of the amenities that are offered at the hotel such as restroom locations, free water stations to fill up our water bottles and flasks, the 24 hour fitness center, room service, and more. After checking in, we stopped in the lobby to get some snacks and drinks at Knotts Coffee Roasters Hawaii as it was early in the afternoon and we needed a pick me up. The consistency of friendly staff throughout the hotel also resonated at this coffee shop. We tried their butterfly pea latte which was very floral and not overly sweet, black coffee which was strong and not burnt like other places we've been to, and their delicious macadamia nut croissant with macadamia nut butter in the middle which was to die for. We also stopped by the cute little snack shop, Aloha Whip, to get their Dole Pineapple whip float. We love pineapple whips and this did not disappoint. We ate our snacks and drank our drinks in the cozy lobby area which had lots of comfortable seating as well as very convenient outlets with USB ports to charge our phone as well as keeping our laptops charged so we can get some business work done while eating our snacks. When we got to our rooms, they were immaculate. The air conditioning was already on so it was a great feeling walking into a cold room, especially since it has been hot and muggy recently. the rooms were very clean and we were greeted with little gift bags on our beds with lots of local snacks to enjoy. There were also comlipmentary slippers awaiting us at the doorway for us to use. We had corner ocean view rooms so we had a great view of Diamond Head, the Honolulu Zoo, and Waikiki Beach. The rooms were so inviting and comfortable that there were days where we just wanted to stay in our rooms and sleep all day. We were also able to experience eating at in house restaurant, Deck. We have been here many times and their food it always great. Last year we were able to experience their breakfast/brunch and dinner menus. This year we tried out their happy hour menu as we were looking to just have a few bites and some drinks. The chips and guacamole as well as the truffle fries were the stars of the show for us. We ALWAYS get the truffle fries whenever we come to Deck because they are just that good. The chips and guacamole were perfect with just the right amount of salt on the crispy and thin chips to compliment the freshly made guacamole. We were also able to try out their new sushi rolls which we were told just got added to the menu a month ago. On top of getting the food, we also had to get some drinks. Since it was the spooky season, they had Beetlejuice inspired drinks which were all great. They also had a pumpkin spice ale which was very smooth and had a hint of pumpkin spice so the flavor was not over powering at all. Since we ate so much, we had to make sure that we checked out the fitness center, which is open 24 hours. Most hotels have fitness centers that are open during certain times, so having a 24 hour fitness center was very convenient. The facility was extremely clean with lots of weights and machines to choose from. The best part was using their cardio machines as all of them are pretty much like a Peleton as they had screens where you could choose to have a fitness coach, choose your difficulty level, or reach certain achievements for your workout. This was on their stair climber, treadmills, ellipticals, and their stationary bikes. The best experience was their stationary bikes as they had games on there to keep you motivated to work out. We played a game where you had to ride around and collect coins to try and get the highest score on the machine. There was also a game where you are competing against other "racers" and we played one of them which we competed and rode on a rollercoaster track! On top of that there is a conveniently placed water station as well as lots of towels there. We also noticed that an employee would come in around every half hour to check on the facility to make sure there were lots of towels available, the trash was emptied, and put back any misplaced equipment lying around. This is easily one of the best fitness centers that you can find at a hotel. When it was all said and done, the checkout was quite fast as it took less than 3 minutes to process. Most other places that we've been to would take at least 10 minutes. On a side note...we were constantly either greeted or acknowledged by all of the staff that we passed by throughout the hotel. This little gesture definitely resonates the "aloha spirit" that Hawaii is known for and this just tops off the wonderful experience that we had for our company staycation. All in all this was another 10/10, 5 star experience. The Queen Kapiolani Hotel is top notch in our book and we're already looking forward to our next company staycation here!
