Overview
Great ocean views with warm aloha service. This private oasis, just minutes from the premier resort area of Wailea, offers extra-spacious condos with private lanais in a tropical setting. Golf, shops and dining nearby. A perfect alternative to more expensive Wailea super-resorts.

Maui Hill needs some serious work
HSBChicago1 (Chicago, Illinois) on Sep 11, 2023
Maui Lea at Maui Hill is an older outdated property. Decor is dated to the point where soon it could be considered vintage, though couch was newer. Kitchen is in working order, though it is VERY small and looks like it is from the 90's. Sink area and dishwasher both had a musty odor. Bedrooms and living room are carpeted with a plush type carpet. No idea who thought that was a good idea in a beach town. Bed was pretty comfortable, though linens need to be replaced as they were pretty shabby. Bathroom's are also older and needed a good cleaning and to be recaulked. Towels are old and rough - I would be using them to wash my car. Also, we had an ant issue in the bathroom that needed maintenance attention. Maintenance appeared to come in and spray, but didn't bother cleaning up the dead bugs (gross!!!) luckily my husband took care of that. Lanai's are also carpeted and were filthy - to the point where we actually took the vacuum out and cleaned it ourselves. The view was pretty much of the parking lot and there are no ceiling fans (also very little breeze) on the lanai, so did not spend much time out there. This is the first property I've stayed at in 30+ visits to Hawaii, where I did not spend much time on the lanai - really a shame to be in Hawaii and have your morning coffee indoors. AC is on 6 hour timers and did not keep the unit cold. We called several times to have it adjusted, but never did see anyone actually come and do it. Plus there is a mandatory $45 weekly energy charge. Shouldn't that be budgeted into the assessment expenses? Made us wonder, what the assessment is being spent on???? The grounds of the resort are kept up to a reasonable level, but they too could use some work. Pool area is fine and does have some shade. The hot tub though looked disgusting. The biggest plus is the location - very close to Kihei and Wailea. Lots of great restaurants & shopping in both areas. Also the beaches are close too! James at the front desk made checking in a very nice experience - very fun & friendly! I was not expecting a 5 star place - but Maui Hill needs some serious work. I did speak with manager to request a different unit, but he never got back to me as he said he would.. This didn't surprise me, as that was on par with the overall experience. Overall we wouldn't stay here again.
Great Staff

Great staff and service. Very large rooms: 2 bedrooms, 2 bath, kitchen, dining area, and even an in-room washer/dryer. Nice hot tub and pool. Dennis, the manager was exceptional! The staff was professional and made every attempt to make the stay enjoyable.
