A Paradise in Maui

What a lovely complex. All of the units are individually owned, so some are fabulously updated and some may not be. We rent directly from the owners and have stayed in the same fully updated unit three years in a row and we love it. It has everything that we need in the kitchen for when we want to eat in, comfortable beds, and a spacious lanai with a beautiful view. We love waking up in the morning to the sound of the surf. The closest beach is a short walk or drive and the unit provides us with beach towels, umbrellas, chairs and a cooler, or we can just enjoy the wonderful view from the pool where the kids can play. This is a great place for families!! I understand that some of the units are in a pool that is handled by a corporate entity so you don't know which unit you will be in until you arrive. That might work for some visitors, but we really like to work directly with the owners and to know exactly where we will be staying and how the unit is outfitted and furnished.
Could be better

I absolutely hate to give a place a bad review but this place could use a some love. Let me start off by saying this is the first time in a long time that I have stayed at a rental property versus a resort. There were major differences already but it is apparent that every unit is rented out by different owners and have varying cleanliness, furniture, upkeep, & amenities. It is managed by front desk and everyone was helpful and accommodating, however, if you're expecting this in every unit, it's not going to happen. Our group rented 3 different units and between the 3 of us, 2/3 units had multiple issues throughout the stay. Our unit was the best of three and was ready when we arrived early, the front desk helped us enter 1 hour early. It was cooled down and clean. Keep in mind there's no air conditioning except in bedrooms so that would be rough in the summer. There are dishes, utensils, tupperware but nothing else. Filtered water and ice depends on unit (I called to ask and they had no answers so I bought water but it was not necessary). They provide you with the bare minimum and you pretty much have to buy everything for your stay. The lotion they provided in my unit was partially used but luckily everything was clean. My unit came with beach chairs, snorkel gear, umbrellas and beach towels. My unit also came with dishwashing pods, laundry detergent, extra paper towels, and coffee. The washer and dryer did come in handy as well. All our appliances were in working order but I did have to call them for ants. During our stay, they also had pest control spraying the unit but they notified us one day ahead and we were expected to be out of the unit for an hour at 9am. Pretty difficult to do if you're with kids. Location cannot be beat. If you love the Wailea/Kihei area, it is the best. It is not very close to a beach but you can get to one in a mile or so. Highly recommend Island Market in the shopping center for last minute grocery runs. Overall, it was an okay experience but I could not recommend it for the price you are paying. If you don't need to cook on vacation, you'd best go to a resort.
