The resort is well situated on the beach and within minutes of many activities, restaurants and shopping. We had an oceanfront from that was wonderful. Our housekeeper was excellent and pleasant to interact with. The other staff were helpful, kind and patient. Maui in general was a great experience. September is said to be the lowest month in terms of crowds. The crowds were manageable but still more than I was expecting.

We loved our vacation here. Low key. Hawaiian and ohana vibe all the way. Easy walk to Whalers Village. We got the renovated room so it was lovely. Friendly staff. Beautiful sunsets within steps.

We have nothing but great things to say about this resort. It is not super fancy like other resorts in the area but that is fine by us. Our rooms were a good size, the beds were super comfy and the resort is quite clean. Our cleaning lady, Remedy, has been amazing. She made sure we had enough towels and other supplies. Plus, she left us daily notes of gratitude. The pool is small and dated but we never had an issue finding a chair so we could enjoy a swim. There is lot of shade around the pool. Also, there are plans to update the pool in the future. The beach is a short walk and quite large. The walk way along the beach was great to walk to the Whalers Village and restaurants. There are quite a few cultural classes you can take for free. Everyone is so nice and hard working. There are no microwaves in the room only in the little shop on the first floor. The Maui Brewing Company is a nice place to have a cool drink or a bite to eat. There also is a coffee shop window you can purchase drinks and basic food.

We booked a garden view room and were given the ground floor of yuck lawn looking at a green construction fence. When we asked to be moved to a room with a more pleasant view, the staff member and manager were unpleasant and seemed surprised by our request. Odd to say the least as you can see from the photo, no one going to Hawaii would want this view and no one would consider it a “garden view.” We were charged $100 to be moved (4 nights) to a room with an interior view that was pleasant aside from its proximity to the garage where we could hear tires screeching all day and night. Found the grounds to be acceptable, but the hotel overall rundown and in need of repairs. That seems to be scheduled based on a sign we saw. Future guests should be aware of this pending construction. The pool was small and does not have a beach view or hot tub. And things like landscaping seemed to happen during the day while guests were relaxing (kinda odd). Overall, would not recommend this hotel. Stay next door at the Westin or the Sheraton.

Older beach front hotel with excellent cultural experience and beach activities. Within easy walking distance of many of the best Kaanapali restaurants, many with gorgeous ocean views. Also short walk to Black Rock which has fine snorkeling and is suitable for beginners. Best to book excursions and activities via company websites or any travel websites. Please avoid the concierge desk which vastly overcharges e.g. $200 plus for a $99 sunset cruise. Hotel and hotel staff especially the Hawaiian guides deserve a 5 star rating, but concierge service significantly lowers the hotels appeal. All sorts of beach equipment can be rented at any of the beach front kiosks. Many tours including the Hawaiian outrigger canoe tour (highly recommended) leave right from the beach in front of the hotel. Don’t miss the daily cultural activities which include weaving, hula, ukulele lessons, and Hawaiian history. My favorite activity was the one explaining ancient navigation.
