Great experience at your hotel’s pool! The atmosphere was wonderful, and the drinks were excellent. A special thank you to Jakub for taking such great care of my friend and me. His friendly and professional service made our visit even more enjoyable.
Hotel with beautiful design but not 5 star standard

On our 7th trip to Honolulu, we decided to split our stay at 2 hotels (Marriott resort spa using the Edit from Chase and Alohilani using lifestyle from Venture X). Alohilani is a 5 star vs Marriott is a 4 star so we chose to stay here on the second leg of the trip. Our booking included 3 nights at Ocean view room +$50 credit and complimentary upgrade if available. Because it was Jul 4 week so we were told no upgrade was available because the hotel was fully booked. However, when i did a check, website still shows there was available room at Ocean view with Diamond Head view (which is a better room type) ???????. When entering the room, the best view was blocked by a huge TV and we needed to stand at a corner to have the ocean view. Please see the photos. Our direct views were other hotels. I have stayed at Hilton, Sheraton, Outrigger, Marriott, etc. at Waikiki before so our expectation about ocean view was not blocked by TV and building. The hotel has auto-message system and when being asked about our stay, we shared our feedback. We were told to hold on for a moment but was left with no updates for 2 hrs. I only got a reply after i texted them again. A staff requested me to take photo of my room view and come down to the reception the next day. We were on vacation, not spending time to justify our feedback. We sent the photos though message and were told if we want better view, we need to pay extra (which means they had available rooms!). Then i mentioned that my booking included complimentary upgrade. The staff now asked me to wait. After a while, we were told that the hotel was full booked and they offered us $100 (what a joke ??). At this point, i don’t think they wanted to entertain us anymore. We used it on the spa which covered tax and tip. Not to mention this hotel offered the worst breakfast as a 5 star hotels. The choices were poor and quality was not there. We didn’t eat at the hotel after the first day. A mususbi nearby was much better. On top of that, the air conditioner was really loud. The emergency alarm was alos triggered twice during our stay. On an afternoon, i decided to hang out at the pool while waiting for my husband, i encountered a guy i knew for sure was not hotel guest walking around. He then took the lift go get out of the hotel but left me a little worried and cautious. About the design, the bathroom door was so tight to the toilet which both my husband and i hit ourselves when trying to close i. Overall, it is still a very clean hotel with convenient location (beach across the street) , cleaning staffs were super nice and friendly. The bed and pillows were really good. Lobby was beautifully designed with huge fish tank. But with the same range, you will get better value and service at Sheraton or Hilton or bite the bullet to stay at Westin or Royal. I don’t think i will come back which is unfortunate ??
